I had to take it towards the end of my pregnancy but didn’t feel ill from it, you poor thing! Could it also be the fact you have low iron that’s making you feel like this?
With my first I had it towards the end too but I’m only 14+5 and been prescribed them, whenever I take them I get a funny taste in my mouth and feel dead nauseous ☹
---
Yep! I was fine when I took it with juice. Literally only juice, anything else and I felt horrendous. I used to take it after food which I don’t think was recommended but it wrecked havoc on my stomach :(
Thank you! I’ll try it with juice. I’ve resorted to taking them right before bed so i dont have to deal with how bad they make me feel but have noticed i’ve been waking up through the night feeling rubbish since I’ve been having them

It’s so weird, for me I only had to have them with a mouthful of pure orange juice and I was absolutely fine. Nothing else worked- Ribena, squash, just juice. Think you’re not meant to have caffeine after either but after the first trimester I ignored it and always had my morning coffee 🫠 but everyone is different so maybe that’s impacting it too?

Could be! Their just overall horrible tablets I think!

I had an elective section on medical advice following a late diagnosis of GD and an estimated large baby. He wasn’t actually that big but he was stuck in my pelvis and they had to use forceps, so it would have been an emergency section if I’d tried a natural birth. I LOVED my section it was lovely and chilled and my recovery went really smoothly. Just make sure you don’t overdo it and keep on top of your painkillers.

Is anyone on or did anyone take ferrous sulphate during the pregnancies? I only have to take 1 tablet a day and I swear as soon as I take it I feel absolutely awful. I’m really low on iron and they make me feel even worse 😅
I took spatone last time I was pregnant. They said my iron was the very bottom end of normal but not low enough to put me on anything so I bought spatone myself and it did help. I heard the liquid version is less like to make you constipated 🙈

I was on ferrous sulphate last year for low iron and I didn't really notice it make a difference either way. At my last test my iron was low but I've not been on the tablets for a while so I'm expecting that to flag up on my first lot of blood test this week.

If you take it with fresh orange juice it helps it to be absorbed and avoid dairy around the time you take it. Hopefully that might help you but you can get ferrous sulphate in drops so it might be worth asking the midwife about that if you really can't stomach the tablets.

God I’ve totally hit a wall today. 25 weeks and the exhaustion just broke me. I’m normally fine getting the tube to work a couple of times a week, but today I just feel like death warmed up, and I wanted to cry and have a tantrum I felt so tired. So annoyed with having to fight for a tube seat, especially with one bloke who was using a seat for his food bag and scarf. So annoyed with pointless meetings. Annoyed with TFL delays. Boobs are huge and killing me. Everything and everybody is annoying. Woe is me!!

Thank you for this! I’ll mention it to my midwife at my 16 week appointment. And I’ll get some orange juice (i hate orange juice) but needs be 🤣

I have my gestational diabetes test at the end of the week and I've forgotten what the midwife said to do for prep 🙈 Am I right in thinking it's no food after midnight and then clear liquids only before drinking the orange goo?

Mine was no food for 12 hours before and then yeah, just sips of water. Take a snack for after! Also good luck with orange, mine was raspberry and was actually not terrible. Orange sounds less favourable

Yeah no food after 10pm mine was for a 9:20am appointment. Just water in the morning.

I've had lemon and raspberry before.. both really tasty 😅🤔

I'm currently sat watching a documentary about holy relics so that demonstrates how productive I'm feeling right now 😂 There's literally nothing that desperately needs doing as far as prep goes though so I'm just leaning into it hahaha.
I mean if it tells you what holy relic gets your baby out on time let us know so I can get it and selotape it to my belly 🤣🤣 I have the prayer for expectant mothers in my hospital bag from my auntie blessed by the bishop 🤣🤣🤣

I liked the orange one! Should have put the drink in the fridge and it would have been nicer. It used to be lucozade back in the day the nurse told me before that would have been nice only that they have reformulated and now don't have enough sugar

Would've loved a Lucozade! It's the consistency that made me feel nauseous. Like drinking coffee syrups. 🤢

I was fully dilated, pushed for 2 hours then had an emergency c section. I had a birth debrief and none of this was mentioned- they said it’s likely I would have to have an emergency section if I tried for a VBAC purely because statistically it’s more likely, but there was no reason (subject to scans if I have another pregnancy) I couldn’t try for a VBAV. Most women are 1/2cm dilated apparently for their seconds early on, my mum was 1cm dilated at 36 weeks with my younger sister.

It’s weird they described it to you as trauma, they actually said to me my body knew what it was doing, it’s just baba wasn’t having any of it. Could you ask for a birth debrief from last time if you’ve not already had one?
Thanks for your reply! I did actually have a birth debrief (via zoom) as I gave birth during the first lockdown and had quite an emotionally traumatic time! They told me I had the caesarean due to “failure to progress” (even though I reached 10cm I pushed for two hours- I just wasn’t physically able to get her out and she became quite distressed!) but never mentioned any future risks

I’ve looked on my notes and I think maybe I’ve been referred because I have more than one risk factor. I also have low bmi (I’m a very naturally small human!) and some heart problems. So maybe they are just being extra cautious?

I did!! Never knew it was rare, or that it could cause issues next time so that’s good to know 😅 however, the surgeon the following day did advise I have a repeat c section next time for other reasons. I had a birth debrief with a midwife a few months after and they never mentioned it either. I also pushed for 2 hours before getting there so I guess it would make sense there could be damage. If you don’t mind, updates after your preterm clinic appt would be helpful. I wonder if it’s something that differs depending on your trust?
Yes happy to give you updates! it’s something I had no idea would be an issue so it came as quite a surprise to me!

this is some info regarding statistics surrounding it if you are interested x

Mini rant but I don't have anyone else to rant to. My husband is the best and I love him to pieces but be keeps telling me about such and such baby who is in hospital and very poorly... I'm like do you need to be telling me this as its causing me aniexty and making me very upset. And I know in reality it probably isn't as bad as it probably is as his source loves to embellish a story and it's never as bad as what she makes it out to be. I'm 29 weeks pregnant and maybe it's selfish of me but I don't want to be hearing about sick babies and all these viruses as it stresses me out.

Then I find out he has discussed with his sister that we probably don't fancy many visitors when baby is young and I'm like why did you bleeping say it to her as she will go back to thr rest of them now and they probably will have smart comments about it... And to be honest with this rage that I have I'll probably freak out if anyone says anything to me..i just want him to keep our choices to ourself and don't be sharing with anyone else. Similar to how I choose to feed and everything. I literally don't want to be sharing anything as I know how judgy they can be and I don't want to hear any of it as none of them have bothered to even check in on me. And before you think it's just with his family it's with my own too, I'm sharing very very limited stuff or being vague as I don't need to hear it because everyone has a bleeping opinion.

Anyway sorry for thr long message probably doesn't make sense. Just needed to type it out prob delete later.

Also wk 29 I'm feeling very very tired, heavy and cranky. I want this baby out of me 😂😂😂 but at the same time it can cook for a bit longer as it's safe inside my belly lol

Hope you’re feeling better after talking to him. Can totally relate to this bit though. Mr R can’t stop telling everyone every single detail we discuss. He’s told everyone our name choice already (only found out the gender at the weekend), told everyone I’m asking for a C-section and why, told everyone feeding preferences, discusses my medication (HG) and any symptoms with every man and his dog, told everyone everything we’re planning to do for baby/babies room etc. It’s like he can’t keep anything to himself. I get it’s that he’s excited but sometimes I even hesitate to tell him things because I know within an hour his entire family will know along with his best mate and half of our colleagues 😅

Only 21 days until my c section, anxiety is kicking in. Not so much about the operation or how to care for a newborn. More about recovery and how I'm going to cope with three kids 🙃😞

Can I ask when you were given your date?? I’m 34 weeks, was told they’ll more than likely bring me in at 37 and that was ages ago. Anytime I’ve asked since they don’t give me a straight answer
