That’s hrt though, isn’t it?
Not really, it's an extremely low dose of oestrogen cream that only deals with the vaginal tissue, for other symptoms of menopause like sweats etc the cream would give you no benefits. I tried hrt in tablet and patch form and both times I was very unwell and had to come off.

Oestrogen cream is HRT

It's still HRT as you are replacing hormones.

I've just finished my first pack of the mini pill. I started bleeding last weekend, which is around the time I start to expect a period. It was really light at first , but now it's heavy with flooding. I'm not sure if I want to continue taking it, it's not doing what I wanted.

I did see some improvement earlier I the month , I've had no spotting, and less vaginal dryness, and perhaps my mood improvement, but that maybe a placebo.

Would you persevere or give up?

My response to progesterone pill was bleed for three months before I gave up, anaemic and feeling near suicidal. If you feel better mood wise might be worth sticking out but depends if you can put up with maybe bleeding for ages.
ETA my experience was not at perimenopause time for clarity

I would persevere for another month or two.
I went on this as I couldn't cope with heavy and unpredictable periods and after the first one they started getting shorter and lighter. I now haven't had a period this year and my mood is better. Maybe my periods have just stopped anyway, am now thinking of when to stop taking it, which is another issue!

I've tried it years ago too,and I had light pink bleeding with a very light flow, which I would have found manageable.

I might be at the stage where the additional progesterone is what I need , but this bleeding is seems worse than my actual periods. .

I can't cope with this bleeding for long . It's heavier than my natural periods , although up to now less painful.

I had the results of my blood tests today. Dr said all hormone levels and thyroid levels were normal so I’m not in peri 🤔 I’m confused as thought you couldn’t test for it? Or it depended on cycle etc for hormone readings? Or am I wrong. It’s been months now with no period so she said it must be down to my rubbish eating habits. So no HRT for me. My mood and sleep is awful and I was really hoping to try it and see if it helped.

blood tests are completely unreliable in perimenopause because hormones fluctuate day to day. You shouldn’t even need a blood test, I did not have one but got HRT based on age and my response to the HRT questionnaire. Please ask for another doctor you deserve better.

I'm more a lurker on this thread, but wanted to say this is how my symptoms were treated. I have a lovely female doctor, she said no need for blood tests,my symptoms are that of perimenopause,so she prescribed me medication for this (patches). I think it's a case of knowing your own body and pushing for a resolution/ maybe a second opinion.

Same here.

@YoungHollywood I agree with getting the second opinion, which you are entitled to. I believe that the NICE guidelines state that you should be treated on symptoms not blood tests.

I’ve any of you have any itching down below it might be worth checking your loo paper.
My friend’s was so bad she went to see her GP. They told her to try a different brand of loo roll. She did and it stopped completely!
I asked her which brand had caused it and she said Kirkland.
I had been using it for several months and yes, looking back it was around the same time my itching started. I no longer buy it and it’s stopped. I didn’t realise there was a rogue roll still left in the cupboard and when I used it the itching was back.
I’m not sure if it’s just that brand or any others but it might be worth a Google to check yours.
I’m fine with Cushelle.

I got told the same a few months ago, I’ve not had a period since March, when I got bloods done I think I had only missed 2 periods, but all bloods came back normal. I’m not wanting hrt as seem to managing they symptoms ok for now

Thanks all. Will try and get a second opinion but my surgery are obsessed with you only seeing the same dr each time 🙄 might try and find a private place for an initial chat if it’s not stupidly expensive.

You could ask for a referral to a menopause specialist, someone I know has had a referral via the NHS and been prescribed HRT including testosterone

Often the blood tests are to eliminate other things. So perhaps the thyroid one was normal, so there are no concerns about that.
How old are you? It's inevitable that you will be in peri eventually , if not already ( same for everyone).

I’m sorry but that is absolute nonsense for them to act like that. You are entitled so see another GP for a second opinion.

I’ve done it many times, I even sacked off my incompetent midwife once 😂🤦‍♀️

Anyone get random spotting between periods? I finished my last period on 17th June. I then started spotting on 22nd June and spotted every day until it finally stopped yesterday. I’ve been referred for a scan and to a gynaecologist just to check everything is ok, as it isn’t the first time I’ve had this in the last few months. I can’t help but wonder if this is part of perimenopause though. I have other symptoms like extremely dry eyes and poor sleep. I’m 41, but early menopause is in my family.

Yep, irregular bleeding (extended, spotty, light, heavy, absent basically any and all changing) can be a peri symptom. Mine has been prolonged periods for around a year, still pretty regular but also erratic 🙃.

And @YoungHollywood definitely keep trying. Get a symptom checklist via Balance+ app and take it along with everything you experiencing highlighted. My bloods were all normal and having HRT has been amazing, I’m coping now where before I was in doom mode and so exhausted.
