I’ve rejoined this January (basic I know) and feel really motivated after going back to group and meeting a new consultant who actually has common sense (spoke about how speed foods work and actually mentioned calories!) which was refreshing.
So I’ve started following a load of accounts again to give me meal ideas and came across this this morning…

Now I’m sorry, but how is this ‘on plan’? A mini croissant covered in Nutella and mini eggs, for 11 syns?! (That’s each, she apparently only ate one of them). This is what winds me up about the whole insta fame shit - slimming world is all about food optimising, eating enough foods that are low calorie so you are full and consuming less, not eating tiny portions of super high calorie foods that won’t help your health or your hunger. I saw it this morning and thought “fuck me that looks delicious”, saw she’d had a 3lb loss and just felt a bit shit that I’ve been ramming spinach down my throat all week and still feel bloated. I know I can just unfollow (and I will) but people who haven’t done the plan before and aren’t wise to this bullshit will be taken in by all this and it winds me up

I really don’t miss SW. it had its place in my life but I think when you start questioning things you can never go back. I was never very adventurous with food and it did make me cook from a scratch and try new stuff and for that I will always be thankful for but the tweaks etc are just 🤢

‘Body magic’ wasn’t promoted at all so I did zero exercise.
One week in group they asked me what i'd been doing to lose 3lb that week. I said 'i've been walking more...not far though only a mile and half a day abouts but its up a steep hill'
The consultant looked at me like I had 5 heads and said 'its a lot more than I do' murmurs of agreement went through the group.
'For the plan to work you don't need to do that much walking but if you choose too with the amount you're doing you're working towards body magic gold award'

Before that I honestly didn't think a mile and half a day would even earn bronze let alone gold.

Anyway after that when it got to me in group consultant would just say another xlb down again this week, no problems I take it? You know what you're doing?' And basically skip over me.

She would then spend 10 mins talking to Sharon, Sue or Sandra about how the secret to their 1 lb loss was eating a cheesecake made with hifi bars, quark and options every night.

Why does Donna tackles slimming world feel the need to eat A WHOLE FUCKING CHICKEN each! Surely that’s taking I can be a greedy mare so I will to ridiculous levels!!
I think it was half the chicken each? But still too much 😂 I can eat and eat but even I'd be struggling with all that!!

Just looked at her stories and she seems like a bit of a sw bully. "We have loads of chats going and we mention it all the time" about people using ready made chips, Yorkshire puddings and gravy etc. What's the problem with that? If people want to use their syns on things like that then what's it got to do with her?

I've not followed any sw accounts for years, looks like the new group of sw bullies are coming out 😂

Has TheFoodieSlimmer/Charles’ account disappeared?
He left his wife and ran off to shack up with his one true beloved the ninja airfryer.
His wife deleted the account in a rage of jealousy.
Charles doesn't care though he's preoccupied and having too much fun sticking his sausages in the ninja whenever he wants*

*allegedly

For me, it wasn't the plan that 'caused' food issues.
I already had plenty of food issues but for me, it was the actual meetings and the way they are done.
Starving myself all day because I needed to make sure I didn't gain because then I'd basically be shamed infront of everyone in group after for gaining with things like, "Oh, you gained 1lb. What did you do wrong this week?"
"Let's go around the room and get you some advice for ways to help you lose next week"
Absolutely this. So it may well be class specific as maybe not all consultants are the same and thats why we dont all have the same experiences.

Im not saying I didnt overeat prior to SW because I did but the binge / restrict cycle due to the public nature of the classes and discussions was certainly introduced to me there. The jokes would be banded about regularly about wearing the same clothes to weigh in, dont drink after x time, dont eat after lunch.

Ultimately yes it was my choice to do this but I couldnt cope socially with the shame of gaining or maintaining or losing *just 1lb* as it was said in my class. When you were asked what you wanted to lose next week if you said 1lb it was always 'oh c'mon you can do better than that' youd have to give the ins and outs of your menstrual cycle to justify it. I know I hold weight more when I ovulate than on my period. 'Oh is it your star week?' No Brenda my ovary is popping out an egg.

Its never actually explained to you just how much you need to overeat to gain 1lb of fat. The age old muscle weighs more than fat is banded about a lot. Not that its just more dense and 1lb of feathers weighs the same as 1lb of metal.

Ive said it before on this thread CBT helped me so much more than any diet classes or coaches ever have.

Ive also said on this thread before that if you have lost weight with SW and its worked for you and continues to work thats amazing, being genuine here. Different strokes for different folks. If you go every week and dont need to pay a penny and its what keeps you on track Im never going to fault that.
