Yes! However the issue is with continuing peg feeds the child won’t get hungry therefore don’t learn the feeling of hungry and wanting/needing to eat. It’s a catch 22 situation and very tricky.
My child is NBM so I don’t know the ins and outs either.

thank you for explaining it, I don’t have any understanding of the challenges you (&she) face with feeding a child with those needs, apologies if my comment was insensitive, it was naive of me to make an assumption like that.
I didn’t take offence or anything - I like you had no idea before having a child with the same issues I was just saying it’s a lot more complex than it looks as to getting a child who refuses to eat to actually eat lol.

babies that start solids have no concept of “nice tasting” food either — wouldn’t be giving egg whites and frazzles to a 6 month old either. Plenty of nice tasting & nutritious foods out there
That's not the same thing. I work with children that are peg fed due to refusal to eat and you literally try them on anything. Alot of it is to do with taste and texture. You just want them to eat or even just put something in their mouth.

Either way with the feeding situation, it should have been done properly under supervision of specialists, not some random feeding school off the internet and definitely not with Kathy leading the show!

Her salt team wouldn’t do it. Said it was too risky and she went against them which is why she paid for the feeding school. She wanted to fly him over but he wouldn’t get a fit to fly so they did it by email 🫤

The feeding school wanted him above 8.5kg, the “local team” (ie his doctors) wanted him above 9kg. He fell below both. When it was “far too much her, the school, and his local professionals”. That’s when she stopped.

His medical team warned her not to let his weight fall below 9kg. She ignored this. She allowed his weight to fall below 8.5kg to the point where he looked emaciated. Then she stopped.

We don’t know why she stopped. She’s framed it as her decision made with the professionals. It might have been. Or maybe somebody external told her she had to stop?
His weight went down to 7.8kg, he was rushed to hospital with what she said was a common cold, they put him back on feeds and he had defib pads on ready for if he crashed. I thought that was the reason why she stopped?

The difference between her two accounts is quite something
It’s all so cynical and fake:

nursemum: I’m grieving every minute of every day

distracting Kaytee: can’t wait to get my rave on

She really doesn't want to go back to work does she?
I know unless you've experienced it you can't even begin to understand what it must be like to lose a child. On the other hand she's got a long life ahead of her. She is triggered by EVERYTHING!
Her two accounts vary so much. She's mourning her son and the income and lifestyle she's clearly become accustomed to.
I want to be sympathetic to her loss but when there are mothers/fathers out there who don't have a 50k+ go fund me to lighten the load I'm really struggling. So many (myself included) gave her that money to take some time, get her tit together. Not piss it up the wall buying a bleeping merc and going on all these bloody lifestyle retreats.
If she ends up actually doing a full day's graft I'll eat my hat.
