Apropos of nothing - I really, really hope TMUW carries on with John sober.

I don’t think it’s changed on balance, particularly given in recent weeks when he’s not even mentioned that he’s sans cans. I can see it being quite a challenge chatting about booze and pubs every week (or more) when you’re not drinking, so would understand if it does get canned ()

I’ll be watching the live show next week and promise to report back to you legends if there’s any juicy goss (particularly on Lou)!

I was a listener to the station from when I was about 13 I think when I was trying to impress the brother of a school mate. Accidentally got into music that way and then eventually Elis and John! All because I fancied someone

Ha! That's loosely how I got into Elis and John too (not the Xfm bit mind). But the fancying someone.

My ex full time BF was LOVED their podcast and kept talking about them, telling me how much I should listen blah blah - it was round about the time they were leaving Xfm, and I listened to a few (really as a way of having something else in common with my ex), and I found I got where he was coming from.

My relationship ended not much later, but my love for Elis and John only grew. I did wonder if it would wane after we broke up but not even remotely Became a retro oner, have seen the lads live, have merch in the house. All because I wanted to impress my ex essentially.

Tonight I came out to my brother as queer. He…came out right back. He’s the first person I’ve ever said it to in person. I just had to tell someone. The tax new year affects us all in different ways, eh! How did you all celebrate?

Then when John arrives and Elis is in his seat...

And the fact he tries to annoy him by playing Scatman John and instead John launches into a lecture about him. “I was reading about him the other day”. Perfect

I mean it was hilarious! However I do think on the basis of John still having 45 shows to do it would have been better doing at the end of Edinburgh for him but equally it's been a good push for him being there! They're good sports.

I have to say though (please don't hate me), that his post did read slightly like something a certain GUSET would write... it was the bit where everyone clapped, I think. It just tickled me

I was sat right by where John was standing in the crowd for Betabet, which was very exciting. It was a really good night overall. Minor annoyance was how cramed the seating was.

Oh that is exciting! Betabet was great, they need to bring it back

Venue was interesting... I got what they were trying to do which was cool but not sure how well it was in practice. I was in a booth which was cool but had restricted viewing at one side so we all squished over. (obvs directed at o2/festival organisers, not E+J)

On the plus side, I knew the status of the Jubilee line at all times.

I agree. I broadly like Ivo separately, he was great supporting Josh on his tour. However I just don't think the John and Ivo show has the same flow.

Much as I like Producer Vin and Travis (xfm producers) I much prefer the dynamic when Dave is the producer so maybe do the XFM ones until he leaves!

One I definitely always recommend from xfm days is Tick Tock Robins. It's hilarious and has some excellent one liners from them all. Oh god every time I recommend it to someone it makes me laugh and I want to listen to it again.

John and talking about his Pret. Oh god. Please listen to it.

Totally agree. The Prêt bit always ends me. Especially when Dave’s blood pressure spike is evident

This is really niche but does anyone remember back in day (either XFM or Radio X) when Elis said there’s a female TV personality/presenter that makes him ‘vibrate with anger’ Does anyone know who it is?

I don't think there's enough support for Lou to be a co presenter (not that it's going to a vote or indeed even happening). Some people unfortunately just don't like her (which is a huge shame). If it was Ivo Graeme then maybe. I'm still a #shaggingtruther

The Ivo Graham episode was SO good. I love Elis but it was a hilarious change up. I don’t mind Lou but would be gutted if Elis left and she replaced him.

I hope they used a good picture of me . ‘ You were just surrounding yourself with people who were getting hammered, like you.’ This really sums up the skewed relationship some have with addictive behaviours. Glad that he has found peace with it.

I wish he would perform outside Dublin though. So many people book Dublin and call it their Irish performance. There are 5 million of us here!!
