Husbands pissed off at her for even suggesting it. He says if she messages about it again closer to the time, he'll be telling her where to go, he's not like a lot of sons that wouldn't dare say boo to their mums, hell shout at her if needs be, he had to when I first had my son and she had me crying 2 days postpartum
Ugh she sounds absolutely awful! It’s good he’s on your side and isn’t afraid to stand up to her. Ignore her for now and definitely let him handle it if she starts kicking off again ❤

Omg I’m 22+2! Not much in us 🥹 yasss I got some hooded towels tonight from Asda. And some dummies… got one MAM bottle I got for free from Boots on the parenting club. Also started buying nappies with my weekly shop. I feel prepared but also not? 🤷🏽‍♀️

Yeah didn’t wanna start too early! Oo that makes me feel better. Also - you have to have them installed!? Whaaaat!?
No you don’t you can install them yourself no problem but I’m buying mine off a local specialist who will install it for you for free. You only need to install the isofix base if you choose to secure your seat that way. And then the seat clips in and out. But me and my partner are shit at practical stuff so thought may as well get someone else to do it properly 😂

Last working day will be 22/03, will use A/L following week plus Good Friday. Mat leave to officially start on 31/03. Baby due 08/04.
I did similar with my 1st and she was 9 days late but really hoping that’s not the case this time!

Found out baby is still breech at a scan yesterday, I’m 32 weeks. What’s the chances of it turning yet and when is it supposed to be head down by? Sonographer was very vague when I was asking these questions. Will ask my midwife at my next appointment but just wanting to gauge from anyone else

Baby bandit was breach around 28 weeks, my midwife advised me to look at the spinning babies website for exercises you can do to naturally encourage baby to turn - I didn't end up looking as he turned by himself but I've heard people say the exercises worked for them 🙂 I think ideally they want the head down by 36-38 weeks and if not they'll start discussing birth options to accommodate a breach baby, but check what the NHS advice is as I can't remember!

Woo hoo! Congrats

Question for everybody - how many weeks before your due date are you planning to stop work?
I’m planning on finishing at 36 weeks and putting in some A/L before mat leave starts. I want to be off before the busy period at work starts 😂
---
New day, new question 😅
When do you get given the date for your first scan? Is this given to you at your antenatal booking appointment, or will I likely have been told before then? I'll be over 9 weeks at my booking appointment.
It seems really different for people but my
Midwife rang up at my booking appointment and got it booked in (I was 9 at my appointment). My letter took a while but it was around Xmas.

I used holidays to take a month off before due date, and whereas I'm glad I did because I have an active job, I was also bored shitless 😂 I did have a few days out etc but because I ended up overdue I was so fed up!

Hello everyone, I'm new to this thread I just got my positive test yesterday. I am so nervous I'm hoping talking to a message board full of lovely people will help calm me down a bit over the next few months.

I'm 35, this will be my third. I have a 14yo and 10yo and I suffered a late miscarriage in 2018. Been trying again since and it's finally happened.

Obviously I'm very early on (6 weeks ish) but I'm taking one day at a time before I allow myself to get too excited or start thinking forward incase this one doesn't make it.

Should I wait until I'm closer to 12 weeks before I make any appointments with a midwife? I'll need to see my doctor soon because I had a heart attack 6 months ago and I'm on a lot of medication.

Also, I have an indoor cat. Should I avoid changing the litter for the foreseeable?
Congratulations!
In my area you have to self refer between 6-8 weeks so they can book the midwife booking in appointment and subsequently your 12 week scan. I had to do the self referral via a form on the hospital's website in the maternity section then call to book after.

Definitely stop touching the cat litter and if you absolutely have to, gloves and a mask.

Please can someone help!! I'm been gifted some money to buy some baby bits and have been recommended the love to dream swaddles. Which size/tog etc should I go for for average UK temps?

Baby is due May 5th. I've already got a love to dream lite in the sale incase of a heatwave etc which I think is 1 tog. I'm so confused on layers, rooms temps lol my brain is defo slowing down now I'm 6 months 😂

Also got a few sleeping bags for when baby girl is a bit bigger, I believe they are 2.5 tog
Check out their guide Temperature & Size Guides – Love to Dream™ NZ
However, I wouldn't go mad or maybe try vinted. My little one hated to be swaddled and didn't get on at all with the love to dream.
They weren't a huge fan of sleeping bags either even though we still used the and intend to use them again but I'd say, don't buy too much of anything and see how they get on first.

With my first the only food the hospital provided was toast/cereal and cold sandwiches, I was kept in for a full day and night so had to get my partner to bring food in for me!

the hospital I’m with now provide food but it’s not great 😅 luckily they have a subway and a costa inside the building so I can eat there if needs be.

Started buying bits for my hospital bag today, really wish I kept the list I had with my first baby as I seem to have forgotten what I need 😂

I’m the same as this. They’ll take more blood to check your baby’s blood type. If they have a positive blood type you’ll need the anti d injections. The NHS website has good info about it 😊
Just to note not every trust does this. I only found out my babies blood type when she was born. The only blood tests I had was at my booking to determine if I was R Neg, and then another pre anti d to see if I had any anti d at all. You don’t HAVE to have it. And if you know you’re definitely never going to have children again you could take the chance and decline. I don’t plan to have any more children but thought it would be best to just do it.
also it is actually a transfusion as it is blood product. Which can be a factor in people choosing to have it or not.

Delighted for all of ye in your first trimester those days seem so far away from me..
I'm now at the stage of raspberry leave tea and I bought dates today, beginning to get a bit nervous now
Im at this stage too and oddly enough I’m quite enjoying the raspberry leaf tea! Don’t know how I’ll manage to eat 6 dates a day though 😅

My first was estimated to be over 8lbs,she came out at 6lbs 😂

this one is estimated to be 10lbs at birth if I go full term! Think I’m just wary of pricking myself and the blood weirdly enough
Try to use a different finger each time, but not your thumbs (if I remember correctly) x

I had a couple of the changing mats with my first and the split on the seams very quickly each time.

I had a mamas and papas changing mat that I got in the sales and it was amazing because the seams were edged and bound. We used that one downstairs and the Aldi one upstairs.
We ended up getting another mamas and papas one after we'd gone though a couple of Aldi ones. M&P one was expensive we would have saved money in the end if we just got two of those in the first place.
Thank you, I’ll give it a swerve all together then.

Little trigger warning for below so I’ve hidden it as it relates to loss.

I had to dip out this thread as I suddenly lost my baby at 10 weeks and the time has come to try again. This was my first pregnancy and I’m trying my best to not obsess or get too upset about it all, and I just wondered if anyone else had a miscarriage and then went on to have another pregnancy/ baby. I’m looking for nice positive stories and they’re hard to come by even though I know they must be all around! I had a missed miscarriage and made the mistake of trawling through Reddit as it does seem some women have repeat ones. Thank you 🩷
join the ttc thread lovely, lots of people there in the same boat who will support you xx

Thanks guys! I literally don't have any pram shops in close proximity to me, I think the closest is over an hour and a half away so I might have to make a trip out to test some out :)

Of course I choose an evening where the department is busy. When I tried calling there was no answer after about an hour of trying straight no breaks. I assumed it was busy but instead of worrying all night over it I decided to come into the hospital and of course the receptionist makes me feel bad about coming in. I understand its busy I will wait I just want reassurance, I'm not here for the craic like 😑
same happened to me! they asked if i called i was like yeah i tried, nobody answered! good on you for getting checked anyway, much better to have a once over than worry for days

Currently 35 weeks and got woken up in the middle of the night, felt like the baby had turned breech. Was super painful and uncomfortable. Can the baby turn like that at this point? Baby has felt like it's back head down now, it's so weird!

Any ladies in third trimester doing perineal massage? I’m planning to start today 😬 after a warm bath haha.
Just wondering how frequently I should be doing it ?
I never did, but I did also read somewhere that overdoing it can actually increase your chances of tearing???🤪🤪 and that alone just confused my brain so I didn’t bother hahaha
