Having a deep-dive watch into roobee's old videos — I can't help but see the comparison between her god-awful bootleg hermione insipred fringe to that of pre-bonded fibreglass nail tips. View attachment 2865499View attachment 2865501
Whatever happened to that mate she had that was also called Ruby? And they were like "twins" Both obsessed with Hermione, etc.

I'm also still baffled she's using 'Granger' Ruby Bones is a much cooler name (one thing I will say I like about her, haha)

Personally I don't think Blakeney and Ruby are a couple and that people may wish they were or are reading into things that just don't exist. Lots of people share beds when travelling and it doesn't mean a thing. Married or non-married, I've slept next to other women and that is it. We chat, we fall asleep. Nothing going on. Maybe it saves on money, maybe we are at a home or on retreat and chose to share for convenience sake, or there simply isn't a choice in the matter. Simple as that. I believe Ruby admires Blakeney, is attached to her to some degree, is amazed to have a friend, but I also think Blakeney, while being a kind and patient person, only feels friendship with Ruby and isn't calling out on the top of her lungs that Ruby is her favourite person or her best friend. She may very well not be, and as Blakeney makes friends throughout her life, possibly marries, has inlaws, co-workers, neighbours, etc., she will find better and more mature friends than Ruby. Ruby has a tremendous amount of maturing to do. I don't think sex even passes through her head, let alone casual dating. More than likely she sees it as a fun way to pretend she is a kid having a sleepover, like Anne Shirley and Diana Barry in Anne of Green Gables, who also shared a bed, or how she used to have sleepovers with her cousins a few times a year. She doesn't seem to know who or what she is or will be, so I think a lot of people are imagining things for the sake of creating more curious content.

Gosh I miss our pretending-to-be-a-writer girlypop. Come on why can't she just drop out and twirl around in her garden again. At least we got regular videos.

I don’t think she needs to take these entry level, admin, library volunteer jobs like people are suggesting. She needs to give herself a kick and make her content better.

She already has an audience, if she would just be smart about it she could get good ads and make good connections with publishers to get a children’s book deal to keep some money flowing in. If she had been proactive with her business (or had better management?) she could have tried to do partnerships with shops to get her stationery stocked on physical shelves. If she had worked at it, she could have found a niche on TikTok for her stationery and gone viral and sold through TikTok shop and her website. But she’s lazy, she doesn’t invest in the business and she’s terrified/paralysed of what seems like basically any adult decision. All she can do is ‘school’/uni.

Her relevancy online is only going to dwindle as the years go on and the chance at all this money will slip away.
I fully agree with this!! She has an incredible following, it'd be foolish to let that go to waste and the fact she didn't grasp that opportunity during her gap year really confuses me. She'd do well to knuckle down with Pumpkin Productivity and start to make products to sell in traditional stores and bookshops, and even get these books written and published if she was so serious about it, or just to create good content about the creation of said books. It feels like such a waste seeing her regurgitate the same sorts of videos when she has the opportunity to do so much more with her platform and actually get good at what she's already doing. She's been on the platform for a good few years now and her content and videography haven't really changed, it's all this gifted-child facade that is dwindling very quickly and isn't solid enough to become anything more than it is. She's in an amazing position but with all jobs, you need to work hard and it really seems her content is an afterthought whilst she still lives in this fantasy of what she was told when she was in school. I don't expect everyone to have incredible video skills but it's not as if she's new to it— her videos are just not engaging enough now to her audience because they're all the same age as her and she just hasn't grown up.

As you said, content creation doesn't last forever and her business is a great way to keep income coming in once her niche begins to fade but at the same time, if she's just going to bring out yet another bloody planner and barely promote it, it's hardly going to grow with it as it is. She honestly just needs to stop living in this fantasy land where she'll get what she wants and actually begin to work hard at something other than academia because those rose-tinted glasses are certainly slipping now she's in Oxford and it's clearly not what she thought it'd be.

Just watched her last video and oh boy... First of all how dare she use such a nice music ( the one at the start, Barefoot adventure by Adriel Fair) so low and right after it's her extremely loud usual one? Did she tries her own video before posting it? The difference of volume is awful.

And I wondered if she understood the idea of having a "routine". Like, I don't mean to be an example but when I have what I call a routine, it's not something I change that often. Like, if you change constantly it's not a routine, it's a seasonal schedule.

Some thoughts on Blakeney -

I haven't watched the video but if the only other bed was a sofa bed, maybe it was less comfy so they decided to share the nicer bed

I agree that she's not actively seeking the limelight, but feel that she grudgingly puts up with being plastered all over Ruby's social media in exchange for friendship/gifted outings

I honestly get the vibe that Blakeney is more of a mum figure to Ruby, but maybe that's just me being naive 😂

Also, Ruby if you're reading this, PLEASE get a haircut lol

Ruby honestly looks like a child in comparison to the other girls in the photo. I am not sure if it is the unfortunate pose that she is in and the state of her hair and clothes, as she looks so unkept. It looks as if she is the younger sister who has been allowed to tag along with her older sister and her friends.

I get the vibe that Ruby is obsessed with Blakney is because she is effective, a 'cooler' version of herself with how they have similar interests but Blakney has accomplished more and is less sheltered. I get the vibe of the trope of a nerdy or unpopular person getting befriended by a popular person when it comes to Ruby's behavior towards Blakney. I do wonder in a way, Ruby has been inspired by this from her children's and young adult books that she reads. It wouldn't surprise me if Ruby would reenact bits from books into her own friendships as she does the identities of characters.

I can imagine that Blakney 'looks after' Ruby socially as well. I don't know if this is me projecting but I do get the vibe based on my friendships as a ND person. I had a few friends, usually one main friend, who would be the main person I interacted with even in a friend group and helped me navigate the social interactions.
Ruby does have other friends that come up in content, but she does make it clear that Blakney is her favourite person in comparison and that she values her friendship than others. It must be strange for her other friends hearing Ruby gush about one friend and then not say anything or barely mention you. I feel as if I would be upset by that, but that's just me.

Hello, hello, I'm back from going to my home country for a week. Got very very ill, still am, but at least I no longer feel like fainting lol

I was very curious what Rumbster had left for me, and there's just one video that is about as charming and nice as a dead worm. And I just watched that video of her unboxing that book, and am I hallucinating from my fever, or did she really say: "you know it's a nice book when it's packaged this well". Like, what the fuck does that mean?? and she says it so seriously too, nodding along solemnly 🤦‍♀️

I think the days of the Notion sponsorships are over for her. The company is doing too well now (people I know in real life + myself use it often) so I feel as if they are reducing the begging with influencers to a minimum. Like others above me said though I believe she was waiting for a sponsor for this video, but I also believe that she needed to get something out and shat this out from the bowels of her hard drive.

We can only speculate about her Masters since she's said almost nothing about the content of her degree or her actual experience studying at Oxford, but...

She mentioned that it took 5 tries to get her tutor just to come up with an idea for an essay question that was acceptable for her first essay there. That's just the basic thesis question for what would've been her easiest essay there, so it doesn't bode well for her managing to come up with an actual essay of any merit or quality for that essay or the rest.

She's mentioned absolutely nothing about her grades. Ruby's always been hyperfixated on her grades and has always seemed and acted practically entitled to the highest one. Despite her occasional 'GRADES AREN'T AVVERYTHING' lip service disclaimers, if she's ever got a high grade or top marks before (even high-but-not-the-highest grades that she's "disappointed" by), she'll always rush to announce it and VARRY HOMBLY brag about it in her next video, even if it's completely unrelated to the video. At Oxford she's said nothing at all, suggesting that her grades have been dismal.

She posted vague Insta stories about how she was having bad mental health days right around grade feedback time of her first term. Possibly unrelated, but the timing is noteworthy and seems to support the above.

She's taken an unprecedented hiatus from content creation during the essay period of her second term and long after. The only videos she's posted during this time have been a rushed vlog titled 'the inevitable stress of essay season' in which she mentioned that she'd been feeling highly anxious about filming during this period (but refused to say why), and then this latest mental breakdown of a video. If she did badly on the first round of essays, there was more pressure to miraculously do better on her second, harder batch of essays to pull her grades up, which doesn't seem likely, and this new video doesn't exactly suggest she knocked it out of the park.

She's looked absolutely miserable practically every moment at her "dream school". In libraries, on campus, while studying, she's looked increasingly morose. No surprise that she's looked hopelessly miserable every time she's had to film herself in a library filled with other, much smarter students doing far more work. The only time she's looked remotely happy there is doing small social things completely unrelated to studying with the one friend she's made there.

Independent thought has never been her strong suit and she's always floundered massively when expected to come up with her own ideas and do her own work. It's why she hit a wall with her dissertation. At Exeter she was almost completely reliant on grade inflation, her dodgy system of academic shortcuts and her major rhymes-with-Cakeknee crutch to get her through while doing as little of her own work as she could. At Oxford, the bar will be massively higher, with infinitely more expectation from tutors for a student to showcase independent, original thought in essays. Ruby's not built for that, so it's not at all surprising that she's hitting bottom academically now she can't skip the required reading, recycle the ideas of other scholars and copy Blakeney's homework.

All signs point to her wading into Oxford expecting an easy ride where she'd slap together a few essays from ChatGPT extracts, recycled lecture handouts from AXATAR and copy-and-pasted academic quotes, then spend all her time twirling round libraries trying to rub everyone's noses in the fact that she's an AWKSFWUD STEEYOODONT who's JANUINELY living out her wildest dark macadamia Hogwarts daydreams. Reality seems to have hit her instantly and won't stop swinging.
Exactly my thoughts! Something to add- this video lacks the usual OTT Wikipedia-like intellectualizing in her other videos ("DYD YYU KNYOW BLAH BLAH BLAH"). Instead, the script of this one literally reads like a horror/ children's book kinda thing. Not what you expect from an Oxford master's student, AT ALL. I swear if my peers or profs came across this video I would be mortified and could never show my face again.

I'm honestly surprised how she's made it this far- the bulk of her intelligence seems to be rote-memorized trivia facts and plagiarized ideas. As we can see from her video quality, she doesn't change or improve on her skills. Doesn't take feedback, doesn't try creative new things. Obv this translates to her academic life as well- she's been using the same "study methods" as GCSE/ A levels and can't even fathom the fact that she's not good at some things and should take feedback in in order to improve.

Can I just say that I'm grateful for your comment because I'm a Marfa too with a Ruby sister and the more I see how incompetent and unlikeable Ruby is the more jealous I am of her for getting so much attention and love when she isn't trying to better herself or care about others in the least.

I think I might be the only one who watches these videos just to live vicariously through her and to see what it would be like if I wasn't ignored all the time (although I wouldn't prefer it if I kept making a fool of myself-or maybe I wouldn't care, if I had any attention from my family. I don't know how that feels haha)

I'll show myself out
I’m usually not a me-railer but I do think these comparisons are valid to how Ruby sees herself- my Ruby sister seriously can’t cope that she’s not universally adored and seen as the best outside our family. I reckon that’s affected Ruby. As a Marfa I know there will be lots of hush hush discussions about look at your grades Ruby, you’re so much better than Marfa… being a perfect child and forgetting about her life experiences to the contrary comforts Ruby
---
The Marfas to the Rubys aren’t usually even bad kids anyway but the families tell them they’re sooo bad compared to the Ruby so they just can’t be bothered, which shows as a rebellion
---
If you’re the type to watch Ruby Granger Wallis I doubt you’re a bad kid beyond redemption, that’s what I mean 🤭 🤗

Yeah I don’t think we need to worry about Martha 😂 Also her little car tour was the most personable and interesting bit in the whole video.

Not Roobee claiming she was being told in comments that letters weren’t real literature when she shared her dissertation topic in undergrad 😂 I don’t think I saw a single comment back then that wasn’t fawning, or at the most providing their own insights and ideas. But nooooo, everyone was telling her her topic was shit, essentially bullying her into silence this time around 😂 It’s pretty telling that she circles back to all the reasons why she hasn’t shared it over and over again in the video. She knows that she’s cobbled together 10k words’ worth of random quotes about garrls who wrote things on paper in the 17th century, fear of growing up, and fucking marigolds.
Oh 'letters' - that makes more sense. I thought she was banging on about Lewis Carroll's 'lattice'. But it being Ruby I sort of went with it. Makes as much sense as studying marigolds for a dissertation about childhood.

I see we’re trying to make ourselves feel better by buying unnecessarily expensive editions of books we’ll never read 🙃

View attachment 2885885

the cheapest I could find it was over 60 € but sure, boo hoo about how £15 is sOoOoOo expensive for a book 🙄

edit: I’m by no means judging anyone for splurging on books, I’ve done my fair share, but Roobee 1) will grift anything and everything to avoid spending any of her own money and 2) never fails to mention how expensive something is when it suits her just to seem relatable, and this just shows how she can easily spend money whenever she feels like it.
If it's been on her wish list for the last 9 months then why has she only just got it now and what does this book have to do with her degree now as I swear the only thing she will be working on this term is her dissertation and therefore it would have been more appropriate to buy it during 1st or 2nd term when she was working on her other modules. By the way I have just been looking at the Amazon reviews for this book and it sounds like from the comments she has been ripped off as a number of people weren't happy with it. Here are some of the comments:
Very poor edition, as you can see Christopher Marlowe's name isn't even spelt correctly on the cover. It's extremely thin, no accompanying footnotes or introduction/background to the text. If, for example you're a student and all you're looking for is the text to highlight and scribble on then this is will be a good buy, other than that it's not going to make a great addition to your bookshelf.

Do not buy this. It is poorly type set, and appears to be a copy and paste from Gutenberg. Very expensive for what it is. Better to spend an extra pound and get a proper copy. It's a rip off.

Print quality is not good at all

What's Marfa/Martha up to these days whilst Rubes is skipping in the garden pretending to LOVE Oxford?
She's the one filming it.

Ruby hired her to help with content. Mainly that's involved taking photos in Ruby's bedroom back home while she's at Oxford and posting low effort crap on the PONKERPOD TIFTEAAAA Instagram that Ruby could've easily done herself in 5 minutes if she weren't terminally lazy.

While Ruby's been back home, Martha's occasionally been the camera operator for vlogs. I imagine she's also been tasked with helping edit.

I was a bit taken aback by the post-it charade to organise her chapters. Surely, by this stage in her writing career she uses some writer's software like Scrivener to do this stuff?
I felt like she had mentioned using Scrivener before, and I was right - she claimed in 2020 she’d been using it for a year and a half. She mentions Pinterest as her inspiration for fucking around with the post-its, so once again, she’s not writing so much as she’s wasting her time on performative busywork for the sake of an ASSTHATIK.

(Of course this 2020 post was sponsored by Scrivener, so it may just as easily have been her first and only time using it…)
