Looks like she deleted her grimacing Insta post of her trying to convince people to buy online theatre tickets.

not to defend her, cause like English is her native language after all, but wow English pronunciation/spelling doesn't make any sense. I've just learned that even though 'brooch' is pronounced /broach/ it's still spelled as 'brooch'..
I know, I’ll admit it was a bit of a BEC moment on my part 😂 But she really doesn’t seem to be able to go a day without misspelling or mispronouncing something.

It's the closest to a romantic relationship she ever seems to have got, whether or not there are any of those feelings on either side!
As the only regular 'guest' in Ruby's content, Blakeney is the only person Ruby's fans can ship her with, although I totally get why it's tempting to do so from how Ruby behaves (whether it's true or not).

I hope everyone understands not to take everything said on Tattle that personally! Of course we don't know exactly how Ruby did, but she makes a living off giving study advice and marketing herself with a very particular image in mind. That's far more worthy of scrutiny and criticism than the vast majority of people who get rejected and move on with their lives.
I totally agree that Ruby is a scam lol but people are speculating wildly about what she said and did in her interview (which was about 5 years ago) and it's not helpful when we have plenty of stuff we know she's done to actually criticise her for. It's not about people taking stuff 'too personally', it's about acknowledging that not getting into Oxford doesn't automatically mean you're not good at original thought. We know Ruby is bad at original thought and critical analysis because we've seen the drivel she's come out with over the years, not because she didn't get into Oxford.

She was given a text with the word ”brine” in it, and she completely forgot the meaning of the word and so thought she’d open discussion by asking the interviewer what brine was 😅
TBH I'd prefer that honesty to b*llshitting your way through and pretending you know what you're talking about (which is what she does now😂)

Yes! I remember her talking about her Oxbridge rejection as though she would have been offered a place if only she'd remembered to reference an article she'd read in the New Yorker a few months prior... except that wouldn't be her original thoughts or ideas, just parroting what someone else had talked about, so it wouldn't have helped her case as much as she thinks it would have.
I also think her school really let her down here, was there no one that really understood the interview process to advise her? Or was there and she just didn't listen to them? I've mentioned before that I also went to private school and the teachers were very on it with doing practice interviews for Oxbridge/medicine/vet-bound students so they could prepare for unseen stuff/formal interview questions etc. I would've assumed Ruby's school had the same/similar access to resources but maybe not 🤷‍♀️

Essentially you pick a topic or a research question and you analyze it in a long-ish "essay". Mine was about 60 pages long and comprised 3 chapters, an introduction and a conclusion. The project is supervised by a professor who teaches the subject you've chosen for your topic.
It's probably different in the UK but in Italy you then have to present your thesis to a board of teachers and receive a score which goes towards your final grade, along with your GPA.
The problem in the UK is a lot of unis can give you a tutor that doesn’t know about the subject you’ve picked, I’ve known of some people get tutors that aren’t even the same department never mind interested in that area of research. But I don’t anyone who’s had to present theirs, usually it’s submitted and marked by one main tutor and then another tutor gives it a second look.

I think her political views are very close to my own family’s political views. My mum’s family is very posh, but without a whole lot of money, and they’re very snobbish. They still vote either social liberal or leftist parties. People who vote right wing are definitely looked down upon. The biggest difference between our families is probably the lack of money (My family isn’t poor, just average), so we aren’t completely shut of off normal life. Oh and I’m Dutch, so private schools are not a thing at all here
In Nederland hebben we wel privé onderwijs, maar dat is vrij ongebruikelijk. Meestal zijn dat ook Britse of Amerikaanse scholen of streng religieus onderwijs. :)

I have also been told this when repairing books, never to use sellotap(sp?) but to use magic tape because the adhesive in sellotape is damaging particularly when it aged. This is unrelated really but interesting because I did not know that!
I can confirm this is true. Or was... where I work we are no longer able to buy magic tape as we need to make saving. It's counterproductive as we will end up discarding books sooner, but at least we can say we cut x amount from the stationery budget this year.

hi everyone, long time lurker who has finally made an account

I don't know if this was already mentioned in other threads, but does anyone else remember that one time Roobeetina was reading and raving about a Stephen King's book, both on YouTube and GR, how it was so good and scary as per usual of such a great writer, but didn't realise it wasn't actually from SK but from a wannabe author with a very similar name? I was dumbfounded. How does a self-proclaimed ✨bookworm✨ not notice the glaring differences in quality writing? Scratch that, how did she not notice the name at all? During the time she was reading it, the time she was filming reading it, the time she was editing the video, the time she spoke about it, the time she added it on GR and wrote about it, etc? People had to tell her it wasn't a SK book!

I remember this being the breaking point for me regarding her so called love for books and literature. I was already skeptical of it all, and also annoyed with the constant and because it's me I'm reading a book while I brush my teeth but this was really something else.
Damn is thé video still up? Don’t remember this at all!

I knew I was an adult when I willingly went into Clarks to buy suitable shoes because I knew they were good for my feet

I’m glad I’m not the only one who found that incredibly elitist. I don’t think I could name any shoe brands which I couldn’t buy on the high street
i expect they meant flimsy shoes from primary/ new look etc not excluding Clark’s and proper shoe shops.

Not that it makes much of a difference but I don't think Ruby went to private school. I swear I saw somewhere that she went to an all girls grammar school feel free to correct me though.
She defo went to private school, I’m sure she’s put the name of it out at some point as well

In the UK, only certain subjects have the oral exam element of a dissertation (the viva), and is usually associated with defending a doctoral thesis.
Here it's expected for all levels and all courses, but I actually got to skip that part when I graduated in July. Due to Covid the whole thing was held over Microsoft Teams, and since there were a lot of people graduating in that session they decided to just assess the dissertations without hearing our presentations. We were quite relieved to be honest lol

That would be just like Ruby too, thinking she knows everything already, so why sweat it. Why think in a different way to how she's always done it.

Introverts make great company too but IMO a healthy society has a good mixture of both.
Oh of course! I'm probably more of an introvert but a society that didn't encourage connection or socialising would not be ideal. Personally I don't think that society necessarily does force extroversion more than introversion, at least in the UK plenty of people talk about how they stay in and watch Netflix more often than not so it's more Ruby's lack of perspective again.
