I'm not sure about sprout fronds 🌿
Quite. They are not fronds. She’s an idiot and The Guardian’s lack of subbing is clear. Technically they are bud scales, but outer leaves would have done. This has made me disproportionately cross 😂😂

A frond, Sali, is a large, divided leaf as seen in ferns.

Sali and her trusty thesaurus strikes again
She can’t even use a thesaurus properly.

Why does she feel the need to say “we paid”?

Paying is NORMAL.

I always read it as “we paid, but we could’ve got it for free. How wonderful we are to pay our way.”

She’s THERE!! 🎉🎉

Seriously, wtf is this picture for?!
Never? She used to 'love face powder' and look really matte all the time. Anyway this just looks greasy/sweaty, not what I would think of as glowy at all. If I catch sight of myself looking like this I'm straight off to the loos to powder!

I've been lurking for a week or two looking at old threads and following this one. You lot are great. I've been a Sali follower for 10+ years but over the last few years found the guardian columns increasingly shite and been lost as to where to find recommendations and I've noted down so many things from here! I don't have Instagram so had no idea what she was really like now. It's so disappointing.

I mean maybe she doesn’t do any exercise & ‘chins’ chocolate & curry all day & everyday. But surely a feminist like she claims to be can see what a damaging narrative that is perpetuating when she posts that shit on social media? Why do it if it isn’t a stealth boast.
Yes that is it. Whether it is true or not isn't really the point. She is obsessed with being thin. And young looking. Obsessed. But it has to be effortless. She can't easily admit to tweakments or exercise. She did refer to intermittent fasting on a podcast somewhere but even then she said it wasn't to do with watching her weight as her whole family having always been naturally slim and she doesn't have to.
Always boasting. Always superior.

Just read the Jane Fonda interview - it gets really sad when this absolute icon and legend talks about how she can’t work unless she looks attractive, she needs men to think she looks good, and she’ll put more effort in to her appearance if she knows she’s going to be talking to a man, even if it’s just a male doctor.

Sali’s conclusion to the article:

If my being a woman has made her make less effort today, then I can’t imagine how she could look any more beautiful than this for a man.

Yuck. And then there are five product recommendations, all from L’Oreal.
Feminism?

After watching the Cult Beauty video I am fascinated to know what Head and Shoulders think of her being an ambassador.
She said her whole family only ever use Aveda haircare products. I am baffled as to why they chose her and why she accepted? Hasn't she always said she would never take money for recommending something she doesn't use?

£50 as 'affordable' makes me want to scream. The Ordinary, The Inkey List, some Superdrug/Boots own lines are affordable £5-10 per item brands, with brands like Garnier, some Body Shop, Q+A, Superfacialist, some Indeed Labs etc being mid-range affordable and the likes of La Roche Posay, some premium drugstore ranges, Nip +Fab, Vichy etc being at the top end of what you could claim as 'affordable'... these people live on a different planet

Sorry apologies for my language. I'm sick of these people getting free stuff and then getting paid a fortune to advertise it. Sali especially irks me as she is so dull, humourless, devoid of any personality. Her rudeness and arrogance the way she talks to people is awful.
You got me thinking about apologising. It's so often the right thing - and the smart thing - to do. I can't think of an instance where someone has apologised and it hasn't made me view them more positively. And I don't think there's ever been a situation where I've apologised and haven't felt better for doing so.

What if, when Estee Laundry was posting about SH 'stalking' people on social media, she'd posted a brief apology (even with a bit of self-justifying) instead of going on the attack? I think she'd have stopped these threads in their tracks. Or at least I, for one, wouldn't be here.

Sali seems rather behind the times. The green makeup trend has been around for a while. I bought the CT Rebel palette 18 months ago, bought the Glossier Herb when it came out about 3 years ago and bought the Essie khaki polish in the summer. Maybe I should write the column? 😉

Watch out, she’ll petition for vanilla to be renamed custard so that she can pretend to be the “palest of them all”.
She obsesses over the weirdest stuff.
It comes as such a relief in life when you realise you are not exceptional in any way. Not especially clever, or funny, or small, or beautiful or pale or interesting, or quirky. Just a normal human.
I think most people come to this realisation quite early on mind you. Unless my exceptional gift was realise how unexceptional I was quite young 😂

Those things have chlamydia 😤 😜

The length is a strange call, and the pose is just silly. Why is she copying young influencers and their annoying affectations? She really has lost her way

That lipstick is FROM £75?!
Yes but it’s specially formulated to suit no-one

Jesus, what simpering rot. Move over the NHS, Nez Hasan is here to “heal your trauma”. Google reviews suggests that she most does not deserve this hagiography.

The negative reviews across the years have a lot in common: requesting cash only, being rude, giving a completely different level of service to celebs/insta babes compared to civilians, responding aggressively to complaints. This info is all available to Sali before she lauds the woman in the national press.

Truly, I think this is the worst of Sali’s exploits. To actively promote this practioner to women at their most vulnerable - during or recovering from cancer - is absolutely shameless and so irresponsible.

——-

The first hit on googling ‘Naz Hasan reviews’ is this blog, which claims that Naz was still having trouble with her card machine and requesting cash only, even in her smart new salon in 2019.

This backs up what @Mrs Mangel said here:

I think that ship sailed a long time ago. In fact the more I see of SH the more I wonder at her ever choosing 'honesty' as her defining characteristic. I think honesty is simply not her default setting.

I know others who are like that, including a good friend. While for me, honesty is my instinctive - almost my only - approach or response in any situation, for others it's as if being honest is just one option amongst others. It doesn't seem to be that important - with self-interest or a desire to impress or please being more important.
