I requested one but ended up in an “emergency” section though there was nothing urgent about it. Everyone told me that the wound was very different because they have time to do it, and therefore the healing process is different. I did three doses of the heavy painkillers, and then continued on paracetamol and ibruprofen. It still hurts, but I imagine it’s much easier.
Has anyone on here had an opted c section?
My first labour was horrendous and nearly ended up with emergency c section and I'm really considering just an opted c section for this baby but only thing I'm nervous about is the healing when I'll have a baby and a toddler

My issue with my first was he was back to back with me and he was measuring quite big length wise, from week like 26 they said right it'll be a c section because it looks like it will be difficult and then at my 36 week growth scan when I was supposed to be given my section date the woman who saw me was different from my past appointments and she just went oh you'll be fine back to back is no different to any other labour
27 hour labout, an epidural and then my sons heart rate dropped so needing to get forceps to get him out ASAP (which was nearly a c section but they used forceps because his heart rate was just high enough) and its now made me terrified it would happen again

I had an emergency c section with my first because I was really poorly with covid. Even though it was an emergency it seemed really calm and the healing wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. I’m currently pregnant with my second and thinking of having a section again

Has anyone here ever had an emergency caesarean at full dilation?

I kinda feel really annoyed at my body that I didn’t know this was even a risk factor, but apparently it’s quite a “rare” occurrence to have a caesarean at 10cm and it puts you at risk of preterm birth with subsequent pregnancies, due to potential cervical trauma?

Due to this I’ve been referred to the preterm clinic and told I’m currently at intermediate risk for preterm birth with this pregnancy. I’ve since been researching why this is and have kinda freaked myself out with the statistics. I’m so happy to be pregnant with baby number 2 but I had absolutely no idea this would potentially be a problem ☹
I was fully dilated, pushed for 2 hours then had an emergency c section. I had a birth debrief and none of this was mentioned- they said it’s likely I would have to have an emergency section if I tried for a VBAC purely because statistically it’s more likely, but there was no reason (subject to scans if I have another pregnancy) I couldn’t try for a VBAV. Most women are 1/2cm dilated apparently for their seconds early on, my mum was 1cm dilated at 36 weeks with my younger sister.

It’s weird they described it to you as trauma, they actually said to me my body knew what it was doing, it’s just baba wasn’t having any of it. Could you ask for a birth debrief from last time if you’ve not already had one?

There's so many house related jobs I should be doing but I just cannot motivate myself 🥴 there's washing, hoovering, decluttering the spare room, wrapping Christmas presents. I'm not even sick of being pregnant yet, I just have no energy 😂 aaaaa

This is my first but for various reasons I’ll be requesting one. I’ve done a bit of research over the past few weeks and I’m going to discuss it at my next midwife appt.

@CallMeHollywood how are you doing? Have you guys made it home yet?

I'm only 9 weeks and I'm the same. I forgot how hard the first trimester tiredness hits! Seems worse this time around but I guess that comes with having a 3 year old.

Doesn't help that I've had this awful cold that is going around for weeks now and can't take any cold and flu medicine 😩

The lack of pregnancy safe cold and flu medicine 😭 I was ill and few weeks ago and paracetamol didn't touch the sides. Honey and lemon in hot water & Vicks vapo rub was all I could use 😫 hope you feel better soon!

I’m having a planned section for my second, this coming March. My first was a whopper, and despite pushing for 3 days it eventually led to an unplanned section and I was relieved. Scar is teeny and obviously the size of him would have caused lasting problems with my V, I’m sure. So very happy to have a planned section this time.

I had second degree tears but honestly didn’t feel anything! The stitches were sore for a few days but that was it
Someone I know had a huge baby and she had to have her V basically reconstructed but she has a designer tina now!

I'm currently sat watching a documentary about holy relics so that demonstrates how productive I'm feeling right now 😂 There's literally nothing that desperately needs doing as far as prep goes though so I'm just leaning into it hahaha.

I was at the community midwife this morning. I’m 32+4 today. Was supposed to be there last Tuesday for my 31 week appt but I was in the hospital. Heard her heart beat today again which was very reassuring after a few days without after lots of monitoring in hospital. She also started talking about my birth plan which made it all very real!!

I did!! Never knew it was rare, or that it could cause issues next time so that’s good to know 😅 however, the surgeon the following day did advise I have a repeat c section next time for other reasons. I had a birth debrief with a midwife a few months after and they never mentioned it either. I also pushed for 2 hours before getting there so I guess it would make sense there could be damage. If you don’t mind, updates after your preterm clinic appt would be helpful. I wonder if it’s something that differs depending on your trust?

I’m the same, absolutely miserable. Honey and lemon doesn’t do a thing, Vicks is working when I’m stuffy but I have a cough from hell so not sleeping, so tired but managed to nap on the couch today so that’s a bonus.. keeping the chin up..

Is anyone on or did anyone take ferrous sulphate during the pregnancies? I only have to take 1 tablet a day and I swear as soon as I take it I feel absolutely awful. I’m really low on iron and they make me feel even worse 😅

Thank you! What about when you go out and about?
I pack some cloths to use if I can, you can buy wet bags to keep damp cloths in. Or I just use disposable ones. I’d say in the 6 months we’ve had him we have gone through onky 6 packs of wipes which were all gifted like you said anyway! Their skin dries a lot quicker and no nappy rash issues :)

I had to take it towards the end of my pregnancy but didn’t feel ill from it, you poor thing! Could it also be the fact you have low iron that’s making you feel like this?

Yep! I was fine when I took it with juice. Literally only juice, anything else and I felt horrendous. I used to take it after food which I don’t think was recommended but it wrecked havoc on my stomach :(
