Got my 12 week scan tomorrow afternoon (can’t believe I’ve finally reached that milestone!)

Gotta ask about a potential infection as I’ve had constant lower back ache for a good few days now and it’s getting worse.

when I had my last baby it was just me and one other girl in the ward, and so I got a pretty good handle on the fact she’d been told she was having a girl, and had bought all bright pink, and then when the baby emerged he brought his pesky penis out too 🙊🙊🙊 she spent the whole day on the phone frantically trying to get her mum and partner to buy a new car seat and Moses basket, as apparently they were both bright pink.

I did feel bad for her, but it did provide me some light relief in an otherwise dull stay!

Finally think I'm getting over the sickness and nausea 🙌🙌

Think the cravings have kicked in....today was donuts, I just NEEDED them 😫

Made a batch of gluten free donuts (I'm allergic to wheat so can't just jump to the shops when I feel like I need them) and have eaten 12 (they are only bitesize but still 🙈🙈)

The spaghetti bolognese emoji in the thread title is triggering me. In the early days of my sickness, I craved spaghetti bolognese, made it, then vomited it all out, every individual strand of spaghetti and now the thought of having it again just makes me want to

All these aches and pains will be worth it ladies when we have our little ones here 😍😍
Absolutely. Best feeling in the world 🥰 I’m literally counting down the days until she’s in my arms and the thought of seeing my partner hold his first child, his baby girl for the first time honest to god melts my heart ♥ I could cry now thinking about it. Even at the moment when he just feels her kick in my belly it makes me well up. He’s been an amazing step dad to my son and to watch him become a daddy is the best.

Gonna get some change but then hope they don’t charge me. Don’t want to assume they’re just gonna give me a photo for free in case they don’t and I’ll have nothing lol

Scan at 3. Feeling very nervous.

Screening results back (speedy!)

Down’s syndrome: 1 in 1440
Edwards / Pataus: < 1 in 100,000

Apparently this is not considered ‘at increased risk’ so won’t require further testing.

Indeed, so messy!
So true. If any of you ladies don’t have a dog, I recommend one as part of baby purchases 🤣 they clean up the weaning mess a treat! Sadly our great eating girl died last year, our other dog is much fussier so not sure how we will get on with weaning this time. I may have to tidy it up myself!

Hello ladies, just checking in as I’m 8 weeks tomorrow, second pregnancy but first was five years ago so forgot how delightful the first few weeks are. I’m utterly exhausted and constantly nauseous or stuffing my face. I was working full time last time but on furlough this time which I’m so thankful for as not sure how I could function a whole day right now. Grateful that my son is back at nursery as of this week in the afternoons.

I have my first midwife appointment on Monday but meantime is anyone else suffering from horrendous headaches they can’t shift? I feel like my heads going to explode at times. I get hormonal migraines normally but I think all I can take when pregnant is paracetamol?! I wonder if my iron might be low as I’m really cold and can’t stay awake by afternoon?

At least this time I know it’s all totally worth it for the end prize. I just turned 40 so thought my chance for a second had passed me. Looking forward to hearing all your stories and any tips along the way xx

@Lollipop19 @Easilyannoyed Thanks both, I do rationally know everything you said, I don’t care when baby comes I just want them healthy and happy. It’s just annoying to tell people your due date and there’s no nice comment, they just instantly go to saying something negative. But I guess that’s the trouble with being pregnant, people just comment and don’t think about what they’re saying.
I was the youngest in my year as a late August baby and it’s great - you always get a sunny birthday, usually near a bank holiday, little one gets to spend their birthday doing something fun never at school, sitting exams etc. As an adult I am smug about being the youngest as my friends hit big birthdays a year sooner etc. Ignore the negative nellies, I swear some people just say some of this nonsense for the sake of speaking.

Made me laugh being on the phone to GP receptionist today.
Asked about my 16 week appointment (I was told previously that this would be a phone appointment which was fine with me). I asked if I could book it and was surprised to be told that they are restarting face to face appointments but it was my choice to have a phone appointment or in person.

I asked what the appointment involves and unsurprisingly it involves BP checks, urine check and listening to the heartbeat- all of which I imagine would be quite difficult to achieve if I’m sat in my lounge 3 miles from the midwife. Don’t know why it tickled me but it did

I’m hoping to get some mom friends, I only have a couple of friends and that’s through work and my closest friend from uni lives a couple of hours away. It’d be nice to find similar people to talk to. A problem for me is that I have anxiety and I always feel like a burden socialising with people. I convince myself they probably don’t actually want to hang out and I cancel plans. I’ve lost a lot of friends that way. Need to lose that when I have baby and try and put myself out there a bit.

If this happens to me and I end up with a boy he’s just going to have to deal with pink clothes until he’s 3 months old cause I’m not spending anymore money 😂

God I am so TIRED.
37+3 today.
Still have lots of catching up of work to do, just typing up stuff into my online portfolio but I have no motivation at all.
Don't know how people keep working to 38-40 weeks, all I am doing is rattling around the house each day and going for a walk around the block and I'm shattered.
Fell asleep today on the sofa and missed the Tesco delivery man, didn't wake up when he rang me and thankfully he agreed to come back!! I pulled the pregnant card I am ashamed to say lol

I was wondering as there are a few people due soon or just had babies if someone could start a newborn baby advice thread? I am too new a member to be able to make a thread I think!

Anyone else close to maternity leave and wish they’d finished work sooner?!

First baby, I was very cocky that I’d be able to work up to 40 weeks (I’m working from home so it’s not physically taxing)

due to some pregnancy complications baby will now be coming from 37-39 weeks so I opted to start Mat leave at 37 weeks.

I’m 35 weeks now and I’m knackered! I wish I had finished earlier. It’s the mental stuff more than anything - mentally juggling work and work handover with baby stuff. And I’m shattered. Think it doesn’t help that I’ve mentally already checked out of my work because I’m having a year off woooo.

Anyone else feeling like a zombie?
I'm soooo tired and can't focus at all 😩
Other than that no real issues yet, so I'm counting my blessings!

Also very excited, as I have my first scan in 3 weeks (and a day) ❤ I'm from Belgium and the scan is with my gynaegologist, so I guess it'd be considered a private scan in the UK? I'm not sure.

Told my manager and closest colleagues yesterday (the also knew about my struggles with PCOS and are so supportive), they were all so nice and happy 🥰 I'l be 6 weeks this Thursday, so it's still very early, but it just felt right to keep them in the loop.

I'm 19 weeks tomorrow and been feeling something for the last week or so! Couldn't work out at first if it was just my stomach rumbling but the movements now feel like something rolling around in my stomach 🤯 Happens mostly after I eat and when I'm lying down. Can't wait to feel proper kicks either!

I had my booking appointment this evening so have now been booked in for my blood tests and to see the community midwife next month! She called an hour early and although the letter said it would take an hour and a half, it was only half an hour.

All feels a bit more real now, can’t wait for my scan on Wednesday 🥰
