Word of warning to you all. I went to one where one of the activities was a drawing of a life model. One of the bridesmaids suggested it after going to one where the guy was very conventionally attractive. Not my cup of tea but, went along with it all. Now I don’t want to be rude but, I’ve never met a more 🤢 man. He had BO, a dead tooth and looked like a Victorian suffering from the plague. His ball sack was also twice the size of his dick and he shouted at me for drawing it like that. I said, I can only draw what I can see 🤷🏼‍♀️ So please, if anyone suggests it - SAY NO!

Slightly off topic but, I’ve just received the further details for a wedding we are attending soon. It is a beautiful little pack it contains a food choices card, directions etc. Then at the back is a card containing their account number with a little line that just reads as ‘no gifts just money’. Does anyone else think that’s a bit crass? (We we’re giving money anyways but, this just makes me feel a little uncomfortable)

What theme are you having? Sorry they laughed at you 🥺 My brother and sister in law had a lord of the rings theme and people loved it!
That’s amazing. It’s after an Al Bowlly song - Midnight, The Stars and You. I’ve always loved the stars since I was a little girl, they are really special to me. My dad would say the largest star (Northern star) was my nana, he passed away when I was 13 and we’d always look at the stars together. Not many people know about it but, my partner does and he proposed under the northern lights. So it’s our theme and we are having it sprinkled subtly throughout. Then at the night we are having twinkle lights to make it look like a night full of stars!

So on the first date with my fiance I wore this little baby blue skater dress
I cleared out my wardrobe today and found it
I've stored it away so that when I go for dress alterations I can have a heart cut out of it and sewn into my wedding dress as my something blue

I finally had my wedding on Saturday! I was so worried the week leading up about things going wrong but on the morning I was just so chill for some reason, everyone was surprised how calm I was, and then my nerves only hit me when I got my dress on and had my flowers and came down to all my bridesmaids and my dad!
It was so surreal to go through after all of the planning, but everyone was genuinely so complimentary of the day and I think appreciated all of the work and planning I'd put in ❤
I walked down the aisle to Chasing Cars, had Oasis' Half the World Away for signing the register, and Somewhere Only We Know as our walking out song - which even my grandma highly approved of!
Was such a lovely day and really highlighted that on the day, when all you want to do is marry the love of your life all your worries melt away!

I’d love to see how that worked ☺
Oh I’ll bombard you with screenshots 😂
This is my mum’s dress, she’s only late 50s and still looks really young so she’s got something more ‘trendy’

This is MIL, she is in her 60s, very posh and more refined. It matches my partners suit who is wearing beige

Then I’ve had the bridesmaid dresses made to look like these below but, in champagne and a subtle slit on the side

Jeez my wedding in September is currently forecast to be about £55-60k and that’s before rings, suits, hen/stag, bridal party gifts etc. I knew weddings were expensive so I thought ours was normal but now reading here I’m wondering if we’ve gone too overboard! It’s a 4 day weekend in Tuscany so a few other things to pay for other than just the one day but still! Think I need to go and lie down haha 😬😬

Knew it wouldn’t be long…. H2B sister has said she won’t come to the wedding if her five (FIVE!!!) kids aren’t invited (to our kid-free wedding)

Bish don’t come then 😳🤷🏼‍♀️

There’s been an incident at my venue (less than 6 weeks to go) and so it looks like our day will be cancelled 😭 We we’re due to go on honeymoon right after too so now need to begin the logistical nightmare of finding another venue and setting a new date. Our fertility treatment was due to start post-honeymoon too so I’ve spent the day crying my eyes out 😭

Thank god there's a thread on this!

I got engaged over the weekend and I'm still riding super high on it all 🥰 but of course I'm keen to start setting some plans in place for our wedding, then I realised today I have no idea where to start 😂

I'll go back through this thread but are there any good apps or Web resources to help you get your head around it all?

Tomorrow is my last day in work before the wedding.. I’m equal parts excited about it finally being here, and terrified that something will go wrong.

I’ve had the most vivid wedding nightmares the last few nights, they have felt so real!

Hi all!

I (34 F) proposed to my partner of 6 years (42 M) last week and we decided to just get it over with. No ceremony, no party, because financally we cant and neither of us ever wanted a traditional, all singing and dancing show. My parents cant be in the same room together, so I would have had to invite 1 or the other which i simply cant do, so it will just be us, my 2 kids and 2 friends. So we booked our giving notice for April and the 'ceremony' for May! We havent told any except the witnesses. We might do an annoucement after its done but honestly im not too fussed by that either!

Im already getting a headache looking at the list of things that i will need to change my name on. Not to mention the kids names too!

But what i am really stuck on is what to wear. Im not girly girly so i dont think ill wear a dress but any ideas for something 'smart casual'?

Yes!! I’ve been thinking about setting up a wedding planning thread 😁

we’re getting married March 2022.

we’re having a tiny wedding with just a few close family members, in a hotel quite a long way from home.

current dilemma is whether to do hair and/or makeup myself… it will just be for me, we will just have a couple of guests, but I’m being quoted £150+ for each, and I feel like it’s just a bit excessive! But also id probably spend that or more on makeup if I did it myself anyway
I'm actually a wedding coordinator as a profession and in all honesty any brides I've had that decided to do their hair and make up themselves are substantially more stressed in the morning
Plus say you did go and buy the make up yourself, eyeshadow as a example, the ABH palette I see most make up.artists use alone is £50
Plus your primer, foundation, powder, bronzer, blusher, Highlighter, mascara and false lashes and setting spray
And you'll need to have enough of everything to do a couple of trials beforehand so keep that in mind.
Personally I always find when I've got something important, it's always the ONE day my eyebrows don't look right and my eyeliner goes uneven so I'm paying someone 😂
