Seriously this is one of the things a dissertation is most useful for imo - figuring out that a masters might not be a good idea for you. (I didn't enjoy the process at all and that helped me decide not to continue studying).

I think the main problem that we can all agree on and others have pointed out: this isn't a Literature dissertation.

The muse point was interesting, but again: not really a Literature dissertation (not the way she was using it, at any rate).

She HAS to be penalised for that, surely? Like even IF her writing was actually coherent etc, the fact that she has written a history come sociology essay for her final Literature degree?

From the information we have been able to find out about her dissertations via her videos it definitely doesn't seem to be a Literature dissertation, like sure the letters are important and can be classed as literature but she's literally submerging her thesis in pointless secondary material and not focusing in on the literature, but as we have seen before, this is the way Ruby works. She can't form an opinion of her own and is incapable of analysing a text without the help of other resources. Deciding to choose Carroll's letters as the main focus sure is a baffling choice and I really don't know how her tutors didn't warn her against this choice, unless they did and she decided to go ahead with anyway because she thinks she's always right. I've only very recently handed in my own Literature dissertation and everyone on my course was advised to write about two or three primary texts and pick a broad enough topic to write about. Ruby hasn't done this and this is why her Literature dissertation appears to be more of a history/sociology mishmash. Like I'm sure Carroll's letters are important but how much can you really analyse without going off on a tangent like Ruby has evidently done?? It's an absolute mess, she has no argument and is completely reliant on secondary material. If she could construct an opinion/argument of her own a dissertation exploring how two or three texts explore the theme of Victorian Girlhood would have been great, but alas she can't and now she's writing a mess of a dissertation which appears to have a very small focus on Literature.

After a several-day long worst-in-my-life-migraine attack, I am back! Last week I decided to order her notebook named 'The Notebook' (how original) just to see if it's actually as bad as everyone says. -I know this is a gossip site but my opinion is completely my own-. The book itself isn't bad. It's put together nicely, the idea is nice and the colour is nice. However, the pages themselves are awful. You can't write in anything but a ballpoint pen and even that's hard to do. I bought it to not only test it for fun but I was hoping I could use it as a 'diary' when I go on holiday later this year. I wanted to use all my nice gel pens and washitape to make it look like those pretty and aesthetic videos you see on Youtube of people journaling. My gel pens appear all streaky like they're on their last drop of ink and the washitape just doesn't stick very well. Considering I paid £9 + £4 shipping for UK mainland, I am not happy and see why others are unhappy too.

This is really just a pet peeve but it also bothers me that she tries to make it seem like a universal experience by saying "you can get distracted by the blue sky" and "you don't look at all the other beautiful things" instead of "I." Like it's ok to just share your own opinion. Personally I have the complete opposite experience, when it's overcast I feel like it's depressing and I don't appreciate my surroundings as much as when it's nice and sunny. She doesn't need to justify her musings about nature by making it seem like something everyone experiences

She sounded so dumb in these stories. As if she was a wanna be motivational coach / speaker but it was so cringy and dumb. Like whatever she says it doesn't make sense - it sounds exactly as when you don't really have anything to say but talk just for the sake of it and in these circumstances she should've stayed shut.

I don't recall the coffee bean incident, but I do remember when she made Blakeney swap flavoured teas because Ruby's contained two coffee beans and she thought it would ruin her sleep.

It's weird though because tea also contains caffeine, albeit a lower quantity than most coffees.

Yes that's what I'm thinking of! I assume she must not be totally against caffeine because she does drink breakfast tea and Earl Grey etc rather than purely herbal teas.

I think the fringe wasn't bad at all, it suited her way more than her recent hairstyle. Correctly styled and with slightly shorter hair, it could be a good hairstyle for her ( except if she keep pleating strands of hair for her ponytail just to look "smart". It doesn't look smart, it looks childish. ). Tbh she looked more mature 4 years ago than now, for her hairstyle and clothing, even her attitude ( I remember going out with friends more often, being interested in other subjects than kids literature ).

Honestly, I wonder where Ruby's supervisor fits into all of this. What Ruby's doing - or rather, failing to do - is to write a cultural history of the reception of Lewis Carroll's letter writing, which would be a terrific topic for a PhD thesis and beyond but surely nothing for a BA thesis. Did her supervisor comment on the sheer scale of Ruby's thesis at all and did Ruby ignore them? Or does Ruby think she's beyond supervision and went for a trainwreck of a dissertation anyway because she's the self-proclaimed Wunderkind of literary studies?

*By the way, it annoys me to no end the way Ruby proclaims she's writing a dissertation. You're an undergrad writing a thesis for your Bachelor's degree. No need to get all huffy and puffy about it!

Less good points ( 'cause it's too rare things like that happen, let's not be that negative): the shoes doesn't fit ( at least in my eye) with the dress. And the dress doesn't really look "good" on her, but maybe it's because she doesn't seem comfortable in it, maybe it's her silhouette ? Idk but something looks awkward here. The clutch and the necklace are a bit too old fashioned in a bad way (especially with shoes like that), and the shawl confirm the grandma touch ( honestly mine had something like that on the back of her armchairs )
Let's not even try to speak about the tailcoat, please.

I've never seen anyone struggle with a dissertation like this. They specifically design a word count to limit waffling - they know how many words is required, roughly. If she's writing 2000 words over the word count then what is she learning? Definitely not creating succinct essays. I can't believe how much of a fraud this girl is!

Wow, she spent a year working on it, still finished it like two days before it was due, and was still adding stuff and moving paragraphs around like last week?
That's just plain bad planning, I wrote mine from start to finish in six months. And I can bet it was still more focused and less confusing than hers (not that it's hard)

This is NOT a brag (Don't do it) but I wrote mine in 2 weeks. the fact she took a year is insane. Did she have an extension too? Because they were due ages ago
