Also anyone know how easy to navigate London is, I'll be going first time in April, folks have been before but used underground an it's just not gonna happen with me at all, am happy to walk but I don't know how much I'll need to prepare for an they don't have a clue as they only ever used subways
Will you be in central London? That's quite easy to navigate with signs everywhere pointing out tube stations and the attractions. If you have google maps on your phone, you can also use that.

Fridge freezers sounding funny and doesn't feel to cold, think it's on its way out? It's old. Is it worth getting someone to have a look? Would it be an electrician? Orrrrr buy new? Would have to factor in council collection which was £26 when I last used it a few years back, may be more now or they may not take it at all. In which case what do you do? So many questions 🤔
Might it just be blocked somewhere? I just did the pokey stick thing to see if that helps. Anything else I'm missing? Not much ice in there as I recently defrosted.

you have to do what’s best for you really. The most important thing to consider in your situation is whether YOU want to be a stay at home mum for a few years. If you don’t then take the job and reap the benefits of it!
We probably can’t afford childcare for both of us working and my OHs earnings are far greater than mine, plus my job is already part time and can’t feasibly go to any lower hours (my NHS trust is too incompetent to do a job share, plus it’d be incredibly hard to fill). It’s something we need to think about but it would be harder for me to return to my current job because they’re so inflexible.

I mean it is really hard to say without seeing you and shouldn't really give out diagnosis on the internet but the one thing that springs to mind is Thoracic outlet syndrome (as something to rule out, not as what you definitely have). But again, the gp should be looking into it and referring on to physio/orthopaedics etc. I hope they figure it out soon!

Thank you I am having a cervical spine X-ray on the 5th. hopefully that will show something.

Hope someone has had some experience with this. We had a company come out to install a pull down loft ladder and flooring in our attic. Their apprentice put their foot through our ceiling in the master bedroom.

They have said they will fix it. They told us they would have someone out yesterday and didn't, they didn't contact us at all. We
had to call multiple times, no one reached out to us. They also don't seem to be willing to work around us (we can't be there during the day to let them in without one of us having to take unpaid leave from work) they have told us we will likely have to wait until the weekend now.

What do we do in this situation? They have left the ceiling in an awful state and their follow up service has been woeful.

I need advice on how to deter a cat from using my front garden as a litter tray.

I have a flower bed and gravel driveway.

A cat was using the flower bed as a litter tray so I was clearing it up and tried every trick in the book but nothing worked. Eventually bought some cat scatter spray and followed the instructions and it seemed to stop, until we went away for a week and couldn't keep up the spraying.

We came back to the flower bed literally covered in cat shit.

Cleared it up and started the process with cat scatter again but now it is shitting on the gravel too!!

I am at the end of my tether with it.

I would get one of them things that makes noise but the reviews are all bad. I can't see the cat from my office so I also can't spray it with water or whatever to scare it off.

But I am fed up of the front of my house being covered in shit, any advice appreciated. Thank you.
They hate strong smells like citrus and mint. So orange or lemon peel, mint tea bags, olbas or orange oil. Or by changing the texture, put bark or wood chip. My own cat uses ours on one spot by a light, I’ve filled it with busy plants and she’s moved somewhere else which is more suitable as she’s my cat I want her doing it in our garden not others.

I don’t know how to word this 😅

One of my grandparents passed away and myself and my sibling were so close to them, more so than their children. They were always worried that once they passed, the children would be money grabbing and throw all of their belongings away (I’ll never let that happen to the best of my ability). We’ve asked our aunties/uncles if we’re going to discuss their wishes together and they said they’re sorting it and sort of excluding us which our grandparent wouldn’t want. I’m concerned that they’re not going to carry out my grandparents wishes and ignore the will. Is it illegal to do so? What can I do to make sure my grandparents wishes are followed?
It is the executors legal duty to ensure that the will is followed. If the wishes are not outlined in the will then legally there is little that can be done. If you believe the will was not followed you can contest it, within 2 years of death.

@BettyCrockerr yes hard skin and just general pain, I don’t know does everyone go through this and I’m just weak! 🙈 I’ve just been thinking lately if I get invited to any event or wedding etc I don’t know what the hell I’ll do.. I feel the pumice stone is never out of my hand!!!

@Kim Mild I’m a sea swimmer and it’s definitely soothing on the feet!!! Not diabetic but when I Google my feet issues diabetes always pops up.. I might have to ask some diabetics for tips 😀. I’m fine if I’m standing/walking around all day in runners just seem to have so much hard skin and underneath Part of my feet is always hot. I can’t even go 30 minutes in a loafer, boots, anything other than runners… might just be low pain tolerance 🙈
have you looked up “burning feet syndrome”? (it has a fancier name but i can’t remember it 🤣)

it’s slightly concerning if the soles of your feet are always hot. i know it’s a symptom of diabetes so, like you say, there may be some tips there. have you tried wearing those cooling gel pads/patches in your shoes to help the pain? it sounds so uncomfortable and i feel for you :(

I've seen a few reviews saying after a while it becomes so uncomfy and starts to bunch on parts of the mattress. Thanks so much for the advice! I'll look into it a bit more but very handy to know the 200 night trial is legit incase I don't like it!
Get an OTTY, hands down best one!

My kid starts high school in a couple of weeks, and for the first time in my life I'll need to iron clothes!
Any advice on how to iron shirts?
I think I'll need a new iron - any recommendations for a goodun?
I'll also need an ironing board as mine is wonky and too low (I'm dead tall) - any recs for that?
Do I need one of them wee skinny ironing board jobbies for sleeves?

Thank you in advance for not shaming me for my lack of life skills 🤣
A lot of shops sell non iron shirts. I think you can hang them up straight from the wash! I tumble dry my children's school stuff which unfortunately means the shirts tend to need an iron.

I was taught to do sleeves first. Just lay the sleeve along the ironing board making sure it is smooth and the folds are in the right place. Then do the collar - with it fully flattened.

I always iron shirts buttoned up, although that isn't the 'proper' way (unbuttoned, each front panel, then the back panel).

I hate ironing though so I can't be faffed to be particular with it. So just lay it over the the board, again making sure the fabric is smooth, then iron. You might need to do the back as well. I then spot iron any bits that still look creased.

I've got a steam iron which makes things easier. You have to use a larger style ironing board with it but the good news is they go up really high! However, any bog standard iron and basic board will do.

Why did you both lie to start with? When they turned up with one, why didn’t you just explain that you’d bought one after enjoying it so much at theirs? Then they could have taken it back and got their money back and no one would be out of pocket and you wouldn’t now be caught in this ridiculous lie!

Give them it back and explain you’d already bought one.
I didn’t know you could return things after 3 months, thanks so much for your super helpful and kind reply!

I crochet in winter months. I used to get like rope burn on my left pinky finger but it turns out i was getting my tension wrong. There are different ways to hold the hook and yarn. Last year I taught myself how to hold my yarn differently from a youtube video and it worked for me. I am on a Crochet group page thing on Facebook and quite often others say they are having RSI issues etc. I think we just have to try not to hold the yarn and hook too tight, and also take regular breaks.
Thanks, I'll try an see if I can not hold onto it all too tightly, am still finding tension hard to work with, people on YouTube make it all seem like nothing 😅

So I've just tested positive for Covid 🙈 gutted isn't the word! As I understand it a LFT is all I need for confirmation, I don't need a PCR? But I do need at least 2 LFT on Day 5/6. I have enough LFT for this, but not if it goes on any longer. But where do I get extra LFT from?! They are not available online, and they are rarer than hen's teeth at the local pharmacies (which I can't get to myself). How do they expect us to do LFTs if they aren't making them available?!

Does anyone else experience lags in phone calls? It’s happened on Vodafone and Three now. It’s mainly when I call an 0330 number (usually after a massive hold so I don’t want to call back). It can be for the whole call or part way through they start hearing me 5 seconds after I’ve spoken.
Yes, I changed to Three last year and I get it a lot. It's extremely frustrating as it all sounds normal my end. I had a telephone appointment recently and she needed to get me through the security questions before she was able to give me a call back in the hope of a better line. I ended up having to say "and" at the beginning of every bit of info I was giving so it was the 'and' that was cut off not the actual info I was giving 🥴.

I wondered if it was something to do with WiFi calling and signal dropping out as mine automatically seems to switch to that. However I've tried turning the WiFi off and it was still happens so goodness knows.

Sounds like the torch is too dull for lamping/poaching?
We’ve woods nearby & the older generation is convinced anyone there past nightfall is part of a drugs drop/pickup. Apparently one hides them for someone else to find. I’ve always laughed but it sounds plausible in this situation.
It’s the reserve they’re looking at, not the houses right?
No its been the houses past two times I've seen them, they were facing the house with the torch held low so it only really caught the garden, I assumed the touch was dulled down so that if they caught the windows by accident then they didn't alert anyone like they would have if it had been bright, this morning though it was being shone across the reserve before they they turned it to the house but they were holding it low so it didn't hit the top windows, when they hit my window which I assume was a mistake it instantly got turned off an they walked away

I couldn't see it being drugs being hidden, it's insanly busy with people walking dogs during the day an kids out playing an dog walkers start around 5am, an no one else appears during the night/morning after this person until the dog walkers start to come out

This is very trivial but I'd be interested to know what others would do in this situation:

Went to in-laws at Christmas and complimented their sodastream, I'd never seen anything like it and liked the idea of making my own carbonated drinks. I liked it so much that I went and bought one myself and they are not cheap!

Fast forward to last weekend and the in laws came to stay, bringing a present with them - a soda stream! I looked at my husband and he was acting thrilled like we didn't have one sitting in the kitchen so I followed his lead...

Now I don't know what to do! I would just give mine away but I paid a bit more for a nice looking one with glass bottles and the one they've bought us is quite basic looking with plastic bottles. I'm so grateful of the thought and would have loved it had i not already bought one  Would you just suck it up and give away the nice one and replace with the one the in laws gave you?

Does anyone know if electric blankets are safe?! i see them sold a lot so I’m assuming they are and maybe I’m being over cautious but I just want opinions before buying. I live alone in a flat with plug in heaters (woooo renting 🫣🫡) and it can get cold when I’m in bed/waking up because there’s no way I’m plugging in those heaters overnight. might be a stupid question idk
My parents have had them for years an never had a problem, they just need a little while to heat up an it's good, if you are worried about them then maybe just put it on 30mins before you go to bed then it will be ready for when you are in bed an you can switch it off, rather than putting it on in bed an fear falling asleep with it on
