Hey! Sorry if this has been asked.
I went privately to see about my weight and been told it’s mainly due to my pcos being insulin resistance. The dr wants me to loose a lot of weight before we look into other things. I am also desperately wanting a child but have to do IVF and I need to loose weight for that.
The dr offered me a prescription and I’m just to get in touch with him. Is it cheaper to do this route or am I as well doing the online pharmacies? Sorry I have been researching it so much my head has gone to mush lol
Hey I’m not on Saxenda but I lurk on this thread as I’m fascinated by it and if it weren’t for a fear of having to inject myself I would take it 😂
I have pcos - the insulin resistant type, do you take anything for it? I’m not sure what type of doctor you’ve seen but I’d recommend getting referred to an Endocrine specialist as PCOS is a hormonal
imbalance and they’re going to be best placed for help - I see one every 4/6 months. I take metformin which has really helped me with my pcos symptoms and also my weight and it definitely makes me less hungry. Xx

The reason I’m on saxenda is so we can have IVF and I didn’t want weight loss surgery, here to be support whenever you need 🖤
I get my pen from simple pharmacy.

Took a break for a month only gained 3lb, back on it tomorrow!

Fun fact - I’m terrified of needles. But injecting myself with saxenda isn’t so bad. The needle is really tiny

I’ve just ordered 2 more pens, we’ll waiting for the consultation to be accepted! I lost 2 stone on saxenda previously and have maintained the weight loss for months but struggling to lose any more myself. I’m still 3 stone overweight and hoping to get rid of at least 2 more! Last time I came off because my weight loss completely plateaued and due to the side effects but I’m hoping to just stay on lowish doses again and shift a bit more in the next 8 weeks

where do you even inject yourself? like can you feel yourself doing it? i just feel like i’d hesitate too much and make it into such a big thing! if it was a tablet i’d take it 😂

I've seen someone on TikTok (Ashley.saxenda) saying she's now doing 2 days of injections and then 1 day without... because she is getting sulphur burps.

I really disagree with people messing about with dosages and then flaunting it online like it's the right thing to do. It gives Sax a bad name!

People that have purchased more than once from boots:

Do you have to re fill in the consultation to buy more pens, or can you just add them to the basket?

Hey, I take metformin but I was off it for a while as my new GP practise weren’t keen on giving it for anything other than diabetes. Found I gained more weight than expected being off it.
I was referred to an endocrinologist when I had concerns about my weight gain 3/4 years ago and seen them but all they said was you have pcos, to lose weight and come back when I want to get pregnant. Now they won’t see me until I lose weight. That’s when I went private this year and they also just said ‘lose weight’ It was such a waste of money. Neither would even tell me what type of pcos I had, or anything about it so just trying to educate myself x

Ah I’m so sorry that you’ve had that experience with them. Unfortunately it is part of what they say however mine were able to give me other reassurances and help me understand things and actually know what I was talking about unlike my GP. Would the endocrine not prescribe it for you? That’s who prescribed mine for me not my GP. I had to research and figure it all out myself to push for a referral to a specialist too - it’s a joke how under-researched and just overlooked PCOS is.

I hope you have a good time with Saxenda and lose the weight you want to xxx

Week 9 results - 1.5lbs off giving me a total loss of 21.5lbs so far 🥳. Was away on a 5 day hen as well so doubly chuffed to have lost this week.

Congrats that is brilliant!

I'm on Week 15 but had a bit of a reset so started tracking my calories again and reduced carbs. Going to a theme park in 8 weeks and want to make sure I fit on everything

hey! I’ll be one week done tomorrow. No scale change yet but eating at least half of what I was, and I no longer just ‘want’ food/think about it too much which is a bonus in itself.
buuut I am due to go on holiday this weekend (last min booking) has anyone travelled with the jab?

I have- currently on holiday now (pre bed tattle scroll!) if you have a look above there’s some posts about not putting it in your hold luggage because of the extreme temps. Needs to go into hand luggage. I have to carry lots of extra kit and needles anyway as I’m a type 1 diabetic and no ones ever asked for any “proof” as to why I have needles etc. I just make the X-ray security people aware that I have needles in the bag and I put my insulin and now my saxenda pens into a small cool bag with an ice pack. They didn’t bat an eyelid. Some people do just put it in their suitcase but if it freezes down below the plane it can degrade the effectiveness of it.

Great! Thank you so much 😊 I’m just taking hand luggage so that’s perfect. Good shout about the cool bag!!

My first week done and I've lost 5lbs! Yay! Although I forgot my jab yesterday and today I've been picking like crazy. No side effects yet and hoping to lose a stone by the end of the month!

Another pound down which takes me to 18lbs so far, really happy with that as I haven’t been shy with nights/meals out recently but want to knuckle down

Still on 1.8 and moving to 2.4 friday

Really weird I am in week 16 and changed my diet slightly to reduce carbs over the last 2 weeks. My appetite has now completely disappeared. I've had 600 kcal today and having to force food in. Not sure how this has suddenly happened after so long!?

Hey 😊 I started yesterday and was absolutely fine, but today I had such a sore head and sickness.
I was wondering how long the side effects lasted for others? Worried I felt so bad today on the lowest dosage. Thanks x

I will be a week tomorrow so side effects are still fresh in my head. I had bad tiredness and horrible nausea on first 2 days, I was thinking thank god I’m not in work. Since then I get some nausea once a day but it doesn’t last too long at all - I drink a bottle of water when I get sicky not sure if that’s what helps or not. So yeah first 2 days I was a bit worried too but been fine since!
