I need to just stop questioning Ruby because she will never make sense - but did anyone else wonder why she just said ‘with some friends’ when I think the whole internet now knows who Blakeney and Molly are?

Did anyone else think it was really sad on Instagram when she said how she didn't used to accompany her parents to the GARDEN CENTRE in termtime because she felt it wasn't productive and therefore should be a holiday treat? Honestly that is so worrying, I feel like someone should have intervened and locked her books away one day a week at least!

I also found this whilst watching that day in the life of an autumn enthusiast when she pretended it was October etc. She kept going on about how stuff like playing with the dogs was one of her favourite things to do in autumn, but surely when you’re at university for the majority of the autumn anything she does that’s specifically home related would be one of her favourite things to do in the summer or in winter when she’s actually home I know she goes back home a lot especially during lockdown but still seems like a weird disconnect to me

Molly and Blakeney both have short hair, I wonder if Ruby would be tempted to copy? Then again it wouldn’t be very Victorian I suppose. I’m actually surprised Ruby doesn’t research and cosplay elaborate updo’s to match the aesthetic she is trying to portray.

A shorter hairstyle would suit Ruby's features, actually. Well, anything would be better than the limp single-length look. I don't think a pixie or short bob would work that well, but a medium-length cut would freshen up her look a lot. Or a medium bob cut to the shoulders with some soft layers. I don't know all the terms for these cuts, heh.

I had Ruby hair (not blonde though) my whole life - no fringe, no layers - until I decided to have it cut short into a textured pixie cut. I haven't gone back to my long hair, though I think about it occasionally. My hair is thick and dense, though, so it was hard to do anything complicated with it. Even a bun required braiding and a lot of bobby pins. Ruby has more styling options, since hers is medium or thin.

Hair is something that I found difficult to change, personally. I got a lot of pressure from my mother to cut my hair, but I am glad I waited until I wanted to do it. When I made the decision, I felt almost 100% certain I would be happy or at least able to live with the result, and that was important to me.

I think she just doesn't have the skills to do anything more complicated than a ponytail. Her attempts at putting her hair up in a simple bun were pretty bad for a 21-year-old and she can't even do a French braid.

I couldn't French braid my hair either There was just so much, and it was heavy. At the end of the day, if I had put it in a ponytail or bun, my head would feel bruised underneath...

I get the feeling Ruby doesn't go to a salon, ever. That alone would help, even if she keeps it long.

Because it will increase in value. I suspect Daddy Bones gave her advice to invest her YT income. Chances are she will never live there.

Tbh I hate it. It only looks semi acceptable from outside. It's not cosy at all and not very functional. The entrance is straight to the living room which has a fucking white carpet. No closet or anything. Super tiny kitchen and giant bedroom compared to that. Idk for her budget I would have expected sth better.

omfg you can tell I'm northern £1600 a month over here would get you a 3 bedroomed dethatched house. If she's still renting it out she won't need to worry about income, weird it would be available though given she's had it for so long unless the lease has ended recently

It actually sold for £325,000 but according to some investment websites, it's lost value since the purchase.

Even if she borrowed £300000, she’d have to have proved she could make the repayments independently of rental income. And if she has a 25 year mortgage, that’s around £1700 a month. How much is she earning from ?!

I can't see her living there after uni. Living in the middle of nowhere, with no driving licence and she doesn't like being alone there? Not to mention presumably she will have/want to find a job of some kind (unless she plans to rehash YT content forever) so a town or city would be better (regardless of what she might think now). Nah, to me it looks like it's purely a financial decision so that later on she can cash out. It's probably on AirBnB or something and she took the video down so you can't identify it.

Yeah Ruby can't handle being alone in an apartment in a busy city. I cannot imagine her permanently living alone in a cottage in the middle of nowhere. I for one would be a bit unsettled ngl. And you cannot live in a place like that without a license and a car. Unless she plans to rely on her parents to chaffeur her around forever.

Old footage. She's been surfing several times before and likely has a bunch of old photos and footage lying around. In her latest photos of her Devon trip, half the photos she looks gaunt and pale, then in the surfing photos she has a fuller face and a tan and is holding a surfboard that belongs to a family friend from Tenby. Not only are they most likely old photos, they're probably not even taken in Devon.

Totally this. Myself and my partner are fully-grown adults, I work full-time in a fairly responsible job (if you can believe that lol) but because my partner is self-employed in the creative industries the hoops we had to jump through to get a mortgage were pretty significant. I really don’t believe that Ruby holds the mortgage on her cottage alone and I’m sceptical that she was able to buy it by putting down the minimum deposit. For a start, it’s really difficult for a first-time buyer to be able to buy a house to let out, because the banks like you to already own a property so that you have something behind you if it all goes tits-up - and if she has a BTL mortgage then the ‘minimum deposit’ was probably quite a bit higher than it would have been for a residential mortgage. Given that her dad works in finance I’m sure he knows all the loopholes (or knows someone who knows …) that would have allowed Ruby to be a landlord at 19 given that her main income is from YouTube, but there is no way that she has done this ‘alone’.

But because her audience is made up of young teens who are not aware of any of this she was able to lie to their faces to make herself look better, like she always does

They had the Italian and English side by side and there were lots of interesting remarks in the margins about the translation, biblical references, allusions to other texts, interpretations, grammar, mythology, the lot. That person must have really studied that text in some depth. I'd love to know how they ended up in that shop. Oh and they smell soooo good!

Hi! I haven't posted here before but I must say I couldn't believe that The Secret History was on her TBR shelf? Has she mentioned in the past that she hasn't yet finished it? I say this because it's been featured in so much of her youtube content, even dating back to her 'dark academia: everything you need to know' video from November 2020 where she explicitly mentions it...in other videos I remember she would just film short clips of her pretending to read it. I guess when considering her behaviour in general this shouldn't be too surprising, but her reasoning for not finishing it paired with how much she's flaunted that book about is just SO bizarre to me.

But now I'm curious what part she got up to. Maybe it was before all the drinking and drug mentions really kicked off?

I reckon she got up when Bunny was killed, before then it's just kind of snotty people learning Greek at a small uni (Mega Ruby vibes) with a bit of foreshadowing thrown in. After it gets a bit more chaotic and dark and not Ruby's vibe at all

Truman Capoat (to rhyme with gloat). It's somewhere in the first 7 minutes of the video (all I managed to watch without going, "oh for goodness sake" and closing the tab).

I am watching Ruby's bookshelf tour and at the risk of sounding overly critical of her, I found it so interesting how she skimmed really quickly over her copy of Lady Chatterley. As an English student, surely it is pertinent to say how truly revolutionary DH Lawrence's work was in the lives of women in 1920s. Lawrence was one of the first published authors to explore female pleasure, gaze, expectations and to show that women are entitled to break free from convention if they are brave enough to do so. Lawrence also describes nature, our connection to it and the link between the female body and life itself through natural metaphors. If Ruby is brave enough to read it properly and not be scared off by the sex, she'll realise how absolutely vital Lawrence's work is to revealing the internal life of womanhood. The fact that he was a man and able to see us in all our facets and quirks and to write a character as alive and vibrant as Constance Chatterley is a testament to his skill and humanity as a writer.

Spoiler: OT: disagreement about Lawrence also references to sex and the Holocaust

Whilst he was vital for that era, I don't find his characters hold up well in this one. His insistence that penetrative simultaneous orgasms were the only "natural" ones made me cringe.

That said I was never going to view an author who said, "If I had my way, I would build a lethal chamber as big as the Crystal Palace , with a miltary band playing softly , and a Cinematograph working brightly; then I'd go out into the back streets and the main streets and bring them all in, the sick , the halt and the maimed : I would lead them gently , and they would smile me a weary thanks; and the brass band would softly bubble out the Hallelujah Chorus" as one whose work deserves to be feted.

I actually had to pause the video and rewind it to make sure it was from this video. Edit- and yes this video is old from 2018 but it's just really strange to me.

Christ this is ridiculous. Honestly though aside from how utterly clueless Ruby is about the real world, the thing that strikes me is how different she is. Obviously she looks healthier, but hearing how positive and excited she is about moving out and feeling comfortable living on her own is just kinda sad when you look at her behaviour now. She really has regressed quite seriously.

As annoying as she came across in that video, she did actually sound more intelligent and mature than she does now.
