'Completing your references' isn't studying Rubella, it's doing something you should have been doing as you were going along

Omg she sounds SO damn smug and pleased with herself about finishing her dissertation in that video, it's quite something. "I have spent so much time on this", "I wanted to make the most of these last few days" (making it sound like she's gonna die or sth, so unnecessarily dramatic), "it is so satisfying to be able to tick something so big off my todo list", "but of course you didn't just work on it one day, you've been working so hard on it for such a long time", "the dissertation has been one year in the making" (!)...

Maybe I'm just in a foul mood today, but it just makes me sick how self-congratulatory she is here and how much she pats herself on the back for the grand achievement for spending one year working on an undergrad diss that's like what, 10k words? And all that while not having a thing in the world to worry about, not having to work a job to make rent (no, chewing Bird and Blend tea on camera once a week does not count as a regular job in my mind, I'm sorry). Not having to worry about money at all, in fact. Not having to worry about sick parents, or having to care for anyone else, not having to do her own laundry most likely, not volunteering or being politically active or doing literally anything else besides sitting at her desk and writing out draft after draft after draft of her dissertation.

I mean, good for her if she's so damn proud of the grand achievement of spending her life that way, I guess. But something about the way she goes on and on about how great she is and how she was working syo syo hard on perfecting every little detail of that stupid dissertation just makes me irrationally angry.
Wow, she spent a year working on it, still finished it like two days before it was due, and was still adding stuff and moving paragraphs around like last week?
That's just plain bad planning, I wrote mine from start to finish in six months. And I can bet it was still more focused and less confusing than hers (not that it's hard)

Why do I get the feeling she’ll run out of time to get the thing finished, bound and handed in? Back when I had to do mine, there was a wait-time on the binding because one little copy shop in the campus was trying to do everyone’s binding all at once. I think I did mine a few days before and there were queues even then. Surely with all those revisions Ruby is doing she’ll leave no time to actually get the thing bound, unless it’s a digital submission?
She's probably got digital submission, most unis changed to that during covid and haven't changed back. Can't be certain about Exeter, but I know it's true for the majority of unis I've worked with since the pandemic.

She’s making an awful lot of “edits” considering it’s her 7th draft and at this stage you would think it would be very minor changes or just checking references etc (which would be a huge task for Ruby given 90% of her essay will be from other sources!). The red shawl is all for effect. She wears a thin jumper/sweater - she could wear layers like most people, but that wouldn’t fit with the frail Victorian persona she is so desperate to be (note to Ruby: people wore many layers in the Victorian era!). And in all the sped up footage, she looked like she was chewing all the time. What a waste of 4mins that was (stopped when she got on her tea crap). What is she going to do post degree on YT?

Omg truee :ROFLMAO: I mean who just casually keeps a whole static camera in their kitchen 🤦‍♀️

It's annoying though cause I was really really looking forward to stealing some charity money. But what can you do heh

Makes me think of the smile the Grinch gives as he decides to steal Christmas. The look Ruby gives when she thinks of how many outfits she can twirl about in once she steals the charity money, or the gleeful and slightly deranged look she gives the police when they ask her where she's hidden the bodies in her murder spots- based off Gossip Guy's last commentary. Not sure which one I like more.

There is a story with Ruby drinking/chewing more gifted tea and I've had a realisation about her 'chewing.' In wine tasting when they try a wine they 'chew' it and swirl it around the mouth to get more flavour supposedly, I don't know if she is trying to do that when she drinks or it is a weird Ruby-ism.
Ruby's clearly found a method that no wine taster has ever stumbled upon, though: Push all liquid to the front of your mouth and chew it - do not let any of it touch the rest of your tongue. This method of activating her keenly-attuned tea enthusiast senses led her to deduce that BARD 'n' BLAND's blueberry and peach tea tastes like blueberry and smells like peach. It's also "PARPLE".

Ruby loves another gifted product. Shocker!

Roobee has made my favourite kind of post, which is namely that kind in which there can be found atrocious grammar and random shots of buildings, not to mention an old pic of her just to fuck with the timeline. Stop it, Rumbaba, Oxford already said they don’t want you.

And Ruby has said on several occasions that she has an overwhelming dislike of books with teen relationships, teen romance and genuine teen drama, or pretty much any YA fiction that isn't just gifted wealthy children getting bullied for being too smart, to the point where she'll just skim over it all (not that she actually reads much else, either).

Now she's claiming she'll rush to read a book featuring all of the above, after supposedly watching and loving the TV show, despite never usually watching TV shows unless paid to pretend to?

Edit: I mean, it's a short read. It has pictures and everything. Ruby knew she was going to the premiere and this self-proclaimed bookworm couldn't even bother reading any of it prior to the screening, especially since the author was there to speak? She couldn't look more like a transparent fake if she tried.
Ffs she will have her coloring pencils out thinking it's a coloring in book

I think the main problem that we can all agree on and others have pointed out: this isn't a Literature dissertation.

The muse point was interesting, but again: not really a Literature dissertation (not the way she was using it, at any rate).

She HAS to be penalised for that, surely? Like even IF her writing was actually coherent etc, the fact that she has written a history come sociology essay for her final Literature degree?
This is what’s confusing me. I’ll admit that my academic background is not literature at all and also, trying to be fair to Ruby, we’ve only seen snippets of what she’s doing but I’m really struggling to see how you could write about Carroll’s letters in the way that Ruby appears to be doing and call that a dissertation for an English Literature degree. She seems to be focusing on this idea of letters as gifts but Jesus H. Christ on a bike, Carroll seems to me to be a very problematic person to take that approach with. I struggle to believe that if that is the angle she’s taking, she isn’t going to have to at least mention the issues there.

It’s almost as if she’s chosen this topic to justify her own likes and behaviours without thinking very deeply at all ‘I like writing letters, I think that letters are a gift and that’s what I’ll write my dissertation about. Oh and Lewis Carroll liked writing to young people and sharing his writing as a gift and I like writing for younger people too, so I’ll make him the focus of my dissertation!’

Is that…. Ruby Granger Fanfiction 😱
Is it Ruby Granger fanfiction or did they just create a OC sister for Hermione and call her Ruby?
From what little I've read here this character is characterized as a bit dumb and boy-crazy. If this Ruby Granger is meant to be our Ruby Granger, this must be a troll because I can't see a Ruby fangirl writing her like this

Just going back to her first mini video from a couple days ago, why in the heck is she even thinking that hard about “raising your mark by five points” in an entirely essay based subject 🤦🏽‍♀️

Maybe this is just me, but there’s just so much less pressure on your self when writing essays if you just think about the ten mark bands because that’s what the marking schemes are written in and everyone should be doing the basics of 1) idea 2) structure 3) highlighting your argument vs critics 4) grammar, punctuation etc to get a “good” mark and then you build on feedback from each essay - yes of course some conversations were worded as “this is losing you marks” or “you could gain some marks by doing this” but they were predominantly focused on specifically the “quality of the essay” or the “strength of the argument” to get students into the next band (from 2:2 to 2:1 or from 2:1 to first), things you can’t really quantify in points like Ruby seems fixated on doing - I never met anyone doing English who thought in specific numbers of marks especially in relation to an essay they were in the process of writing

Also interesting that at the end of that video she started mentioning her specific number of subscribers for the first time in ages at the same time as Jack mentioned at the end of his last video that he’s nearly reaching a million subscribers, could be coincidence of course just found it interesting

I can’t believe that Ruby and Jack Edwards got invited to a screening that Alice Oseman said was for LGBTQ+ Influencers. So proud of them! (Jk)
It's okay, Sixteenth made Eve Cornwell attend so there was one token queer person in the group of Studytuber duds, even though she's pivoted to ripped-off legal content and a book and a Netflix series aren't in any way relevant to her content.

She was in her planning for deadline season video a couple of weeks ago I believe, filming a video in the kitchen. So seems like they're both fucking around at home filming pointless youtube videos for the foreseeable future
Oh to have the privilege of being young, rich, and vacuous...

It's not hard to see why she's constantly going well over the word count if she's including a shoddily written high school book report as the intro to every essay. It took her an entire page to say practically nothing.
This is exactly what I was thinking! For a longer essay or dissertation, fair enough. But didn't she say before that this essay was 2/2.5k or something? I wouldn't want to be wasting precious words on over a page of introduction, let alone titles for each section which add to the word count. Get your main points across and get straight into the analysis instead of this pointless time-wasting waffle.
