Just need to vent
My daughter has responded to my every request today with “OH-KAAYYYYY” with a real attitude or if I, for example, ask her to get out the car “I’m already DOING it”
Like I love you you are my life and soul but also go fuck yourself
This was me today after an epic toddler meltdown in Tesco, before she deliberately tipped her dinner all over the floor (and on the dog) and she had a 5 minute nap on the way home from the shop which led to bedtime being 2 hours late 😭😭

Those that have co slept when did you decide for them to go in their own room. Mine is unbelievably affectionate and soft. He hates being on his own!! Even if I go out the room during the day he’ll come with me to the loo or upstairs if I’m nipping up for something. He just won’t sleep on his own never has! He sleeps really well next to me so am I just creating problems by moving him. I can’t remember the last time he woke up during the night.

I can not deal with last night all the time. I know he needs to get used to it but I couldn’t settle at all and when I eventually fell asleep he woke up probs an hour later, came into our room so I got in his bed with him and there wasn’t much room obvs and I just couldn’t settle and he was tossing and turning a lot too so we went back into my bed 🤣and then he was wide awake til 3 am ish and my alarm goes off at 6 am
I don’t mind him being in my bed at all but he’s 4 now. Do I keep trying or just let him in my bed again. I’m soooo tired and cos of my job ( walking all day I do 25/27000 steps ) I can barely keep my eyes open now and I just wanna cry 😂😂😂😂
---
But he takes himself in there after his bath should I add so he wants to be in there just not on his own but there isn’t room for both of us hah
We semi co slept till he was 6.
He'd go to bed in his own bed at around 7pm, but then anytime from midnight he'd find himself in my bed. He knew he was able to do that, so long as he always went straight back to sleep. Half the time I didn't know until I woke in the morning.
He decided a week before he turned 7 enough was enough and he's slept in his own bed ever since.
I left the ball in his court, he knew bedtimes meant he had to start the night in his own bed regardless and he knew one day, he'd need to sleep in there all night every night but I followed his lead

My daughters dad is such a prick at times! Just picked her up and she’s wearing leggings and a thick denim dress with long sleeved. I asked why she’s in that and not wearing summer clothes given it’s 23 degrees and roasting! She was so warm too. I said “if you need some summer clothes I’ve got loads..” his reply was “you’re pecking my head, fuck off” …… wtf. I said why is she wearing a long sleeved thick dress in summer! Idiot🤯

We do this as well. Just say it’s not a word for them to use, and that’s that.
I swear far too much. And my kids don’t at all. My 4yo did say “tough titties” the other week though, which is not something I ever say so I’ve no idea where she got it?!? It’s not a common phrase here at all.
God I’ve not heard tough titties in AGES🤣

Is it not just a total waste of money and nappies. I don’t understand the thought process here. I’d rather change a wet sheet than buy nappies. I can’t wait for the day I don’t have to buy them 😑
Same. It’s my favourite thing about them getting a little bit older. No nappies. Although I then forget we need wipes, and run out coz I use them for everythingggg

I think for those worrying about potty training, it’s one of those huge milestones and it will happen when your child is ready. They need to have the bladder control and to realise the feeling of when they need a wee and a poo compared to just doing it without thinking “oh I need a wee / poo, I need to find the potty/toilet”. I wasn’t really bothered to rush it and when it didn’t work I thought never mind, try again in a few months and it was so much easier, I didn’t have to even think about it cos my daughter initiated it. It’s hard to not compare though but like others have said nobody remembers what age kids did the milestones at

Reception they start at 4. So from September-August, they will start at 4 and finish at 5. Not sure if you do the same sep-aug??
Kids here go into primary 1 which is that first year of primary school. Most kids are usually 5 but the cut off is usually Jan/Feb of the year they start. So kids can start school in August at just over 4.5 (like I did many years ago). It is becoming popular to defer Jan/Feb born children until the following year intake.

So Big Biscuit had some kids in his class celebrating their 6th birthdays two months ago. He also attending parties for classmates turning 5 last December.

There's also new guidance coming in where parents can choose to defer their child if they are not 5 by August of the year they're supposed to start school. Personally I don't see that working as it's very likely parents will have to self-fund that extra time in nursery (if the decision to defer isn't partly based on a recommendation by the nursery and education department).

ETA our school year runs August-June.

Bet you're glad you (didn't) ask 😂

2 year old has started saying "OOO IS IT?!"
Every time she hears the front door open or someone knock 😂

Amazes me that she could only say 2 or 3 words at 18 months but now she says all sorts!

She's currently banging the xylophone saying "Good tune" 😂
Aww bless her!! They are funny aren’t they! Mine goes what’s that really loud when he points at things

Mine woke me up at 515 saying wake up right in my face. In September he wasn’t talking a great deal so it actually makes me smile when he wakes me up talking 🥹🥹

@PillowsofFluff i didn’t go to my MILs 70th!! Because we didn’t have anyone to look after our son and I didn’t want to take him for a meal at 7. Back then he went to bed at 630. No way would I take a toddler to a family meal In the evening anyway.
its Too late totake a child out at that time in my opinion
I would say no to all those solutions they provided with you as well. You are not a dick you’re being a good mother!! I definitely wouldn’t leave my child with someone they’d never met. As you just know they’d wake up!! And then what would happen 🫠
my partner went to his mums meal alone and I went out for afternoon tea with her and my sil instead
Also didn’t go to my sils birthday meal this march as it was 7pm again!

Thanks, WhatABore. I think we’re probably about average, maybe on the lower end. About 120 - 150 words, mostly two word sentences. Daddy work (only daddy works, apparently!) mummy’s here, noisy daddy, bye bye nanny, hello duck, biscuit please, naughty cat. Couple of three word sentences - can say what is it, although sounds more like What Shit 😂 and what you doing. And all day long when singing wheels on the bus.

Friends kids are practically reciting Shakespeare, potty trained, counting to twenty, able to identify colours and so on … I’m annoyed with myself as I always vowed I wouldn’t get dragged into any nonsense but then I find myself stressing out!
It’s hard not to compare but honestly kids all achieve things in their own time. I have a 10 month old who is just crawling my son who’s 3 was walking at her age but she will get there eventually. It’s so hard when you are around other parents who boast, I know it’s hard but try not to compare I’m sure your little one is doing amazing and the fact you are stressing shows what a good parent you are x

Hope anyone who is finding what schools your little ones are going to gets the one they want
Mine got in our first choice which I’m pleased about
They have a great send team which is the main reason we picked and it’s two mins from our house
I’m not sure why I read this and my heart dropped when I thought I’d missed out, then I remembered she’s not even 2 yet 🤣

How’s everyone’s Mother’s Day going? I’m lead on my bed watching sex/life drinking wine whilst my kids create hell downstairs. This is no doubt something I’ll regret on Father’s Day 😅

I am so so so so fed up. Every Wednesday and Thursday I’m off with my daughter, wednesdays we go swimming lessons in the morning, afternoon we usually chill / go in the garden / go somewhere and every single week I’m left feeling like why the fuck do I even bother. Some weeks are great and she’s wonderful but it’s getting more and more frequent that there’s meltdowns over such a small things.

She went on her scooter to swimming, no issues this morning, on the way home, she got off her scooter and I went to pick it up and she slapped my hand. I said that’s not acceptable, you don’t hurt mummy and that was it. Ww3! She refused to walk or scoot back home (we were at the end of the road).. I dragged her home literally as I can’t carry her she’s far too heavy. She refused to come inside, stood in the front garden screaming, I got her inside and she threw herself on the floor, I tried to take her shoes off and she kicked me several times, I then put her on the naughty step and she’s screaming blue murder, banging her feet against the living room door, screaming still.

I used to love my time off with her during the week but I’ve just had enough with the dramas and I’d rather be at work!!!🫠 I can’t afford to put her in nursery anymore days as she’s going 3 from this week and there isn’t the capacity for me to up my hours at work.. just feel like banging my head at a brick wall when she’s like this 😭

after she’s had the meltdown and calmed down she’s back to being her usual self….until the next one!!!!

Been to my mums this afternoon and i over heard her telling my fella to get the nappies off my son. This is like millionth time she’s mentioned it this year. If I hear her one more time I’m gonna punch her in the mouth 😂😂😂. Im not a violent person but she is making me very wound up
If only it was so simple to potty train!!! I have an agreement with nursery it is pointless yet because they think he won’t tell them he needs a wee. He is getting better with communication with adults but it’s still a bit off.
does she think I am putting it off for the fun of it!? It really angers me when she mentions it. She mentioned it at Easter and I snapped at her saying I don’t want to hear it and now she’s doing it behind my back when she thought I’d left the room!!!!🤔🤔🤔

Hats off to anyone who co shares or sleeps in the same bed as their child. I’ve shared a room with mini A for 10 nights on holiday and I’d say 5 nights have been awful. She wakes up in the night randomly, then wakes me up.. we’ve got two double beds in the room but it’s awful. I’ve also forgot her other bear she sleeps with and it’s been “I want yellow bear” in the middle of the night, or “I want ice cream”…..then when I tell her it’s bedtime and to go to sleep she screams and cries, wakes everyone around us up! 🥴 we are home tomorrow and I can’t wait to sleep in my own bed!

Some nights have been lovely where she’s held my hand in the night and woke me up by kissing my face, but overall it’s not for me🤣
We moved our little girl into a bed fairly early and she’s much happier now that she ever was in a cot but it means if she wakes in the night she comes running in and gets in with us. For about 5 minutes it’s lovely, very sweet and affectionate, then she falls back to sleep and starts kicking/wriggling/causing chaos. One night last week she kept trying to push me off the bed shouting “no mummy” so I just sort of ended up sleeping at the bottom of the bed like a dog 😂😂 no idea why I didn’t put her back in her bed or stand my ground, think I was so exhausted I didn’t even realise until I woke up haha

My toddler has just turned 2 and for the last weeks he seems to be more tired than usual, he will sleep 7 - 7 but seems really tired around 10am. He will then have a nap for newly 2 hours from midday - 14:00is but by half 4 he’s yawning like crazy until he goes to bed. He is an active toddler but we don’t seem to be doing anything out the norm??
Yawning doesn't necessarily mean you are tired. Its actually a reflex in the brain designed to wake you up and feel more alert. The motion stretches your lungs and allows for more oxygenation throughout your body
