You’ve officially influenced me. This has been on my radar for ages but I have completely lost my reading mojo for the past 6 months. I don’t know how but I suddenly feel like reading again so downloaded it a few minutes ago. I’ve also had Demon Copperhead sitting next to my bed unopened. I’m a bit scared about what I’m setting myself up for. I’m guessing A Little Life is old news in the book thread?

always a bit scared to talk about books or the book thread here as some people dont like it.

I feel a little life goes too far and is misery porn. I also have some scepticism about the author who only seems to be able to write gay men and then torture them. However everyone does seem to enjoy is the wrong word. Speak highly of ALL

Finished Demon Copperhead last week and absolutely loved it. The story and characters are engaging and the writing is just impeccable.

I thought it was a known fact that she mimes/uses backing tracks for some songs? I assumed she did for some of the more dancey ones.
I don’t see much of an issue if she’s only doing it for some songs since it’s such an energy intensive show

That’s what I said in reply, that singers that move around more generally have moments in the chorus they can mime so they can catch their breath. I don’t understand this “revelation” and implying it’s the whole thing…

People who think she’s genuinely singing for 3 hours 3 x a week for 2 years need their head checked not only would you need superhuman fitness (which I don’t doubt she has) but surely that’s a one way ticket to having voice issues as you get older?

She uses backing track/background singers - the only set I feel backing track is super obvious is 1989 and tbh it makes sense. It's high tempo and further on the in the show

I had to sit down at points throughout the show and felt like I’d been knocked by a lorry the next day from just standing in my place
