I love Selmar ...but his English
I will never criticize Selmar for his English (except for s[k]eptic tank)...I'm very much like him when I (try to) speak Yiddish.

Thats true, but the most people in The Netherlands speak much better English than Selmar..i sometimes think he has a bit of a problem with reading etc..But anyway.. you should try dutch...

I don't know about his parents. But please, I don't know what the fuss it about. You want something roadworthy for your kids to be in. Skodas are probably safer actually. But this Merc would not have been expensive at all.

Selmar is of the generation that wouldn't have compulsorily learnt English in school. I have a close friend from Maastricht in the same boat. He doesn't seem all that bothered about improving his English now though, or perhaps he is just not linguistically minded. I would have thought he would have been fairly fluent after nearly a year at the chateau. There is a touch of stubbornness or maybe arrogance about him I think, as he could so easily put his video intro through a translator or spell-checker. He seems almost to be wilfully displaying his pidgin English.

I dont know how old Selmar is...but i can tell you that English is something you learn in The Netherlands from early on..at least I did..and i am 53..i think he has a bit of learning difficulties,,that would explain his lack of good English..but nevertheless i like Selmar a lot..

But my Dutch friend didn't learn English at his school. He is in his sixties now, so not that much older than Selmar, and it just wasn't on offer at the time. Perhaps things were different in Limburg. I'm not sure where Selmar is from.
Well if it’s car counting years mine is - unlucky for some - 13 years old and failed it’s MOT on Tuesday. All’s not lost though as only minor point and it’s back for slight repair and re-test tomorrow. Biggest worry is - I have to get on public transport to get home and then back to pick it up!!! Not used public transport throughout all lockdowns!!! Double mask and lots of hand gel! Wish me luck.
