Maybe I’m just overly critical/BEC, but wouldn’t you pick up a new or… less torn-up and overall filthy copy of a book you wanted to promote as ”book of the month”? Had I ever had an inclination to read Three Men in a Boat, this would have obliterated it. Why is she so gross and nasty

Yeah, it looks like the cheap decorative ones you can find on amazon and which can be nice in your room but for a real travel... Totally unpractical and I doubt it's really resistant.

To be fair though, seeing her putting it face down like that breaks my heart a bit. And there are definitely copies in better condition than this one out there. She's going for the "I'm a vintage book collector" vibe, but as per usual, not quite getting there.

When I was like 8 or 9 and just starting to read real books I had the bad habit of always putting them face down, and as a result all of my books from that time are missing a few pages, because they fell out from doing that.
