Baby Finch has made an appearance! Despite a c-section not being my original plan for birth, I really enjoyed my experience and feel like I’m making a good recovery. I would do it all 1000x over, the love is overwhelming 🥰

Just out of my anomaly scan, was fighting with himself the last couple weeks over finding out but he gave in in the last minute… it’s a boy and girl 🥰🩷🩵
Scan took nearly 2 hours, kicking the crap out of each other throughout most of it meaning they kept moving whilst trying to get measurements 🙈 everything as it should be though 🥰

If you're being told by online accounts/antenatal classes that interventions during labour are bad, or a sign that you've done something wrong/not tried hard enough/not followed "the rules", please ignore them!! Preparing for birth is one thing, and it's great to have an awareness of what you would/wouldn't prefer during labour and what interventions/pain relief may be available to you at what stage (I recommend looking into this so you're not taken by surprise on the day), but as many of you have already said, how your labour goes is actually determined by a) what baby decides to get up to and b) what's recommended as the safest option by the medical professionals involved in your care. Some labours happen to be very straightforward and other labours are more complicated, and very little of that will be down to what you're doing so please don't beat yourself up if things don't go how you hoped, or how online accounts told you they should go if you'd just "tried harder". Accepting interventions to get baby here safely and to make things more comfortable for you is never something to be ashamed of, and is no reflection on how hard you've tried or how worthy you are as a mother, so don't let anyone let you feel otherwise ❤

Finished work today so officially on maternity leave now 🎉

I’m wrecked due to insomnia and acid reflux so very glad to have finished work 🤣

I had my booking in appointment on Friday and they did a hospital bag checklist in there.

I got to the end of the list and this is what they say… I couldn’t believe the use of the ‘artificial’ for bottle feeding. Not here to start a breast vs bottle debate but the language chosen is so important so it was disappointing to read that in my pack (was a print out, didn’t have hospital branding on it or anything but still feel irritated about it)

Does anyone else utterly cringe at "Hey mama" culture? I'm trying to read informative blogs and they throw that phrase in there and I just can't continue, I've died from cringe.

Went for my anomaly scan this afternoon. Nervous but thankfully everything looks good and baby has everything they need. And we found out we’re having a little baby GIRL! 💕

Just peeking my head around the door as it’s very early days for me. Got my surprise positive yesterday so still in shock and trying to process it!

Hope you’re all managing to rest in this heat 🥵

Struggling a lot with insomnia at the mo, had quite a few emails from Vinted about orders I’ve made late at night, just checked the “my orders” page - I have 18 bundles of baby and toddler clothes arriving including Christmas stuff I don’t even remember ordering. Jesus fucking Christ 😂

I have a c-section date for the end of next week! I had wanted a natural water birth but things have gotten a bit complicated and I want to avoid induction so I think this is a good choice for me. The consultant had wanted me in a bit earlier but they are super busy due to the strokes. I’m on a cancellation list so could basically get a call at any time like ‘come in now please’ 😬

My sister had her baby today.
a week early. Baby absolutely tiny but very healthy. Turned out after Labour, they found her placenta had started to calcify in the womb, so the baby wasn’t getting all the nutrients they needed and wasn’t growing as much. Thankfully all very well.

Well at 40+4 my waters broke at 8 AM 😊 still not in Labour and it’s 9pm here so I’m in hospital over night for anti biotics and will be induced in the morning if it doesn’t start during the night. My literal whole birth plan out of the window haha. I did get upgraded to the expensive private hospital though as my hospital were full and it became apparent I couldn’t have a water birth anyway (the private don’t do water births for some reason).

Made it to 24 weeks. That’s a huge relief. I now have 13 weeks until mat leave starts and that’s verrrrrry exciting.

Speaking of growth scans I had one today at 34 weeks for my twins. One twin isn’t quite keeping up with the expected growth rate so they’re keeping an eye on it, although we’re talking 19.9% when they like to see at least 20% from the last measurements. I am grateful they’re being cautious though.

With that in mind, I’ve agreed to a c-section on the 10 October, if I haven’t gone into natural labour by then which will make me 37+3.

I can’t believe I’ll have twins in 20 days at the most and be a first time mom! Time seems to have sped up in these last weeks. I was sitting there talking to the consultant and I’m just baffled that I’m going to somehow have 2 babies come out of me, which I’ve made. My brain doesn’t seem to keep up with what’s happening and I’m a bit scared now!

Fatigue has hit me like a ton of bricks this week and my acid reflux has made a return since magically disappearing two weeks ago. I've never felt so tired. I wonder if the weather is affecting me too. Work is draining me mentally and physically, I can't wait to finish now. I'm also feeling overwhelmed about actually having to give birth and look after a baby 🙈 I've wanted a baby for so long and it took a while TTC so I feel guilty now for feeling like I'm unprepared all of a sudden.
