In the age of the internet don't most people who follow royal gossip in the UK know all the affair stuff?

There's been a few *nudge nudge* type articles in the UK press where they don't outright say it, but they might as well.
I think they'll not these days

Can someone precis any of the bad headlines that Meghan had?

Obviously there was the Compton one and a million articles on her Dad but anything else that was sinister? Being fed to the wolves stuff?

We touched on some of the daft ones in the last thread about avocados and nearly killing Charlotte with lilly of the valley.
And the one where Meghan found Charlotte asleep. Really

There were some overtly ridiculous articles - the serial killer one for example, comes to mind. BUT there were enough negative articles with just the right amount of facts and comparisons to Kate to purposely make Meghan look bad whilst being believable enough. Even the incredibly egregious headlines like the 'avocado fuelling warfare and water shortages' one, while ludicrous on the surface, create just enough negativity surrounding the target (MM) to sway people's opinion in a vague way and subliminally change public perception.

Besides, it's not like if the Palace doesn't ever respond to silly rumours. There was an actual Palace statement about Kate's hair extensions FGS. Who the hell cares if she wears extensions? But apparently the Palace cared because they took great pains to state that what looked like an extension sewn in, was actually a childhood scar. 🙄

TL: dr - The Palace can and does respond, even to outlandish claims, to protect the chosen family members. They could definitely have done more to rebut and protect Meghan from some of the particularly hateful claims.

Maybe that's the lie that Meghan's talking about when she says the palace were lying to protect others!!

Did they really issue a statement about her hair extensions though?!!

Agreed. But even alluding to it is cruel on yeh Wales’ children. In years to come all this will be out there and, whether true or not, the fact that their uncle appears to have endorsed it will make it more serious. It’s always the children that lose in these situation. I find that sad.
not only the Wales' children but Rose's children too. I saw pictures blasted on twitter of Rose's 5 year old daughter and people saying she looks too much like Charlotte and must be William's.

Yes, back in 2011 they said it was related to a childhood operation. So odd, why did they respond to that statement but not others?! Prince William had a scar that I didn’t see until recently which is strange since he has a massive head and it’s sizeable.

Talking about ridiculous reporting, I remember when Kate and William got married, the Daily Mail made some rather rude comments about Chelsy Davis because she was bottle blonde and that it looked tacky compared to Kate and Pippa!

I'm trying to avoid the Netflix fallout...just realised that the Queen is still the avatar for the Royal Family threads. Too soon for a change? Maybe the crown or something?

It will be strange having the King's Speech this Christmas. I know the Queen didn't do one last year, but it won't be the same without the after-lunch guessing game of what colour she was going to be wearing.

But they did respond to claims and stories about Meghan. They denied that she’d banned Harry from the Xmas day shoot, denied that her and Kate had fallen out, denied she’d sent a list of demands to neighbours. They’re not going to respond to a Daily Express article about avocados, and if there weren’t stories like her bullying staff that appear to be true then stories like the avocado one would have been ignored.

Yep. Clarence House issued the statement and it was related to a childhood operation. Why even bring up such a personal issue in an effort to rebut something inconsequential like hair extensions of all things?

Did they deny she'd fallen out with Kate? As in the Palace or KP itself? I don't recall that and if they did, I doubt speculation would still be ongoing.

Also, the bullying comments came after the avocado article IIRC. Not sure how those claims, which conveniently surfaced right before the Oprah interview, would have influenced anyone on the avocado article?

No denial was needed about the avocado headline, the article didn’t have anything to do with Meghan that needed denying!

What was this one?
Apparently meghan was caught taking pictures inside kensington and was escorted to the airport. People are now saying she took pics of charlotte while asleep.

Interesting that both Charles and William’s photographs were taken before the Queen died.
Perhaps they just aren’t in the mood this year for celebrating Christmas, the first is always the worst, so it was just easier to use a photo they already had. I don’t blame them for that.

I don’t think they are that much different to normal are they?
Last year was a shot from the holiday no one knew they had.
There was a wooly jumper in front of logs one and another couple posing outside on grass, I think.
Charles and Camilla had one of them at a horse race wearing masks and they’ve done the sat outside in the summer on a bench one as well.

I don't think that avocado article was an example of the press bullying Meghan. I think the express had a fairly dull article on avocados damaging the environment and they stuck Meghan's name on the title to get some extra clicks. The stuff with her dad and the articles about the rift between her and Kate I can understand her being upset about but a lot of the articles were just stupid and her name was being used as clickbait.

I liked the woolly jumpers on logs Christmas card. It looked reasonably natural - they were obviously sitting for the photo but in a natural way. This year's photo feels a bit contrived and the one from last year's holiday felt too posed as well.

Oh I’ve no idea, I don’t follow their cards tbh.

Come over here from Meghan and Harry thread as it gets too vitriolic.
So what’s I’ve learnt today is that the palace covered up a story about Prince of Pegging with a sorry about unethical Avocados. I feel royally short changed

I may regret asking this ( almost certainly) but what is pegging and who was he meant to be doing it to/ with?

Why do so many people who are critical of Harry and Meghan insist that you must loooove and adore all other members of RF? Do they not realize that Will and Kate, Sophie and the rest are all humans with their flaws? Why such binary way of thinking, the world doesn't consist of merely Kates and Meghans.

I'm not actually a big fan of the Royal Family but feel really sorry them with this pair of idiots washing their dirty laundry in public.

It's not even dirty. At the moment it's just crumpled laundry that just needs a wee iron.

Apparently with Rose because Kate is too ‘old fashioned’. It involves Rose donning a strap on and doing Wills up the bum.
