The thing with home educating is you need to be really engaged with it no matter what style of home educating you opt for.
Neither of these two seem engaged or interested in their children’s interests beyond using them as a quick filler for their vlogs, there seem to be no attempt to build on their interests and extend their knowledge.
You don’t have to be a teacher or know everything to home educate but you need an enquiring mind(and I don’t just mean reading wiki Chris), I have learnt so much while educating my children and it has shown gaps in my own education despite me going to excellent schools and to uni. It’s great to learn together and shows children that you never need to stop learning and broadening your mind. There are more resources and activities tailored to home educated kids than ever before making it much more accessible but they don’t seem interested in any of that, those kids must be so bored and lonely.
They have 3 children who need to be provided with a full time education by law and I have no doubt that if they were providing anything more than the online tutor sessions they talk about (why not a face to face tutor so they can actually see someone else?) and a few printable worksheets then we would see it because let’s face it their content is tit and could do with something more interesting.
I feel very sorry for Isla in particular, it must be so miserable for her, I wish she was back in school or had a family who actually did some fun hands on learning with her. It will be interesting to see what happens with Jace in future, the LEA won’t be interested in him until the term after he turns 5, so I am curious to see if by that point they will still be home educating or if he will go to school.
