Today’s email should be a belter.
Shiv, you’re missing the “ism” from “Alcohol and your goals”.

Oh the furnace is open for a few days for new members to sign up... 🤔🤔
Not getting the interest she was expecting. Usually open for 30 seconds then spots are GONE! You're on a waiting list hun. 🤣🤣 Like why can't people just sign up whenever? Cause it would mean more work for her and less time bleeping about in Bali taking videos of herself rolling around sweating doing bjj for 2 hours. So cringe! Imagine setting up your phone camera at the gym while you're working out? So sad.

Why doesn't she introduce these 3 coaches on the page? She's saying spots are open to find more out about the Furnace but no info on the coaches. You'd figure it was important vif 3 of the coaches have these post partnum qualifications, you'd think that would be a selling point!

She must not think that the coaches are very good if she will still recommend you go see a post partum specialist first. They obviously only did a 2 day course

The old website is still active with a 59 Euro a month price on it.

What an absolute shambles. There has to be a reason why it's still live.

Hi ,

As you (hopefully) know, I believe in everything in moderation. Restriction of anything you really like can lead to a blowout.

I remember when I was prepping for the bikini competition and I would find my Instagram feed full of calorific foods oozing with Nutella. My body was craving calories and instagram knew that’s what I wanted to see.

It’s only now, with very little restriction in my life, that I notice some bikini competitors that I still follow, sharing these gluttonous foods - and they don’t really appeal to me any more, because I can have them whenever I want. Which, it turns out, is not that often.

Over the last few years, I’ve contemplated my relationship with alcohol a lot and I’ve currently come to the conclusion that removing it all together would not be the best option for me.

Why?

Because it isn’t hindering my current goals.

Plus I just can’t imagine a life where you can’t have a cheeky margarita on Taco Tuesday!

But what about yourself?

Most of my clients have a goal of fat loss.

I’m not the kind of coach that tells you what to do.

I like you to make informed decisions.

As we know, dropping body fat needs an energy (caloric) deficit.

This week, I managed to be in a caloric deficit, despite drinking a lot on Saturday and going for pizza with my friends last night.

How?

Activity was high over the week and weekend. Even when I woke up on Sunday, I had 6000 steps done from my late night dancing!

I was a bit too hungover on Sunday to eat until the afternoon on Sunday, so I had enough calories for pizza and cookies.

(This is, of course, not conducive with health, but I’m just showing that you can be in a calorie deficit and having fun)

Now, if you’re reading this in disgust that a personal trainer lives like this, maybe I’m not the coach for you.

I also know that my Sundays are my lazy days and that I will be back to my productive, healthy and fit self on a Monday so I’m not beating myself up about it.

For my clients, I like them to try not to overhaul their life but to live it with more awareness and look out for small habits that they could change that might illicit a calorie deficit.

E.g. Perhaps they go out at the weekend for dinner and drinks and it ends up with them in a calorie surplus. I don’t want any guilt around this. I want them to journal their thoughts on how they are feeling, with their goals and values in mind.

If they are really set on fat loss as a goal, then they might decide that next time they’ll go for the dinner and not drink, or they will eat at home and then go for drinks, or they will make sure to get up and do some movement on the Sunday, OR perhaps they are really clear on their values of enjoying time with friends and family and practice acceptance that it will mean a slower route to their fat loss goal - and that’s perfect!

I like to use a “no hangover” rule for the majority of the time (last weekend was a special occasion!), which means I can have a nice glass of wine with dinner or a margarita but only enough that I don’t feel it the next day.

At the moment, I’m not that fussed about a fat loss goal, but currently my main goal is building the new version of The Furnace and learning how to market it properly.

So if you would like some help getting to your goals, in an empowered way, you can join The Furnace today. If you have any questions or doubts whether it is suitable for you, please reply here and we’ll see if you’re a good fit!

Thanks for reading,

Of all the very obvious things to say about that email, the bit that really irked me was “We’ll see if you’re a good fit!”

Good God almighty. So unlikeable, and she doesn’t even have to try.

Pizza on the weekend?? Session moth at the weekend and a midweek tipple? Cool wine aunt goals?

If you're a yes to all of these questions, come on in!

Thanks for reading,
What a load of dribble. She never offers any advice or tips in these mails, this one is basically just a recount of her weekend to almost prove that she had friends and a social life! If I was on the fence about signing up to the furnace this wouldn’t win me over at all! I can’t imagine it’s doing that well given that she’s opened it up so anyone can sign up at anytime now.

Where to start with that email
There was too many points of BS, but this 1 stood out early re alcohol
Because it isn’t hindering my current goals

alcohol also seems to be effecting your memory. It was only a number of days ago that you had to retreat to a hide away in the cliffs to try and recover the piss poor furnace 4.0 launch. After you spent the weekend on the piss, with a 14 hour session.
A programme launch that was weeks after the peak season for fitness programmes.
Moderation would of been able to go out enjoy the company of your friends, come home at reasonable time and reasonable level of intoxication that you could function the next day.
Or perhaps growing/saving your business is not currently a goal :unsure::unsure:

Maybe I'm wrong- but does she actually 'coach' anyone personally? She has 3 (nameless/faceless) coaches to do the furnace work, and all I've ever seen her do is a weekly facetime/zoom session with members.
The relaunch was a mess. Outdated info/websites are still up & running. It's pretty unprofessional for one who claims this is her passion in life.
I don't know one person who follows her for fitness/nutrition 'advice'- they're all watching the car crash and shaking their heads...

My pet peeve with Siobhan is she always says things are “light” or her runs are “slow” when she’s lifting more than a lot of people who will work with her. Stuff like this makes beginners or even intermediate lifters think they can’t post things like squatting an empty bar.

Agreed, this all the time.. what’s light for her might be impossible for someone else. Why not just say.. squatted today. As she doesn’t read messages or allow comments on her stories no one would be able to say anything negative!!!
