I'd imagine my claim that "Becky" is one of the two big lies. I stand by it, the account read like pure fiction, particularly the bit where "Becky" turned to her as she was leaving and said "I still don't know what it was all about".
Apologies, I've misquoted Becky:

"It was a way of me trying to solve my own problems," reflected Becky. "It's actually nothing to do with you."

Before leaving, she shrugged and added: "It doesn't make sense to me either".

I’d love to know what Becky was supposed to have posted. Because without checking I have posted along the lines of....

The forum was a weird cult that was obsessed with suquu foundation and Tom Ford lipstick.

She loves to mention how tiny she is and that her husband is Jewish and that she was a teenage runaway.

Lauren’s actually prettier than her.

‘Auntie Fee’ was always a twit.

Can’t remember the rest but nothing I’m ashamed of.

ETA: That I, like so many others would check her columns before I bought most beauty products. Because we trusted she was impartial. I feel stupid for trusting her recommendations as it’s on me. Of course she’s getting paid.

It makes no sense as it's clearly an opinion so can't be a lie.

The much quoted by Sali "she'd sell her own children" is also someone's opinion and obviously figurative language that she hasn't quite got her head around. No one said Sali has put her children for sale on ebay.

Personally I think the "Becky" meeting is a figment of her imagination. It's just too convenient that Becky said exactly everything that fits into Sali's narrative

What a ridiculous hill to die on. Becky, if you are here, I hope you are feeling better after you confessed your sins to Sali - and she absolved you with some Caudalie facial mist.

No idea whether or not Becky is real, but the account did read like a very badly-written, amateurish film scene. That line in particular, as well as the description of Becky as "affluent-looking" (ugh), and describing the weather on the morning they met a grand total of *three* times in a few paragraphs. Hammering home that screenwriting trope a bit too hard there (especially for a film specialist) 🤓

I can imagine Becky saying if but I’d have thought it would have been more to do with Sali supplying her with the right lines-
‘It was a way of you solving your own problems wasn’t it? It was nothing to do with me. It probably doesn’t make sense to you either"
if I was trying to explain myself to a heated and defensive public figure I’d be really nervous and probably look for a way off the hook.

So I’ve just read her piece on the BBC News app. I really don’t like the suggestion that she (and others) thinks we are sad, nasty individuals with no value in our life. What a superiority complex to have - and that’s why people talk about her. The same way you would if your boss or friend acted this way.
I honestly think at some level she's getting validation from this. It makes her feel important. She's lucky she doesn't have real trolling such as the death and r@pe threats other women have received.

It's getting her lots of sympathy, likes, attention and "Poor Sali, she's so brave standing up to those horrible jealous trolls"

The Facebook group and forum thing (Sali’s and other similar ones) are all about being part of a tribe / group with a hierarchy of queen bees and a leader. You see it in product groups like Lucy & Yak, baby wearing forums (who has the best and most exclusive) and Caroline Hirons, Hinch, Styled by Susie, even Beauty Pie given their club format etc. it always goes in waves with everyone commenting on the love and support in the group compared to elsewhere, followed by drama, disillusionment etc and then back (sometimes) to the lovefest.

I can imagine that it’s quite powerful for one of the acolytes to meet the leader and apologise for their wrong doing in criticising them - the attention and forgiveness must be huge.

it’s been quite a successful PR stunt for her so far in terms of likes and clicks, has possibly boosted her IG followers too, more ££.

Not honestly sure why she feels this crusade will cover her in glory, when the surface is scratched she doesn’t come out of it too well and I don’t just mean her own personal actual social media trolling of others.

Anyway, she will no doubt rally her mates to pat her on the back tomorrow in case R4’s listener numbers aren’t high enough at 8pm on a Tuesday night. I sadly can’t listen tonight due to something else going on, might give it a listen tomorrow though. Shall look forward to reading the fact checks here 👊

"I’ve long since advocated the use of scrunchies to preserve volume without washing and blowdrying from scratch"

At least she's consistent with this one:

Is this about the funeral she basically live-streamed, tagged her outfit and jewellery and had sponsored by Revlon?

I haven't been on thread for ages bc she's boring but I just clocked her latest Instagram post and was 🙄

She really does have a flair for the dramatics. Jess Philips had terrible abuse levelled at her on FB and Twitter in the run up to the last election. It was horrible to read and I felt for her. How SH can conflate what is, essentially, a group of people chatting away from her is mind boggling. I wonder if she marches up to people gossiping in pubs and coffee shops and demands they stop?
