I actually think Bear might have an underlying issue, not that it would be an excuse for his appalling misogynistic comments and behaviour but might explain his unrelentingly atrocious bad choices and lack of basic intelligence.
Watched a programme (celebs go dating?) where they pulled his parents into an interview to discuss how unacceptable his behaviour was, and my impression was that his Dad was not too dissimilar to Bear, he found it all really funny just like Bear so

It’s often the way that children follow their parents attitude towards things. If his Dad has no respect for other peoples feelings then its more likely he wont either. Children tend to follow their parents example. Jamie and Camilla who met in series 3 (best series) are still together and now have a little baby girl. They work a lot with charities and seem like very nice people. Mind you, they were problem-free whilst they were on the island, so I guess they didn't have much growing up to do anyway!
