But today we are on a 500 buck booze cruise....call it whatever you want, it's a booze cruise!

She's lost her way, she could have spent the next 12 months riding out the Pandemic showing everyone a real authentic Italy.

I got the impression they were really bored in Italy and regret buying the house there.
This trip has shown them up completely as being tit at traveling and not the gurus they claimed to be.

Yeah they are just flashpackers anyway. They have no idea how to backpack especially in places that aren't piss easy like SE Asia. SE Asia is just like a theme park for backpackers. I had to laugh once ages ago when she mentioned once about travelling in China. They would absolutely hate travelling here. They'd have no idea what they were in for.

I think cos they work and travel now their travels are going to be pretty boring along with the fact they haven't a clue what they're doing in South America. They don't seem interested in exploring and everything that comes with it, like taking long buses etc. Maybe cos they are older and richer now?

They should stay put in the one place for a few days and just do some travel planning and research. Didn't they used to get the ungracefuls to do travel planning calls for South America? They seem like they need one 😂.

Even the fact they left Mexico cos it was "too cold". Everyone knows to pack at least a fleece. How are they gonna do any hiking anywhere without warm clothes anyway?

I agree. Backpacking around SE Asia is very easy compared with other countries. They are welcoming of tourists and everything is relatively safe in tourist areas, buses and trains. Backpacking around central and South America is a different kettle of fish. I think everyone who goes expects to have some things stolen on the trip. I didn’t bring any tech, jewellery etc with me because a friend of mine who lives in Mexico told me that the general attitude among thieves is “if you could afford to buy it once, you will be able to buy it again if its taken.” So it’s seen as a victimless crime. I can’t believe anyone would leave a wifi booster outside their room and expect it still to be there anywhere in the world.

Janet is very narcissistic.... same as all the others. She thinks she is some sort of pioneer and doing us all a favor by travelling. She asked people to donate money to her for travelling 😂😂😂.
💯!!! She used to be low key and down to earth but she lost my respect when she dramatised her travels back to Ireland and whinged her way through the pandemic

I was in Bali at the same time as her and could tell it wouldn’t be stable in Feb, so I left. She didn’t read the room/decided to stay and paid the price.

Then she whinged her way through travels to Mexico (where she got covid, surprisingly… 🙄) and then kept travelling and breaking rules left right and centre in Indonesia as she “had“ to see places she really came across as very entitled

She did Kofi (even though she claims to make loads from her YouTube) and did fundraisers for a Balinese charity when she was in Indonesia. But i was sickened by the poverty porn she created while exploiting peoples pain. It was all to make herself feel better about being there, as she has no longstanding relationships with these people and never posted about them since. She could have donated time and money without being voyeuristic about how they live.

She’s going extreme now as it’s the only way she can get eyes on her YouTube… I haven’t looked but bet she’s not insured properly for those group trips either.

Nadia daily self is the only one that consciously created content throughout that was respectful, relatable and useful to people and the planet. I love that she is always shouting Irish brands too. The others seem to be running away from life…

Thank you for insight.. I have to say the stay in the luxury hotel in Lebanon after her stay in Syria because she "deserves" it has mildly irked me after initially being so impressed with her... "running away from life" also summarises my view on stephmylife... I think there is something mildly disconcerting about not wanting to stay somewhere permanently or for a few years at least... She said something recently about not having stayed somewhere longer than three days before while travelling (think it was in beginning in Mexico where they were for 10 days) Does it point to a deeper unhappiness I wonder? Or does it merely make convenient our criticism as some of us aren't in their carefree untethered position...

I didn’t say she wasn’t, I said I’d be surprised if insurance companies would provide it for groups to places like that without a huge indemnity (having looked into doing it myself before)

She has done ads before and does beg for cash every now and then to support her work or random charities while posturing over peoples pain.

There are sensitive and respectful ways to share these stories and what I saw when she was in Bali wasn’t it IMO

This is what I mean, Janet is effectively holidaying in peoples misery and making money from it via YouTube or group tours (for iraq anyway). The “I must rest now I’ve done my stint” kinda vibes are gross. She just moves onto the next project that will get more eyes on her YouTube, she’ll be in North Korea next 😂

I get what you mean, I used to travel a lot and could do now if I wanted as have no ties but choose not to as it doesn’t feel like the right thing to do right now. Which has been a big transition, but I feel it’s more responsible to stay in the country where I pay tax and contribute to healthcare while Covid rages. Which is why I vibe with Nadia more than the other two I guess.

Living in rural Italy isn’t easy but is fun when you make the effort to learn the language and get to know people. In my experience locals were keen to know about why i ended up there and show off their culture. I was surprised when Steph and Tim picked it as they don’t seem the type to really go all in anywhere. Choosing a house because it’s cheap is a terrible way to choose a home or an Airbnb investment! The ones that are pennies generally are as they have little infrastructure or jobs so the young have left as a result.
