Genuine question, because English isn’t my first language -isn’t “very favourite” like an idiom? I’m pretty sure I’ve heard it elsewhere and if you google it, it does come up in language pages as something that exists/is used. I thought it was a way to emphasise further that you really like something?
yeah, it's one of those things that if you were incredibly pretentious about grammar and syntax wouldn't use, but is still spoken and written in everyday English which is totally fine as you can still derive meaning from the sentence/phrase easily (i wouldn't use 'very favourite' as it just sone awkward to me but i definitely say 'most favourite')! i THINK the correct way to say it is "this is my absolute favourite' (pls don't come for me if it isn't, i have had a long day at work). but to get to the point of my comment, i was just again pulling ruby's leg as she acts like she's an academic connoisseur but makes mistake such as these (which are completely fine to make as they are used in everyday english)!

If Ruby is smart, which she rarely is, she will never move into that cottage. She was an adult when she shared it, talked about it, bragged about it, did a video that showed inside and outside. And it wasn't hard for people to find out the exact address. Without thinking, the woman who is afraid to walk beyond her parent's backyard showed the internet her future home. She has a huge following. Who knows what crazy people are out there watching her every move who, if she moved in there, would show up at her door, stalk her, etc.. Seriously, though, this is a good example of the over-sharing she and so many YouTubers do. They are so full of themselves and desperate for "content" they never think about what they are doing or what parts of their life they should really keep private for a myriad of reasons, safety being first. Hopefully she does read this forum, because she made herself a target and ruined that place for herself. Wise up, Ruby. You are not as smart as you thought, are you? Dimwit decision.
This!! Whenever I watch Ruby's vlogs from the flat she's sharing with Blakeney I feel lowkey worried about them. On multiple ocassions, Ruby has filmed them walk to uni and into the city center, also the garden/outside area of their flat. If someone knows the area well, they might know where they live. I would never, ever do that.

The house is nice, but definitely not what I imagined for a "cottage". It looks like just a brick house on a street somewhere without even a proper garden.

To me, it’s olde worlde child speak. She’s read it in one of her books somewhere and latched onto it. It’s not used by adults, or in modern English.

you shouldn't accuse her of things you don't know to be true, even if you suspect them based on past behaviour. Otherwise there is misinformation about her on a publicly accessible forum.
She may have shown poor time management in previous videos, but she did not show "atrocious time management" at all in this video like gossipguy claimed - you can have your suspicions, she could have done so in the past, but like anyone she is "innocent until proven guilty" or it just becomes unfair or could be lying.
Hi Roobee!

Looks like she might be on a camping trip with her family, so there probably won't be a video this week.

On the camping note: kinda wish she showed a bit more of that on YouTube to balance out the productivity/routine videos.

I guess it's like saying "the very best" or something. "Very" is pretty unnecessary and pointless in this case, but people still sometimes use it to emphasize the adjective. I always think it sounds a bit old fashioned/pretentious to use the word "very" in front of these superlatives, maybe that's why Ruby does it so much 😬

Thank you all so much! It does sound childish, we have similar expressions in Spanish which I guess are common for children to say. Thank you again 🥰 and sorry for the off topic

Lies right off the bat 😂 She needs a small notebook to jot down things quickly, she uses it ”more than you’d think” - footage of her scribbling something down in a brand new notebook we’ve never seen before 😂 She also needs one of her pre-printed to-do lists to do much the same. Whatever happened to keeping everything in Notion?

And, as if she didn’t already recycle enough crap from her other video a week ago, she makes sure to include a sizeable snack stash in her list of essentials 🙄

it’s like when someone asks me to make something my “top priority” at work. Like, you can only have one priority if you think about the word but I’m also pedantic as fu*k.
If everything is a priority only one thing at a time gets done lol

I'm glad that I have learned today that it is good idea to use timers and check the time. However have I coped all my life?! Oh, and remember snacks, hmmm, I've never realised I need food throughout the day to keep going.
This was just an excuse to use old footage again.

So, the first thing you see on Ruby's stationery website is "Get your Academic Essentials now".

Number of "academic essentials" from that video available for sale on her store out of 25: Two.

Honestly, keeping track of the lies, contradictions and misadvice in her videos has me like:

confused_meme.gif

According to Ruby, her academic planner was designed so that it contains everything a student needs. So...why would she (or anyone else) then need separate to-do lists, notebooks, calendars and Notion subscriptions?

Ruby: "I love note flags and use them religiously."

But I thought that app she was shilling in ad posts just yesterday had changed the game because she had no way to mark and annotate texts otherwise? If that's such a revelatory, essential app, why is it not on the list, Ruby? You don't have to answer, we know you only claimed to use it because you were paid to.

Ruby: "Make sure you get a backpack that will fit everything you need, not just an aesthetic one."
Also Ruby: (Visibly struggles to fit her water bottle into her bag because the trendy, aesthetically-pleasing bag she owns several of is far too small for her purposes.)

Ruby: "It is SO important to keep hydrated. You'll definitely notice a difference in your focus if you don't."
Also Ruby: (Makes no mention of eating regular, substantial, nutritious meals. Encourages "just dry snacks". Doesn't eat anything herself. Is constantly having trouble focusing and is often confused and distracted by everything.)

Ruby: "A good, clean desk and study space is essential."
(Cut to Ruby's far-too-small desk area, covered in dirt, dead flies and disgusting globs of melted wax.)

This is a staggeringly stupid list. If you have a computer, access to the internet, a phone, a pen and a notebook, that's everything you need. Buy the reading lists when they're announced, or borrow them from the library.

Stupid apps that require you to solve Dan Brown escape room puzzles to turn off your alarm, or restrict all your apps aren't academic essentials. They're a sign that you need to exercise more willpower and self control if you keep turning off your alarm or getting distracted on the internet and missing important things. This is a Ruby problem. It is not a universal student problem.

Candles are not academic essentials.

Things like food and water are not academic essentials. They're essential to staying alive. You should be consuming them every day regardless of if you're a student or not.

This is just sheer idiocy in video form. I'd wager because that '35 things to do before Back to School 2021' video was her most popular in a long time, she'll churn out a tonne of these numbered list videos full of terrible advice, complete incompetence, recycled B-roll and endless, repetitive padding.

They’re £6 each, like the ribbons.
Apostrophes and punctuation marks were limited edition and have now sold out

what gets me about this is, i have one of these rucksacks myself and they come in a lot bigger sizes than the one she has ! you can fit loads in them. she wastes so much money on these things when she could have just bought a bigger bag?????
