So... I was thinking (and believe me I hope I'm wrong).

The "Great Reset" advert was very John heavy (we've generally said its not a great advert for them, and I'm going to guess they know that too, so why wouldnt they have simply recorded it properly when Elis arrived?).

Is there any way at all that they could be doing with the podcast what they do with This Morning... John as the "main host" but with a revolving door of regular "friend of 9the show" co-hosts? Maybe Elis is around for a set regular contracted amount to keep the PCDs happy?

I thought ages ago that they were lining up Lou to come in as Elis missed a few and they were really pushing her for a bit (I know some of you are fans but for me, not in place of Elis).

Elis obviously has other things he's involved in and it just got me thinking if this Great Reset could be the official way of making changes?

Someone I used to kind of know put up a gofundme because he fell out of a tree and was unable to work for a while. He fell out of the tree because he had some spiritual urge to climb it. I mean, wtf. People donated a few thousand.

Just to clarify… he raised a few thousands, people thankfully didnt donate thousands for a grown man who fell out a tree

I think some people post a lot of ‘woe is me’ in the hopes people will start then a fund page. Feels a little bit predatory but that’s a bit strong.

You get it on Reddit a lot too…. People asking advice on how to make £10 last until the end of the month for food - then loads of people are like, I’ll send you another tenner to make it easier for you.
Probably a similar vibe to people who fake beg in the street.

Agreed! I've not listened to the radio show in a while and so had missed that he had started this journey (or maybe he hadn't mentioned it?)

I think he's only very recently started using the term alcoholic. He'd just alluded to going sober and a health kick but clearly now feels more comfortable with revealing more about it. No doubt it played a role in his break up. He's such a wonderful guy and it's nice to see him on this path to recovery. So many people really do love him and want him to be well.

Oh. Wow. That's not aged well. At least you've gone wholesome with your vibe now. Literally the most unassuming trio going (yes, I'm including Dave because he is part of the fantasy hahaha).

Mine was 5ive and then Blazin Squad (and really not too dissimilar to that Alan Partridge room I'm both proud and ashamed to say haha).

Dave’s photos of him taking Lyla to Citeh was the most wholesome football content ever. Yes I follow him on instagram.

Just throwing in my tuppenceworth (albeit I do also sway towards being a #shaggingtruther).

One of my closest friends is someone I speak to every day and a lot of my stories start with "oh I was speaking to Dave" or "Dave and I were having a debate about that". Dave is married, his wife is lovely and I'm friends with her too but my friendship is primarily him. Our friendship really grew closer over the past year to the point I've been asked if there was something going on with Dave. There absolutely isn't it's just he's become the person I speak to the most out of all of my friends. If I was speaking to Jill the most I'm sure no-one would be batting an eyelid.

Maaaaaaybe John and Lou are the same. They've been spending more time together recently so a lot of stories are "oh Lou and I" which maybe we haven't noticed before because they were peppered with Robin stories too.

Orrrr maybe my earlier theory that they're talking Lou up so much because she's being lined up to replace Elis because he's so busy with other projects and something has to give. I noticed Matt Lucas has left bake off because he's so busy. I wonder if 5live will he Elis's one to drop? Everything else seems to be his real passion projects, and I wonder if he's kept this one going for so long because of his friendship with John and not wanting to let him down, especially when John wasn't as "in demand" and as mainstream as Elis. And now John has other irons in other fires, maybe he can step back guilt free?

I think that is that what @just lurking 99 was getting at (although correct me if I'm typing words into your.... screen?)
And I actually do get that and see where you're coming from.

It's like your work husband/wife type thing - nothing innocent, but you spend most of your day with them and so they're most of your stories.

Hmmmm, that is interesting. I just wish they'd tell us for sure

and I really hope that Elis won't go!! But I'm not going to lie and say that did worry me when I saw Matt Lucas had stepped down..

I know what you mean about go fund me type posts.
The Matt one is so totally different.
A lot of people are facing hard times right now. I see the same faces posting a lot about being broke etc in the main / sub groups and i don’t even use fb very often at all. Maybe because we have similar interests and they seem to be in all th same groups saying the same stuff.
Once one is posted it opens the gates for more. No one is obligated of course it it does change the vibe.
It’s hard because you want to be supportive but then people feel bad they can’t give to all and so get themselves in trouble possibly.

He has what ‘mentionitis’ about her - when you fancy someone or are in the early days of dating them and you manage to find a way of referring to them in all your conversations. It’s like the ‘boop boop de boop’ thing they do in The Inbetweeners. She’s mentioned in most shows now.

I’m actually seeing him three times this year (not a Stan, promise . Just some serendipitous events and timings have made It posible, and I live in London ) so will be on high alert… I wonder if she’ll be at any of the gigs! I’ve never actually seen him live before so am curious as to why it’ll be like. One of the gigs is The Made Up Games so I’ll get to see the whole motley crew

My now husband moved in after about the same length of time, and it was a “when you know you know”. I agree, he seems happier, even just in his chats with Elis he doesn’t seem as snappy as he once did? Hoping for all good things for JR
