The Adam Kay episode was the first TMUW I'd listened to in a while and even though it was still good, it was very different and you could tell it must be tough for John - just the way he swiftly moved on to the next question with really delving deep anymore (understandably)

On a a less sad note, how brilliant in HDYC still. They are both such fantastic interviewers (amazing considering neither has a background in journalism) - just such good listeners and genuinely interested in people

No I’m with you. Matt’s one was different. But as a rule I find gofundme’s make me 😬 Someone posted one in another thread I’m on here 🤣

Legends! I cannot comment any further on the Lou replacing Elis speculation because it will simply make me too sad.

as promised, I was at TMUW live tonight 🍉 and it was excellent. No tea to report except a small snippet that won’t make the pod - there was some chat about Rose (my guess is Mattafaeo)’s birthday last weekend that E&J were both at and “everyone” was taking mushroom oil.

im not young/cool/relevant so didn’t even know mushroom oil was a *thing*
I think it might be Josh Widdecombe's wife. She was 40 last week.

Although I think Ivo dates the other Rose, so not unlikely, but I think it'll be Mrs Josh.

Aww that’s lovely. ❤
She did go out with Acaster - he had a breakdown when they split up (he’s talked about it openly). I’m pretty sure they are mates - they seemed pally on that off menu live episode I mentioned the other day.
If you haven’t watched it, I’d really recommend you do. It’s too funny
That live episode was so so good.

💥HAPPY PODCAST DAY! 💥

Lads, I was at the theatre last week and we saw Ellis and Isy . We played it cool and didn't say hello, but I was SO TEMPED to ask him 'are you on email? You really should be, you know'. We also saw Jenna Coleman, the lady who plays River Song in Doctor Who, Alan Davies (who was with his wife and Ellis and Isy) and a couple of other small-time UK actors who I couldn't quite place. The play was incredible as well - Dancing at Lughnasa - would really recommend if it's accessible to you.

Have great sunny weekends, everyone ☀
I’m about fifteen mins into the pod but I can’t get into it because of you-know-Lou 😆

I’ve said it before on this thread and I’ll say it again. When he says he’s stopping at Pret en route and Dave almost has a conniption 🤣
Dave's exasperated tone, John's "logic" on why popping to Pret is acceptable. Elis just vibing. It's just the bloody best. 😂

Then when John arrives and Elis is in his seat... 😂

I get annoyed when it gets bumped for news, despite never listening live, because I never listen to/watch/read the news to protect my MH (would recommend, it works wonders). I realise this doesn't impact me because we still get the pod, but I think it must be awful for those in similar situs to me who lose their 'light relief'.

Not really sure if this makes sense or not but you'll all be pleased to know that there are already tens of duplicative posts in the FB group getting very angry about it.

In other news, Colin Murray is taking the boys' Friday slot from next year.
I know exactly what you mean and it contributes to the idea that 5Live isn't really the best place for them.

So went to see our boy John at his gig last night and, as expected, what a damn show! So raw, so honest and so bloody funny and he's right, he's looking fiiiiiiiiiine right now. Daaaamn.

No spoilers but a couple of one liners from the show have really stuck with me post show and, just, wow.

Separately, he did mention LS as a friend and I mentioned to my pal at the intermission "think they're shagging, how dare she" haha. Still sure about that!

Indeed, which is why it came as a surprise.
bloody loved seeing that game of potato potato btw. Legends.
I panicked at the end. Not sure if I was too late or too early or, as the one who started, should I have finished. Really gets into your head. But I guess that’s the beauty of it. Maybe we can play it again one day.

Aren't they all with Avalon or something? It always seems to be the exact same set of comedians who do every comedy programme on Dave, etc etc.
Then they get to write their own (rubbish*) sitcom, then they release a (crap**) book... it all gets a bit tedious sometimes. I'm glad that John never quite seems to be as 'successful' as them, because then he'd be indistinguishable from them all.***
*Personal opinion only!
**Ditto

IIRC, John and Elis are with M&C Saatchi, Josh and John Richardson are Off the Kerb and then Avalon still has a huge roster (including their handover pal Adrian). It definitely is the same faces popping up all the time which I find a bit 🙄 Especially as a lot of them are shit *cough* Katherine Ryan *cough*

Not the person I’m thinking of
---

They love to make a SONG and dance about everything!
yes we are defo thinking of the same person. Well done on the clue.

Disclaimer - I’m sure they are really lovely and the stories may all be true and not at all embellished. Thoughts are my own 😂

Sorry for the double post but has anyone listened to the beginning of the pod yet?
When John mentions he regularly stays at a friends in London and she leaves the fridge open whilst she’s cooking!!!! Never been more convinced, even though he calls himself a single man in the same link.
I don't think so - imagine the chaos! My feeling is they are great friends but not romatically attached. I have no evidence to back this up, just what their personas are like...

I listened to a lot of the shame wells last night when I couldn’t sleep. I’ve downloaded this one so I can listen to the opening 20 seconds whenever I want. It’s incredible. I must have listened to it 10 times already.

OMG How do you cope is just so good, isn't it. I love they way they approach it - they are so respectful and non-judgmental. They've had some great guests. I also love the play on words in the title - makes me smile every time. I wonder if there will be a new series soon?

re Tattle: I used to follow JM on Twitter and the Graun but unfollowed when her chaosi became so improbable I actually found them irritating. To my shame, I had made a couple of her recipes (salad bag botulism pesto and soda bread - both awful, would you Adam and Eve it). I had mentioned in passing to a mate that she was a bit sus and I think she dug into her a bit and found the Tattle in lockdown. She mentioned it to me a few times but I dismissed it as a nasty gossip site. One day a few months back was really bored at work so I took a little look... and I've been here ever since! Still don't like the other threads much but the JM one is superb.

How about you guys?

Have you seen The Darkness of Robins? It's really funny! It was on Netflix but I think they've taken it off there now.

I was listening to the show live from the very beginning when they started on Xfm and followed them ever since. I've rang in the show before (complaining about a neighbour who plays bits from musicals at 2am) and my husband has done an Ask John.
