My unpopular opinionā¦ a lot of models/Instagram models/influencers starve themselves and pose in underwear and bikinis and I believe they do it knowing full well itās meant to make others jealous and evoke low self esteem. I think, for people
Like that, making others envious makes them feel validated. It also validates their (probable) unhealthy relationship with food and exercise.
Iām not saying we should all be covering up lest we make someone else jealous. But the poses arenāt someone having fun who just happens to be in a bikini. The pics are taken for the point of showcasing said body in a bikini, and so on.
likewise, I see women with incredible bodies in the gym who have obviously worked very hard, and wear tiny shorts and a sports bra and nothing else. Itās the middle of winter, thereās no way thats comfier. It makes it painfully obvious they work out, not for their own sense of well-being, but because they want to get validation from other people on their body.
Itās really unhealthy and sad to see. A lot of people say poor mental health is linked to social media, itās causing low self esteem in young people and so on. But itās not just social media thatās the problem, itās people trying to validate themselves through others.
