Hope it's not just a fluke.

Worst nights sleep, skin was burning and itchy on my chest, neck and face. Think its menstral/menopause related. Only another 3 weeks (out of 7 week wait) to speak to my GP! This is a follow up phone call to as I said I'd go away and think/research stuff!

I get itchy skin. It's not helped by the fact skin goes dry during peri. I take an anti histamine which helps.

Thanks! Will try this tonight. I was putting frozen peas on myself a 2.00am this morning! Living the dream!

So glad to find this thread.

This week my face has randomly flushed pink and hot. I do not have sensitive skin at all so was really weirded out.

My periods are erratic now, take ages to properly start and finish. Insomnia as well. I’m 44, maybe peri?

almost certainly. I don't get hot flushes but very occasionally it feels like my right cheek has been slapped, bizarrely my left cheek is always fine. Sadly it's not my arse cheek :ROFLMAO:

Thank you! It was so odd, but it’s good to know.

It was so noticeable as well!

I don't know if you have read the whole thread but I really advocate diarising anything out of the norm. Peeing, sense of smell, weight gain (I initially weighed myself everyday and found that my weight went up 5lb overnight around the same time my sense of smell went nuts, a day or 2 later I would be peeing like an elephant and then weight dropped down again) mood (normally dropped around the same time as weight gain) food cravings, itchy skin, insomnia. It won't solve the problem but might help you manage it and your home life, atleast if you know when you are going to be moody you can warn those around you and apologise in advance. Also a word of warning, if you have been happy in your life and suddenly you aren't, it is almost certainly the hormones behind it, not reality so no big decisions like quitting your job, moving away, dumping your partner. They don't call it the change for nothing. I literally ripped my life apart.

Go armed with lots of research ask ask for what you want.

Really good advice

Does anyone know why testosterone isn't prescribed on NHS? It seems like a lot of symptoms could benefit from this too.

It's not licensed yet...as the NHS are slow to get that 52% of the population will go through menopause!

There are a few women on the menopause forum I read that did get it on the NHS but they had to really fight for it. Again, it's probably Postcode lottery, so depends where you live.

Always worth an ask, some GP's are relatively enlightened (Male or Female)

Not sure why you want it but it might be wise to really push that it's for your sex drive. What frustrates me is that there is so little research on hormones that no one is even sure what hormone (or lack of) causes what problems. Testosterone gives men their overall drive not just their sex drive. I've found that whereas I was always ambitious and driven at work, I no longer am. When I purchased my business 10 years ago, there was no doubt in my mind that I woud make a success of it, now I'm considering a new business (a 3 year saga) I'm riddled with selfdoubt and questioning whether I can do it despite going into the same industry I've already been successful in. I don't have hot flushes, apparently Asian women don;t tend to suffer from them either, possibly because their diet consists of Soya, which is similar to Estrogen, yet I was given Estrogen and it tipped me over the edge completely.

I’m so glad a Tattler pointed this thread out to me. I’ve been in early menopause since a hysterectomy at 38. My health situation is really complex (& outing) so it means I have 3 different specialists I have to try and get to agree a treatment plan with each other and my GP and er me too. They all focus on their specific bit which I understand and because there are risks attached to doing anything they all keep saying to “wait and see”. I suspect they think if we wait long enough I’ll see myself through the whole thing. Trouble is ive put weigh back on after losing 9 stone just a couple of years before that op. My sex drive has disappeared and left no forwarding address and while I am disabled yes that didn’t impact my enjoyment of orgasams and I’d quite like them back.

sorry. Didn’t realise I was feeling a bit venty. Honestly though. 52% of the population face this and it still feels like a big surprise for anyone I try and tackle this with!

Are you on HRT as you should be if you've gone through menopause early as it protects your heart and bones?

It affected my sex life too! I could always orgasm easily but then noticed I could no longer get there, it just sort of petered out. VERY frustrating! It's coming back a little bit now but it's still nothing like it used to be.

Nope HRT is one of the most difficult things because of life long conditions and a couple of more recent ones. I don’t envy them weighing up various pros and cons but I’ve pointed out I want quality not quantity and my life expectancy means it’s unlikely I’ll make it to old age so I’d rather we do the best we can now rather than worry about the impact in a future I probably won’t reach. Covid has definitely slowed everything down too. On the plus side the treatments I have for my bones means my density is actually holding steady for now after a real decline following the op. So that made 24 hours of feeling like every bone in my body was broken worth it 😁

Has anyone found anything natural suppliment wise that has helped labido wise?

If you're on Facebook, you can try the Perimenopause Thriving and Surviving group. It's got it's share of weirdos and too many women moaning about their MiLs but there is some great information and help there.

Just looked on there for you (it's worse than I remembered) and Ashwaghanda appears to be popular
