She looks nice and the dress is very her but in an age-appropriate but I can't get past how fragile she looks. She's not healthy and good styling can't cover that up. :(

None of the events they attend make sense on any level, and it never seems like anyone involved gave any consideration to who the influencers were, if their content/brand suits the product or if their audiences match whatever's being promoted.

I'm guessing it's a numbers game for the PR people. They see a follower count and can go back to the client to say "I got 600,000-1 million eyes on this from each influencer!" when that's not the case and certainly won't translate to people actually checking out the thing being advertised.

Sixteenth don't give a shit what's suitable for their talents' brands, they just want money and more ad deals. And from Ruby, Jack and Jade's perspective, they do not give a shit about brand identity or integrity, and if there's money or a chance to mingle with celebs on offer, they will advertise literally anything without question.

Like, the Downton thing, I guess I could understand if they were hosting a trailer, or attending a screening. It's still not a great fit for any of their brands, aside from possibly maybe kind-of Ruby, who assumes it's a Victorian TV show because she thinks all of history pre-1930 was the Victorian era, but it's a broad enough advertisement that they might get some engagement out of it.

But the event was focused entirely on the costume designer of the show. Like, why the fuck would these three be a suitable fit for that? They aren't history buffs. They aren't fashion vloggers. Fashion victims, maybe.
I’m guessing they all got a plus-one and brought their parents because they’re more likely to be interested in the film. To be fair, of the three of them Ruby is the one with the most interest in ‘history’ but I can think of loads more people who would be more suitable. If it was a costume thing then Bernadette Banner’s the obvious one, she’s London-based and far more of an expert on historical costume than Ruby, Jack or Jade. The recent Netflix thing Ruby somehow got invited to just screams that Sixteenth have managed to bag a contract with some fairly legit PR agency and are just throwing their ‘talent’ at anything to see if any of them stick.

To be fair, English literature as a field of study has undergone/is undergoing a rethink of what constitutes "the literary" and letters are definitely fair game. A lot of work on the Pastons, for example, comes from literary studies, or the edited collection Letter-Writing Among Poets (2015). More concerning imo is that she doesn't really have a clear argument about what Carroll's letter-writing practices say about him as an author, or about Victorian epistolary culture.

Sorry for the question out of the blue but why is her dad being called "daddy bones" ? I'd love to know the reference/reason - it's really funny 😂
Believe it or not, Bones is Ruby's real surname! 'Mother Granger' is named because that's the name she uses on Instagram.

I really need her to use this year off to go do therapy. I know we're not entitled to knowing that kind of private information, but she obviously has some undiagnosed and untreated mental issues. She said she did therapy when she was younger but it seems like she just gave up and that was that?
If she came clean about faking her image and shared her struggles with people openly and honestly, it would have a much greater impact than any productivity video she ever did.
If i remember correctly she used to claim she had something called 'clinical perfectionism' when she was a teenager. She also had an exemption from handwriting exams due to a medical problem, she claimed in a livestream once back then that she took an exam and the paper was covered in blood and coudnt be corrected because the way she writes and holds a pencil makes her hand bleed. So she definitely has some disorder.. Maybe OCD?

Around that time she went to a therapist (while she was in A levels I think) because she was afraid to be in the house alone and afraid of growing up. I guess her parents decided to send her to therapy because they knew she would have to move out for uni. Other than that I think she mentioned going to therapy a year or two ago for a 12 week stint or something? I wouldnt be surprised if shes still in therapy now but just keeping it private.

Why do I get the feeling she’ll run out of time to get the thing finished, bound and handed in? Back when I had to do mine, there was a wait-time on the binding because one little copy shop in the campus was trying to do everyone’s binding all at once. I think I did mine a few days before and there were queues even then. Surely with all those revisions Ruby is doing she’ll leave no time to actually get the thing bound, unless it’s a digital submission?

What was she doing at a Netflix premiere? That's unexpected. I agree that she looks really good in that photo, but her style is so different from what she normally wears I wouldn't be surprised if someone else chose it for her.

And for the giveaway section, she claims the giveaway box is full of her favourites, but then mentions that she hasn't even tried one of her "favourites" from "BAHNBLAND". She cranked up the speed like 500x for this bit, as if nobody would notice if she sped past it as fast as possible.

"And thAn this teaaa which is one of my favourites, AND THANN this teaa which is also one of my favourites, AND THANN this teAaa WHICHIHAVEN'TACTUALLYTRIED--"

What a fucking mess.

oh look

lol the bar just gets lower and lower for her content, doesn’t it 😂 I’m not going to watch 30 minutes of Roobster squinting in direct sunlight while someone mows the lawn and listens to music in the background.

surely not even Ruby would be stupid enough to do this??
I realize I’ve done this before, but it bears repeating: yes. Yes she would. No matter what it is, no matter how stupid/inane/selfish/redundant, she’s definitely capable of it.

Also, one point I had to consider when picking University is the fact that you literally aren't allowed to work during timetime at Oxford/Cambridge. They literally won't let you. Which is the biggest pile of classist bullshit I ever heard. Of course Roobee in her Victorian-era manor housecomplete with mummified flies would never think about anyone other than her and her privileged upbringing lol. I want to see a video from her picking apart just how privileged she is and pointing out every way she's had a head start in life compared to other, way less privileged people
Yeah, that was another thing that put me off! The rule about not being able to work.

Someone I know goes to Exeter and they say Ruby is kind of a joke on campus, back when she was around she'd always be vlogging and annoying people with her loud voice, and kinda looked down her nose at everyone who wasn't in her minute circle of equally unappealing and bland 'friends'.

(I also have tea on Jack Edwards but he at least seemed to have fun at university... If you know what I mean...)
I don't know if that makes me feel sorry for Ruby or not. (Uh oh, I'm veering into sympathy for Ruby territory, send help lol.) I can definitely see how the constant vlogging might get on people's nerves. Does she have a loud voice? She never seems that loud in her videos, but imagining her yelling HALLOO IT'S ROOOBEE around campus is too funny.

Ooo I want to know about Jack Edwards. :ROFLMAO:

Do you guys think her followers are young?

I always assumed that most of them are at university age and watch her content because they can somewhat identify with the university lifestyle.

I know she had younger followers before but I think it was during her Hermione-impression time and they grew up with her and should be in their 20s too.

I can't really imagine anyone under 17/18-ish finding her content relatable or interesting. There are lots of high school vloggers as well.

The Hermione-stuff has also since been deleted (most of it) so I don't think she attracts younger people who watch her old stuff a lot.
Judging from her comment section it seems most of her viewers are middle school to high school aged students, like 12 to 17?
Honestly I think she mostly skews that demographic of nerdy tween girls who are not like other girls. I can't see uni students enjoying her content. Her lifestyle might look appealing to a younger person who likes that sort of thing (books, vintage stuff etc), but a 20 to 25 year old would immediately notice how absurd and cringy most of the things she does are

Wow I was looking at that wondering which thing looked least appetizing out of the diet crisps, the sad bowl of cress, the basket of uncooked asparagus or the single bottle of wine between 4 people… then I clicked to the next story and I think the winner has to be the plate of toast garnished with whole unchopped cloves of garlic! Who tf eats like this pls 😭

This is why us french always picture the british being the worst cooks ever XD Everything looks bland and sad on this picture, even the chairs.

I'm a bit late but at the end of the last thread someone said her penpal reminded them of Blakeney and I thought exactly the same when I saw the picture. I know the age difference isn't that big, but at 18 it's still easy to idolise someone who is only 2-3 years older, especially when that person is "famous" on the internet. My first thought was that she found herself a post-uni Blakeney replacement she can maybe mold a little more to her liking than the original.

She looks like a deranged aunt at someone’s wedding
Ascot vibes in that right-hand pic. 😅

Google search results for Ruby Granger:

I'm hoping they mean 'related' as in connected to, & are not genuinely asking if Hermione Granger - fictional character - has real-life relatives.

Dear Google Stranger, there is an incredibly niche series of YT videos just for you! *Points to Ruby* And what an odd thing to ask.
