I'm pretty lethal with the de cluttering but have saved all my topshop stuff from the early 00s (I was always in there before I had a mortgage šŸ˜”) my daughter will thank me in about a decade šŸ™
My 17 year old picks through my 90s and 00s stuff from warehouse, oasis, River Island and top shop

Itā€™s nice to see it being worn again

I used to buy all the Ā£50 silk tops from oasis, paired with bootcuts or straight jeans from ts and killer high heels from River Island or Faith (though I did own some Jimmy Choos too)

Thank you! My husband thinks Iā€™m a right misery šŸ˜‚
I remember coming across whole families shopping in Tesco during the middle of the pandemic when there were queues right around the building. Every day.

itā€™s annoying at the best of times but then, I couldnā€™t understand it. They were doing headcounts at the time so it meant they literally held up the queue needlessly.

My unpopular opinionā€¦ a lot of models/Instagram models/influencers starve themselves and pose in underwear and bikinis and I believe they do it knowing full well itā€™s meant to make others jealous and evoke low self esteem. I think, for people
Like that, making others envious makes them feel validated. It also validates their (probable) unhealthy relationship with food and exercise.

Iā€™m not saying we should all be covering up lest we make someone else jealous. But the poses arenā€™t someone having fun who just happens to be in a bikini. The pics are taken for the point of showcasing said body in a bikini, and so on.

likewise, I see women with incredible bodies in the gym who have obviously worked very hard, and wear tiny shorts and a sports bra and nothing else. Itā€™s the middle of winter, thereā€™s no way thats comfier. It makes it painfully obvious they work out, not for their own sense of well-being, but because they want to get validation from other people on their body.

Itā€™s really unhealthy and sad to see. A lot of people say poor mental health is linked to social media, itā€™s causing low self esteem in young people and so on. But itā€™s not just social media thatā€™s the problem, itā€™s people trying to validate themselves through others.

I donā€™t care if someone is vaccinated or unvaccinated, wears a mask or doesnā€™t wear a mask. You do you and Iā€™ll do me. Not worth getting upset about it either way.
Exactly. Life is stressful enough without getting het up about what other people are doing.

I am not scared of covid. Not vaccinated, nor intend to. Socialised and travelled throughout the lockdowns. Never worn or even owned a mask nor distanced (if you're scared of the virus, get out of MY way) or isolated myself because I've had a little snuffle or washed my hands any more than I usually do. And I don't care for an angry face reaction over it either.
You are entitled to your unpopular opinion but I literally know someone who has died from covid so I have very little respect for it or you. I have a friend who has cared for people dying from it in hospital. But sure, it doesnā€™t exist to YOU.

I think we should change the thread title from Unpopular Opinions to Uneducated Opinions. Such disrespect for all the families who have lost loved ones. Who knows how many people you have transmitted this disease to.

thatā€™s the essential problem of covid though. It isnā€™t just about what the individual does, or the decision the individual makes. You canā€™t apply ā€œjust let everyone do what they want to do and mind your own businessā€. Decisions to vaccinate yourself or not to, to self isolate or not to etc. have consequences wider than just an impact on the individual. Thatā€™s why itā€™s such a difficult issue to navigate.

when someone chooses to vaccinate themselves they arenā€™t just doing it for the benefit of themselves. Likewise when someone doesnā€™t get vaccinated, itā€™s not just themselves who will have consequence as a result of that decision.

Thereā€™s lots of things people do in life that impact others both positively and negatively. Moaning about it online, which letā€™s face it is what the majority do, isnā€™t going to make someone get vaccinated or wear a mask. You canā€™t control other peoples actions so whatā€™s the point in getting all wound up about it?

Honestly, why even write this shite here? Thereā€™s a million Covid threads. Toxic, clearly just looking to cause upset for attention.

No angry face here and no point in calling you an ignorant bellend because you wonā€™t care.

My unpopular opinion is that I donā€™t believe people can be ā€˜born in the wrong bodyā€™. Doesnā€™t mean Iā€™m denying the existence of trans people. I just think itā€™s a mental illness that they need a lot of help for. The idea that thereā€™s this ā€˜innerā€™ female/male soul or whatnot is garbage. I am female, therefore I am. Cancel me if you like.

So what's the alternative? Start shouting at unmasked people in shops?

No, I'm not like that...I'll leave that to the police.

I'm masked up and vaccinated, so I'm already doing my bit.

Isnā€™t that the point of the thread.. for unpopular opinions. Youā€™re not meant to agree with them!

no you canā€™t control people. But you can influence them. Online or not. For better or for worse.

in my person life, Iā€™ve noticed a direct correlation between people who are educated (ok with vaccine) and people who arenā€™t educated who are a lot more mistrustful (because they donā€™t understand it).

I respect peopleā€™s decision to do what they think is best at the end of the day, and politicians, powers that be have treated the masses appallingly for centuries so small wonder there is very little trust.

I have health issues that sadly may mean getting covid could be very bad for me. I can do the best I can on my own but ultimately, itā€™s others actions that will dictate whether I catch it or not. Fighting off something like covid requires a collective response, and in the U.K. we are very individualistic as a society

Iā€™ve never said people should start shouting at others? Thatā€™s not even a viable alternative, that would literally get you nowhere. No one has ever in the history of mankind, been won over by someone shouting at them in public

It was a rhetorical question. I still wouldn't attempt to educate another person on what they choose to do. I think there's plenty on the news and everywhere you go that educates a person on covid. On a personal level, I've watched my teenager become so anxious about this that she was referred to a therapist to deal with anxiety related tics. She stopped making eye contact because she had lost social skills. All down to covid.
That was on top of other personal issues going on.
If I get het up about what others are doing, then I'm adding on extra stress that quite frankly I can be doing without.

thereā€™s unpopular and then thereā€™s plain insensitive and ignorant.
I'm sorry...I don't educate others on covid. I follow the rules though so I hope that doesn't make me ignorant.

lots of people have suffered because of lockdowns. Lots of people think itā€™s an overreaction. I donā€™t agree with lockdowns personally at this point. I was pointing out that the issue is a collective one, and we are very divided in this country. We arenā€™t attuned to thinking of how we work for the collective, we work for ourselves as the individual. For better or worse.

I was making an observation not suggesting we all shout each other down on the streets
