I'm using @Just Grift Wood's photo here......

What is this meat thing? Yesterday, when I saw the picture, I thought it was ham and commented it didn't look like any ham I'd ever had.
Is it roast beef maybe? It does sort of resemble some sort of Spanish ham......Iberico maybe, but I don't see much fat on it. It looks other worldly, that much I do know!
And now that I look at the triangle thing on this plate, I thought it was some sort of savory pastry yesterday. Now that I look at it closer, it almost looks like a really thin frittata or quiche. Maybe they made it in a large sheet pan so they could make it up in large quantities and serve it.

In any event, it's still what I called it yesterday...a very inexpensively made meal. When she says a "light lunch" she means light on the budget, too!

@Shari Holloway- here are the ones (most are video clips that you can click on) that @KitKat_theNewRat posted from a Patron's IG page. Poor adorable girl- you could see by her reflection in the loo mirror she was chuffed to be there with her mate! I won't take that away from her.

Any hints as to what the triangular 'thingy' is on the plates?

Waddup, Yentas!

Poppin’ in to express my deepest sympathies to all here who are citizens of the UK and my fellow Commonwealth subjects over the passing of Her Majesty, the Queen. President Macron said it well: Elizabeth II was indeed THE Queen to the rest of the world! As my wife and I are currently in London, there is a very palpable heaviness of heart across the city, but we also sense the people’s hope for the future in the power and beauty of continuity. The Queen is dead. Long live the King.

What was Stephanie thinking when she and her cohort sang “God Save the Queen” when there is now a new king? How can she not know that protocol/tradition/logic as a Brit? Is she just that dense?

Is @HalcyonOrganic elated with Michael Petherick’s latest return-of-the-comeback vlog?

It looks like a cured ham, something akin to prosciutto. But, it is very sad- this is indeed a very light lunch. When I have guests in the summer, I do serve a plate of prosciutto e melone (it's a plethora of these rolled up bad boys with cantaloupe) as first course, a pasta course or meat course as a second, then a salad (it's an Italian thing- I have no idea why salad is last, but it works), and then a cheese tray, dessert (with fresh fruit) and coffee. That luncheon was sadness alone. Crikey, I am still surprised she wasn't feeding them courgettes to be rid of them!

Fark me. You wouldn’t believe the brass neck of that woman would you . TBF, the narcissism of Nutmeg makes Fanny at the Farmhouse seem almost normal.
They are scarily similar

He was PM Paul Keating! He shook my hand when I became an Aussie citizen 25 years ago, and I really did not like him then. But more recently he has been making a lot of sense regarding our newly rejected Liberal/National (LNP) combined Federal government. IMHO we will move closer to a Republic now that The Queen is no longer our head of state. Australia is now a very multi cultural country. But it won't happen until a suitable period of mourning has passed.

I suspect it is piece of bread.
How exciting..Not!

In Zimbabwe they once announced on live TV that Queen Elizabeth the Eleventh (Elizabeth II) had arrived in the country. It caused huge amusement.

Erm... Let's put things into perspective. Dan, is/was the gardener until he got infected with vlogitis. Yes he can do basic cooking and everyone is a waiter.
If my gardener started poncing about filming himself for YouTube I'd become fractious. He wouldn't be working for me for much longer.

Once, the queen was visiting NZ and came to my town to visit a horse stud with some connection to her. My younger sister and I found out when her flight was coming in and we stood outside the airport entrance - noone else was around! As her car came out of the airport, we stood there waving and she turned to look at us and did the royal wave. This was in stark contrast to my memories as a kid of 5 at the Farmborough airshow in England and my dad picking me up and pointing through the vast crowds to someone in the distance who was Princess Anne. I couldn't see whom I was supposed to be looking for.

The Cambridges haven't had their Wikipedia pages updated yet...............

OMG old Meghan Markle has had her Wikipedia page updated already to: Daughter in law of King Charles the 3.
These narcs are something else aren't they.
Her chances of ever seeing him again are slim.

I've been wondering about that, what will happen to the Commonwealth without the Queen. It was her pet project and I think she held it together.

I have my very own King Charles, I call him Charlie. I’m sleeping with him.
Awwww. Wuzza fuzzy wuzzy. Srsly, what a cute dog.

I noticed the message from one of the cult:
Maggie Alegre
I hope you all had a wonderful time! Sorry I missed the festivities because it all looked so fun and the whole family was there but I had to go to the Queen’s Jubilee! And after yesterday’s terrible events I’m glad I did even though I only caught the views of King Charles’s back side at Buckingham Palace and Meghan’s hat and the back of Prince Harry’s head at St Paul’s! A few hours of visiting with the lovely LaLande Family or very brief glances of the back of royalty? It was a very tough call !

I don’t know what world she inhabits but the Jubilee was months ago. I’m not sure which I would prefer a view of Charles’ backside or lunch at Lie Lande.

I like prosciutto, but not like they served it. It’s is very hard, very salty, you need melon or something like that to cut it. I usually use it as a rolled meat for charcuterie, but with cheeses, fruits, breads. It looked like some kind of sad main course. They could have done something much more palatable.

That is so sad and disturbing to hear! The elder care facilities in our area are generally called long term care here- Health and Rehabilitation Centers- that type of wording. I don’t see “nursing home” being used here In the tacitly names any more. We are in the southern region in U.S. There are some that are good- decent- but they are tough to find. We found this out when we had an elderly friend that found himself needing to get his strength back after a fall (He was 87 at the time and turned 88 before he got well enough to return home). Once he could be released from hospital care to a rehab type facility he landed in a not so good one. He was miserable there and lost so much weight- but was in fairly good shape as far as getting up and down again and having mobility. This was during height of Covid Pandemic too so it was amazing he didn’t get it. We did get him moved to an acceptable place and he got so much better. We had help in screening the rehab places through an attorney friend who represents nursing homes (elder care)- so she let us know which ones had good reputations and which ones had legal troubles with patients. Glad to say he turned 90 last month and is living in his own place now and has a caregiver that comes about his meals and gets him to Dr appts. But he’s overall in decent health now. It was touch and go for a while. My husband had become friends with him at our little community church- he has outlived all his family- wife, 2 sons, a sister- so my husband and another family friend from church are his POA’s now. We just never know who we’re going to meet and become part of their story. The cost of these long term care facilities is very expensive- about $6000 a month I hear. Assisted living is when the person can live on their own and have their own unit/apartment and eat meals in a dining hall usually. That is a very expensive way to live as well. Does make you wonder though how these homes get into all the peoples bank accounts!!! It’s sad that they can prey on these folks when they are the most vulnerable. *Also on our friend’s story/ he is also a Veteran and is now getting his benefits through the V.A.
