If you passed someone on the street and they ask for money to get their kids food and you had them a tenner in good faith and you then see them go into a shop and buy alcohol, what are you going to do! Its the exact same as GFM pages.
Unless you know the person, stop handing over your money unless you are willing to forget about it once the transaction is complete.

I sense a little moderating here.

Fact of matter, people feel cheated. Entitled to post and do whatever they feel necessary to stop wrong doing, within the law.
Almost 200k was got tax free. Also the recipient is on state benefits. I am a tax payer. I don't pay my taxes of hard earned money to essentially watch this one who is unemployed, and going first class on the train....living the life.

When you donate to a GFM page you are agreeing to hand over money and once it leaves your account that's it, it's gone and no longer yours.
We all know they are not regulated so no point saying you were scammed now.
I don't care what she does with the money because I don't personally know her so therefore I wasn't handing over any of my money.
You are all wasting your time and energy on this as she has absolutely no obligation to tell you what happened the fund.
Her worst case scenario is her insta fame ends but she still walks away with 175k while you are all wasting time reporting her everyday

I have no doubt that she'll keep whatever is left of the money. She's not stupid, I'd imagine she researched to the high hills about any money donated to her from Go Fund Me. I firmly believe she's transferred most of it into seperate accounts, family members account - investments, so yes - you are right, the money will stay with her.

However, are you saying she shouldn't be held accountable for her actions? I guarantee, all of this is only coming to light because of this forum, and rightly so. It's growing momentum and people are questioning her. Her attitude to people, some of which donated personally, is shocking. She simply blocks and calls them trolls. Leaving all of that aside, it's making people look at donating so freely to these fundraisers that have no real accountability, again - this is something good and is a result of threads like this.

Lastly, your last line - "her insta fame will end". I think I speak for the majority here when I say that's what should happen. If anything good can come from this - it's that she's shown herself for the person she is, and people will respond by unfollowing her. In her own words - it's her "career". All actions have consequences.

I agree she got that money under false pretences ..and many don't see it as a waste of time regardless of the gfm she needs to account for the nastiness she gave to Missy all because she asked a genuine question and a major apology is due.
She's a nasty devious individual and people should see her for what she is and yes if the reporting means she loses her blue tick all the better because what kind of scum gains money of the back of having cancer .

Agree that the money is no longer yours once you donate to a GFM. However , the issue here is

1) shannon reached her original goal that she needed to cover transport , rent etc and got greedy and reopened it

2) If you look at her update from January last year Shannon says she will pay it forward and help someone else with money or accommodation. And will also donate to 2 hospitals- all of which is to happen. Raising money under false pretences is fraud. She also says feel free to ask questions aka ‘ if you DM and question me, you’ll be blocked’

3) I don’t think it’s just about the money now. It’s her spoilt self entitled attitude and the way she spoke to missy and about missy to tea spill. She’s begging messages to be deleted as it’ll ruin her ‘insta career’. That’s all she cares about. To anyone else no amount of money would make up for the stress this is no doubt causing her - she can put it right and give people answers instead of avoiding it.
At the end of the day, people have a right( not a legal right but a common decent one!) to know where the money went.

In the original GFM it also said she will have medical expenses that will need covering when in fact her treatment was all free. It’s still there.

“This is an extremely difficult time, and financially it is crippling. They have a young daughter, rent, medical bills and all the costs that any young couple have, with little income to support them.”

Now I do kind of get where Nosey Niamh is coming from and I’d be of a similar mind myself, as in once you donate any money at all to either a GFM or a friend or whatever - consider it gone and it’s theirs now to do whatever with. However, Shannen did make a series of stipulations last year and outlines exactly her plans for this massive heap of unused money and so people are expecting her to do what she herself said she would do, and help someone else in need out and donate a large chunk. Also even if (according to her) it’s only 1% of people who are questioning where the money is, that 1% deserved to be listened to.

It’s actually embarrassing that she has to be pressured into giving an update on this and hasn’t done so out of the goodness of her heart and appreciation of all that was done for her. I can only assume from her avoidance of the topic that she is just hoping everyone forgets about the money and it all goes away. She genuinely seems to think she was given that money just because she had cancer, when it was outlined clearly in the original GFM description that medical costs needed to be covered when all of her treatment was actually free. I really don’t blame people for wanting answers on this. I would however stop short of calling her a scammer, I just feel like she is a dishonest and really immature and selfish person.

I think it's the way she has been brought up, so spoilt that she just expects to get what she wants and have everything handed to her on a plate and when she doesn't get what she wants, she throws her dummy out of the pram. Now I know she's had cancer and I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but having cancer doesn't give you the right to behave the way she has...

@NoseyNiamh another reason why Shannen has infuriated and upset so many on here is also the nasty messages she sent me and then the manner in which she spoke about me to Tea Spill. So I am actually blown away that so many are giving so much of their time……not wasting it in my opinion……to stand up for what they believe in.
