I can't wait for Lou 's book to arrive. I know not everyone is a fan but I really like her.
I'm interested to read it - she's not my fave comedian, but certainly a lot more interesting than a lot of them.

Also, I have been listening to Elis and Issy on Parenting Hell podcast, and really enjoyed them. :) Thanks for the recommendation, tattle peeps!

The PCD ladies group for ladies things is another nice place on the Internet
I did request to join but I think it was missed as lots of people were asking at the same time. Will ask again!

ETA: might wait a bit just to be safe lol 🍉

Darling @Slop n slide. You've put into words more softly, gently and eloquently than I ever could why those posts made me so uncomfortable. Thankspaceyou.

Whilst I hear you on their limited success, I think if you look at the 'big names' (Ed Gamble, Katherine Ryan, Josh, Nish, etc) then I think it's apparent that EJ&JR do well in their respective niches, but they're exactly that: niche. It's one of the reasons they're so appealing to you and me, I suppose!

I've become a #shaggingtruther
One of us! One of us!

Seriously though, interested to hear the opinions of the group on this. I’d understand if they were always close and I know how it goes when your pal’s relationship ends at a similar time 🍉 so you end up spending more time together but this feels like something more? I want the goss! It’s on brand with the latest feature, if nothing else.

I'm sorry to all the massive Lou fans out there (I don't dislike her) but it really should have been Dave in the Tax calendar and not her. I can neither confirm nor deny if I'm going to cut out a picture of his face and pop it on there for the month of July.
surprised prods Matt and Bertie weren’t ahead of Lou on the list tbh!

The fb group? Can you share what's going on at all for those who haven't had a chance to a) listen to the podcast yet and b) who don't have FB. Pretty please with Welsh man's thighs on top!
Seconded. I left because I couldn't deal with them but I still love drama.

Awww, lovely stuff ❤. Welcome along, Swish!

There is just something so incredibly comforting about them, isn’t there. Such a good balance of absolutely effing hilarious and insincere, and compassionate and sweet. I honestly hope the show never ends 😅.

I listened to the episode of the moon under water with the Guardian sports journalist as they kept talking about it being the best one ever (I dip in and out). Have you guys listened? It’s pretty heavy going at times but worth a listen as he essentially lays himself bare in a way that I didn’t see coming.

Countdown until Friday’s pod is on 😄. I’m going on hols on Saturday 🍉 so am gonna download it for the plane 🙌🏼

I did wonder if the excessive mentioning of Lou was initially about getting the listeners on board and warming to her as I have this awful feeling Elis is just so busy with other stuff that something has to give. I hope it wouldn't be this but I dunno I just got a vibe about it. Then came Lou being on and then mentioned a lot I put two and two together to get 22.

Haven't listened to MUW. I like Robin but I think too much of them both is a bit much, if that's ok to say. I used to listen to Elis podcast (distant pod) but I found Mike Bubbins became too much for me and took away the enjoyment of Elis and Steffs anecdotes. If Elis had been to Tenerife, Mike had been to Elevenerife. It was too much.

I just like the boys and Dave all together. Don't mess with a more than broadly fine system.

Awaiting better than a podcast to keep you occupied on a flight. Are you off somewhere nice?

Listened to the latest one and honestly cannot ever remember either of the boys mentioning this coffee bloke before. He's fine but it went on a bit much.

Also like the Dave feature but this week's Dave was a bit much...

Liking the Great Reset but not the best episode. Hoping for a guest-lite ep on Friday
this weeks Dave was bizarre.

can we talk about the FB group here too? one of my main amusements there is (I wont name names) a particular #bekind guy who is overly nice and super nice guy mode on there but is an absolute nasty bellend on other groups im in, I find it funny people feel the need to put on a character depending on the group they see is on brand for certain groups and situations.
There are a few men (yes, always men) in that group who are insufferable. Always looking to pick holes or antagonise. There is one who is particularly bad but who I would have thought I'd have a lot in common with. He is certainly nowhere near as annoying on the Facebook group of a band we both like.

Oh no, he absolutely does sound like he is going through it but I think it’s his honesty about it all that is what I loved. It’s immensely relatable (apart from I don’t stand on stage in front of thousands) but the quest for perfection and never quite being enough/wondering what if.

Christ on a bike the group is wild. Also pretty much everyone already knew, didn’t they?
I agree. There's something quite haunting about the way he writes, that makes it feel more honest and pure than others.

I admire him immensely for being able to be true to himself and to share with people his feelings. He had hidden it for so long, then alluded to it, and now he's able to be his entirely truthful self with such strong support.

While I understand Howl had an awful story behind it, I could honestly listen to him recount it again because he did so in such a way it was relatable and raw (felt the same way about darkness of Robins too).

Also, totally felt like I knew about it but as with everything, never get excited until it comes from the horses mouth!

Just throwing in my tuppenceworth (albeit I do also sway towards being a #shaggingtruther).

One of my closest friends is someone I speak to every day and a lot of my stories start with "oh I was speaking to Dave" or "Dave and I were having a debate about that". Dave is married, his wife is lovely and I'm friends with her too but my friendship is primarily him. Our friendship really grew closer over the past year to the point I've been asked if there was something going on with Dave. There absolutely isn't it's just he's become the person I speak to the most out of all of my friends. If I was speaking to Jill the most I'm sure no-one would be batting an eyelid.

Maaaaaaybe John and Lou are the same. They've been spending more time together recently so a lot of stories are "oh Lou and I" which maybe we haven't noticed before because they were peppered with Robin stories too.

Orrrr maybe my earlier theory that they're talking Lou up so much because she's being lined up to replace Elis because he's so busy with other projects and something has to give. I noticed Matt Lucas has left bake off because he's so busy. I wonder if 5live will he Elis's one to drop? Everything else seems to be his real passion projects, and I wonder if he's kept this one going for so long because of his friendship with John and not wanting to let him down, especially when John wasn't as "in demand" and as mainstream as Elis. And now John has other irons in other fires, maybe he can step back guilt free?
Oh I hope not! I adore Elis. I do like Lou, but it just wouldn't be the same
