Yeah.... I mean.... You can do better, even if you were not a lit student.
Can somebody hold my cup? I need to hit my head against the wall

That's pretty reductive for a book about a totalitarian regime which brainwashes its citizens to the point that even history and the past can be completely rewritten without anybody noticing or caring.1984 = promotes "lack of education".

Ruby often says that one of her favourite books is Cat’s Eye and now I’m trying to imagine her narrating her day in an Atwood style. Nope ... that just doesn’t work!Oh please, don't! "And there she sat, in the freezing cold, holding on to the wisdom in her hands, the only book her beloved father left behind for her -"the little princess", her fragile limbs shaking, from the cold or the enduring hunger, she couldn't tell."
That’s it! After reading those screenshots I’m about to charge up my Kindle and finally buy it.
This thread omg. I feel like we were actually quite nice about her book after reading this
My student broke self is in a constant debate of whether that cringetertainment is worth 2.99 pounds..That’s it! After reading those screenshots I’m about to charge up my Kindle and finally buy it.
Wish me luck!
The comments Ruby is a ‘Victorian ghost’ and the book is ‘like the ramblings of an Alan Partridge/Jacob Rees-Mogg love child, but somehow worse?’

This is the most embarrassing thing I have ever read in my life. And I used to read and write fanfiction when I was in middle school.

i feel this way about...all of studytube. their critical thinking and analysis faculties are just so lacking, but who am i to judge. they make hella bank on productivity porn.Ruby strikes me as one of those people who have zero creative thinking skills. She's good at parroting stuff she has prepared extensively but when put on the spot or in stressful, unpredictable situations she just shuts down. The fact that she is unable to produce original thoughts on something is apparent when it comes to her book reviews.
I'd love something like The Wilds with a bunch of studytubers on a deserted island.Someone on Twitter commented that they want a Hunger Games style dystopia, only with StudyTubers who are forced together on an island without their schedules
Can you imagineSomeone on Twitter commented that they want a Hunger Games style dystopia, only with StudyTubers who are forced together on an island without their schedules
oh i wasnt saying i dont count them as it haha. its just i keep seeing arguments about it online. i dont do audiobooks, but not everyone can 'read'. i was mainly wondering if ruby listens to audio books and if she counts them as reading. i think i worded my question weirdly lol. my badYes! I find it a bit elitist to say that audiobooks don't count tbh - not saying you think like this, it's just an attitude I've seen online. It may not be an activity of "reading" but you have invested time and effort into listening to the entire book, one way or another. (And I find that this argument is lowkey ableist and disregards visually impaired people and their love for (audio) books. We all want stories, one way or another.)
Not accusing you of thinking like this My argument was against the opinions I have seen online as well as, I've said in my reply already.oh i wasnt saying i dont count them as it haha. its just i keep seeing arguments about it online. i dont do audiobooks, but not everyone can 'read'. i was mainly wondering if ruby listens to audio books and if she counts them as reading. i think i worded my question weirdly lol. my bad
