Exactly what I thought! After losing our daughter at 39+6 I worked with the bereavement team in our hospital and bereavement midwife, and obviously been in contact with loads of parents in our situation.... It is proven that it is riskier and riskier when you pass 39wks. Hence why for our 2nd pregnancy I was not allowed to pass 37-38wks (same for all others in my group who lost their baby after 38wks). Oh and I was low risk for my 1st too.
Yes I dont think it is helpful to message this to a heavily pregnant mum, BUT she needs to stop with her "know it all" attitude. Even her sister, who is a midwife, often have to correct her on other pregnancy subject, and she still doesn't listen... Statistics are statistics, yep they are crap and we dont want to hear/think about it, especially whilst pregnant, but she needs to stop thinking she knows everything about pregnancies
.
God sheâs such an idiot. I mean sure I donât agree with messaging random people off the internet but at the same time, replying and saying thatâs not true that babies are safest out at 39 weeks when all the statistics point to otherwise is just idiocy and spreading more misinformation. The least stillbirths happen at 39 weeks and your risk gets higher with each day you go over 39. Itâs a broad sweeping statistic but true nonetheless. Disagree with the message telling you what to do, sure. But donât spread misinformation for the fun of it. And who needs to see you in your undies AGAIN?! No one.
