I watched Host recently and it is the first film for years that properly made me scream and jump at the end
Me too! The friend floating at the window, tapping to let him in stuck with me for over 10 years. Nowadays I sleep under my window with the blinds open!I've also watch a lot of horror. It's my favourite genre and as such I don't really find them scary but occasionally one does leave you feeling very uncomfortable. One of those films for me was 'Sinister'. Really unnerving and creepy. I started watching it one night and switched it off because I felt unnerved but was strangely drawn back to it the next day to finish it. I've never watched it again and never watched the sequels.
As a teenager 'Salem's Lot' was my scariest TV. I made sure all the windows were shut for months afterwards
I've never heard of this Ghostwatch, I want to see it

Can't remember the name of the film, but it was set on a cruise ship and most people onboard got murdered at the beginning in a gruesome way. The survivors spent the rest of the film trying to defeat/escape the killers. Edit: just remember it was called Ghost Ship.
There was another film where people were held captive and were murdered by some demon-like creatures in gruesome ways.
Open Water - it's a true story, and made me never want to go scuba diving or swim in the sea

I forgot about that! I saw that at the cinema. Don’t know if it was the same film but was it the one where this sharp wire or something went through the ship and decapitated most of the guests?
Arachnophobia - Huge fear of spiders and seeing the house covered at the end in spiders filled me with complete anxiety I was near sick.

I've heard of Funny Games but I never watched it , don't like it when dogs are killed! I never watched Eden Lake for the same reason.

Return to Oz I remember watching it with my sister at my grandparents, even now thinking of The Wheelers makes me shudder and it’s been 20+ years.
I love Return to Oz! One of my favourite childhood films, but it is creepy with those wheelers and the witch with all the different heads. Certainly wasn’t anything like Wizard of Oz

I enjoyed Ghost Ship.
I saw on Amazon there is a film called Death Ship from 1980. The posters for both films are very similar. I may give Death ship a watch at some stage.

The Others always sticks with me. Super creepy and atmospheric, genuinely think it’s one of the best supernatural horrors I’ve ever seen.
I would highly recommend the tv show of The Exorcist. Unfortunately it got cancelled after two series but it was genuinely creepy and really good. Still gutted that it didn’t get a third series.

woman in black in the west end stayed with me for the years. For some reason the empty rocking chair just freaks me outThe woman in black -I think is a 12 but it scared the tit out of me
there was a show a few years ago (I think Whitechapel but it might not have been) where a couple are lying in bed and the killer comes through the ceiling?! That was awful too

The Ring is on BBC1 tonight after Eurovision at 1205am.
I always prefer ghost stories like The Others or The Woman In Black to an all out gore fest. I've never watched the Saw films for that reason. They don't appeal. Films that let your imagination do the work are the best.
I've just remembered The Changeling with George C Scott was brilliant at that.

I went to see that when it came out and I was so scared I stretched my favourite jumper putting it over my head..not sure why I didn't just shut my eyes tbh.
I remember watching Ghostwatch with my wee sister in my room and being terrified! Just rewatched Twin Peaks, Bob is so scary and some of The Return terrified me too.
im exactly the same. Torture porn movies don’t interest me in the slightest. I love a good supernatural horror.
Anyone else looking forward to the new Conjuring film?? I can’t wait
