Ok so I listened to the out$poken podcast to see what they’re saying about the fox YouTube channel. (I’m currently wiped out with the flu and have nothing better to do
)
So apparently during a healthcode podcast episode she said she’d always wondered if one of her kids would ever want to start a YouTube channel. She then say’s Fox apparently has asked them if he could start a cooking channel. Then they “debated back and forth if they would let him start a channel”, Sarah apparently didn’t seem keen but Kurt was saying to just let him do it. But then they both start discussing the logistics of how it would work (so Sarah doesn’t actually seem that opposed to it). They’d turn off comments so no one could troll him.
Sarah says “it’s up to us to manage it, and protect him from what he’s consuming and creating. I just want to make sure with all my kids they’re creating content that’s fun”.
Sarah says he’s worried about him being trolled, and the girls make a good point that he’s been on her channel since he was born and could be trolled there. The out$poken girls then raise the issues of pedophiles and the psychology of raising fox on YouTube. Every time the camera is there, he’s been taught it’s a way to get attention, so it becomes a performance for him. They then talk about how it’s fine to film your kids, but it’s unecessary to upload it to the public. They then talked about Sarah saying she doesn’t want to use her kids for content, and how hypocritical it is. They talk about how much money child YouTubers make, and how exploitive it is.
Then they bring up the fact she’s bringing out a cookbook, so she could be leaning into a cookbook for kids too and bringing fox into it.
With YouTube’s term and conditions, you have to be 13 to use the service. But children of all ages can be on YouTube with permission of their parents/guardians. So that’s how Sarah would get around that.
Then at the end of the healthcode podcast, Sarah ends it by saying that fox will still be cooking on her channel, so everyone should go subscribe and watch there
Overall, the out$poken girls called her out for it, which was good, glad they’re not justifying her still.
