A lot of these Nickelodeon shows were after my time watching Nickelodeon, but I grew up watching "Head of the Class" so all of the stuff about these Nick shows is alarming. I've been watching the Alexa Nikolas YouTube channel about all this. The connection to "Growing Pains" (and the disturbing movie "The Willies) is shocking---I wouldn't be surprised if Kirk Cameron/the Growing Pains kids were harassed/abused.
In the late 80s/early 90s (in middle school/high school), I was pen pals with someone (older than my parents) at Disney Studios. When I was in high school, my family planned a trip to Los Angeles/Disneyland. I got a letter from this man inviting me to stay at his house in his guest room. I remember teenage me reading this and thinking "Oh Hell no!". I politely declined. I did meet up in person, but with my parents there. This person is now deceased, and nothing happened to me, but I've often wondered what would have happened if I accepted this invitation.
