We have a Clio. it's got quite a decent boot. It'll just be for round towns so we'll probablys look for something a bit smaller/not as heavy duty. So excited to start looking. Baby will be due in May so hopefully we can go on some nice long walks before the summer heat.

Everyone said I bought way too many clothes for my first, think I had around 30 newborn/up to one month sleepsuits. Baby used them all in rotation as she fit in them until she was over 2 months old. Couldn’t be bothered to do a wash every other day so it was great having loads!
I’m only 14 weeks but I really need to start thinking about what pram I want. Baby #1 will only be 18 months old when this one arrives so I’ll need a double. Don’t like the look of tandems so I want a side by side. The only side by side I like is the Bugaboo Donkey Duo and it is very pricey
I'm 14 weeks too and need to think about a pram. Baby #1 will be coming up to 3 when our wee one arrives and we've lost/broken so many bits of his travel system we definitely need to get something new. No idea where to start though
Ooh you are me! Except mine will be just over 2 when baby arrives and I was adamant I wanted a side by side specifically the bugaboo. Ended up testing every single side by side double that exists (spoiler - not that many) and then actually went for the iCandy peach as it felt much nicer to push and the seat was much more comfortable for my toddler than the bugaboo! I have to have a gestational diabetes test, anyone else had this? I fainted during my 28 week bloods so I'm a bit nervous.
Mine was ok, worst part was sitting in the waiting room for 2 hours! Take a book and headphones. You are only allowed to sip water while you wait.

Worst thing is we don’t have many pram shops near us, we have a John Lewis (which is where I’m hoping to get baby’s pram from as they offer a payment plan) or a smyths which doesn’t have a great selection. All the decent shops seems to be 100+ miles away and I don’t drive
It's pretty straightforward - they take your bloods when you arrive, then you drink the drink (not bad at all), wait for 2 hours and then they'll take your bloods again before sending you away with some juice and biscuits.
I got my results later that day and, if your readings are high, they'll advise of next steps e.g. diet management, medication and so on.

We popped into John Lewis today just to see some of the bigger purchases in person. Way too early to be making any purchases but I thought I'd be a nice trip and force me to be a bit more positive about things. But wow did the enormity of it all suddenly dawn on me. And the amount of choice is insane. Definitely a lot of research is needed.
We have a big baby shop about an hour away, but I think (?!) John Lewis has a fairly wide range, especially if it’s a big one, so you should get to try a few. We looked at the bugaboo donkey, the mountain buggy duet (with carrycot insert), the in and out jogging buggy (also side by side with option carry cot), and nearly went for the mountain buggy but looked at the iCandy peach duos on a whim and absolutely loved it, even though I definitely didn’t want a tandem. Pros for me was that it can be a single pram if toddler is at nursery, so don’t have to wrestle a double even if I only have one with me (bugaboo can too but it’s slightly wider), it fits easier in our boot than the mountain buggy or in and out, both of which took up most of our boot, which is huge (Volvo), it wasn’t actually much more expensive than the mountain buggy and £400 cheaper than the bugaboo, and the seat for the toddler was more comfortable than the bugaboo, and it had a built in buggy board, oh and it’s so prettyWorst thing is we don’t have many pram shops near us, we have a John Lewis (which is where I’m hoping to get baby’s pram from as they offer a payment plan) or a smyths which doesn’t have a great selection. The mountain buggy and in and out were both good and very practical, were always a double, so no option to make smaller, and took up so much boot space bur if you live rurally would probably be excellent. I didn’t find the bugaboo good enough quality for the price, but people rave about them so probably just me! Ickle bubba also do a side by side but we didn’t try that so can’t offer my review

It’s very daunting isn’t it! Things like bedside cribs imo are much of a muchness, so really budget and looks are your indicator.
Pram, for me the main thing is a) whether you live in a city so need something light and nippy, or live rurally so need something with big sturdy wheels, then the size it folds down for the car, and again price!
Car seats are all tested quite rigorously so they’ll be safe, so depends whether you want something that is stuck in the car (like a Joie 360) or that can go on your pram etc. my first hated her car seat, and so we never used the pram attachment, and got her a Joie 360 when she was 6 months or so, and with this one have gone straight for the same as it’s suitable from birth until about 3/4. Once you know which of those type would suit you better, then you can decide if your budget allows for spin isofix bases or car seats that lie flat etc - they all look lovely and the spin base is useful but it’s not essential.
Nursery furniture - 10/10 recommend John Lewis any day range, it’s affordable, good quality and they have a nice selection. Again it’s really not essential to have wardrobe and chest of drawers but nice if you have the space.
Things like bouncers/rockers/swings, we got a mamaroo and she hated it (£300
) then got a £10 one off fisher price which she adored - more £££ isn’t necessarily better! Then carrier, I found a carrier too big in the early days, and a stretchy wrap from Amazon pre-made into a t Shirt shape really useful and comfy until about 4 months at which point I switched to the carrier.
Sorry that was so long, and possibly unsolicited, but I remember feeling so dazed and daunted and I spent SO much money with my first, aside from a new pram and car seat, I’ve been much more restrained because at the end of the day as long as they have something to travel in, something to wear and something to sleep in, everything else is a bonus depending on your space/finances etc xx

I don’t live anywhere near a John Lewis or a pram world. I did a LOT of research before narrowing it down to 3 prams and went to a local nursery store (who were incredibly knowledgeable) and a mamas and papas. I bought pram and car seat in mamas and papas as they did a promotion at the time of every £1000 you spend you get a £100 gift voucher. The were really efficient in terms of delivery etc but the voucher was fantastic-it meant I could buy all the extra bits (bath, carrier, sheets, feeding pillow, playmat etc) for “free”! Worth checking if they still do this. But I definitely found the smaller independent shops more knowledgeable about the products (especially car seats)Same here! It’s really overwhelming. We did the baby appointment (free with John Lewis card) and the lady was so helpful and explained all the prams and car seats which helped massively!

I'm currently 14+6 and I'm sure I can feel baby moving about. Trouble is I had the weirdest phantom kicks the whole time since having my son (he's nearly 2 and a half) and I don't know if it's those again or new baby is actually moving

The test they do on the back of the neck for Down syndrome was all looking fine. Got bloods done too and believe they combine the 2 to get a final result? Anyone know how long this results takes roughly? (Aware it probably varies for different health boards). What’s the likelyhood of there being an abnormality with the bloods if the measurement was ok? And did you wait to get the full results before sharing your news or share after the scan was ok alone?
