ahh i am so so nervous and im 8+3 today!!! my scan for my 12 isnt until 4 weeks time....need to meditate and have good thoughts !! is it alright to do the NIPT test after my 12 week scan? just wanna make sure
Congratulations! It can vary by area but generally you'll be contacted by phone within 3 working days if anything shows as high risk - otherwise you'll get a letter within 2 or 3 weeks. We were very cautious so didn't tell anyone before the 12 week scan, and waited for the 3 days to pass before we told immediate family, just in case there was an issue - we'd already waited several weeks so a few more days didn't feel like a problemHad my 12 week scan today and all was wellthank god! They put me back 2 days so actually only 11+5 today. The test they do on the back of the neck for Down syndrome was all looking fine. Got bloods done too and believe they combine the 2 to get a final result? Anyone know how long this results takes roughly? (Aware it probably varies for different health boards). What’s the likelyhood of there being an abnormality with the bloods if the measurement was ok? And did you wait to get the full results before sharing your news or share after the scan was ok alone?
Mine said if anything showed up I would get a phone call within 3 days or if all fine I would get a letter, which came a week later! my first baby they said the same then left me a voicemail to call them back.. took days to get a hold of them just for them to say oh we were just ringing to let you know all is wellMine said if anything showed up I would get a phone call within 3 days or if all fine I would get a letter, which came a week later! That’s fair enough, it’s also finding somewhere to store these items so early, too. Some pram stores will hold your peak for you until nearer the time, though, so worth asking.Mine said the same. Basically no news is good news.
All the discussion on stuff to buy is sooo helpful! I'm the first of my friends to have a baby and all the babies in my family are now grumpy teenagers and above lol so I don't really have anyone who's having or just had children to ask.
There's a pram discount shop in south Wales where I live so going to try and visit that I think but will wait for my 20 week scan which should be mid October. I haven't made any purchases after a past miscarriage because I don't want to jinx it![]()
same age gap and i am just going to wait and see so i don’t waste money on one. If we do end up needing one i plan on just getting a cheap doubleI’m sad I don’t have many big purchases to make this time since it’s baby number 2.
My oldest will be 2.5 when baby 2 is born. Does anyone with this kind of age gap recommend a double pram? I have the uppababy vista just now so planning just to get the adapters to turn it into a double as she probably won’t need a pram for too much longer once it’s born so don’t want to go buy an expensive double? Worried it might be quite heavy with the seat unit, the carry cot unit, a baby and a toddler though
amazon did loads of great baby stuff on black friday last yearIm wondering if its also worth waiting to January sales or black Friday sales? Do you get discounts on these kind of things? January would be cutting it fine for me (due 1st March) but also would rather snap a bargain up as the price of all this stuff is crazy.
Not really a January sale thing but keep an eye on places you can get good discounts on things that may be discontinued. I got an Cosatto car seat reduced from 369 to €189. I think purely because the design was discontinued. Older versions of prams might be on sale when newer models are launched. I find local shops better for this than the bigger retailersIm wondering if its also worth waiting to January sales or black Friday sales? Do you get discounts on these kind of things? I’ve got a tour next week - so bizarre.Went to a creche today for my unborn child for when they're 1 and I've to go back to work. Is it normal to have a little cry and have mom guilt before it's even born?I'm sobbing at the thought of having to put the child in there
Yes I had the person showing me around chatting about routines and stuff and it was just a bit overwhelming...I’ve got a tour next week - so bizarre.
You can get a buggy board that attaches to the pram and some even have a seat so they sit down as opposed to standing. Way cheaper than a double. We’re still using the pram most days with our 3 year old but mainly as hubby doesn’t have patience for her dawdling on the morning drop off.I’m sad I don’t have many big purchases to make this time since it’s baby number 2.

I'm in Cork city suburbs so not really sure how helpful I can be. But I find with creches they fill up best to ask the question some of them don't take names until they're born but my attitude is that I put my name on a list at least its there and deposits are refundable. I just don't want to be stuck for childcare as we don't really have the option of family. With schools it's now the year before. On the topic of crèches; any advice from those of you in Ireland?? We haven’t discussed going no back to work yet because we’re having twins, but we’re moving to a small village and he thinks we don’t need to register them for anything yet including primary? I’m from Galway city and I know if we were staying here I’d 100% of registered by nowmy mam seems to be the only one agreeing with me which he LOVES to here 🫣
Oh yes. I might wait and see nearer the time see if I think she’ll be more suited to a double pram or a buggy board. Maybe depends how wild she is at the timeYou can get a buggy board that attaches to the pram and some even have a seat so they sit down as opposed to standing. Way cheaper than a double.
