I think that comment using the phrase "thick" is being used to say someone isn't that bright or is stupid.It's a very common Irish phrase, used particularly in Dublin. It's so insulting to say that about your wife, especially to your child. He is gross in every way and is so performative in his interactions with his family, a complete fraud.

It sounded to me like he meant “thicc “….he’s creepy.

Anna suggested something to do with reading? And he opens the box and it's those Tonie Box things that read audio books to you. I should have known given her history of enlisting the services of Alexa to read the bedtime story
