These fangirls analysing baby photos to prove Freddie was a) a reborn doll then b) an animated baby robot followed by c) a real baby hired by Management™ and eventually d) real kid who has undergone major facial reconstruction surgery to look like his pretend father...

I find it hard to believe these people move amongst us, pretending to be ordinary human beings. Surely if one's colleague expressed such doubts about the paternity of a boyband member's child, one would raise concerns about said colleague's precarious mental health?

I said this on the celebrity gossip thread but... I LOVED Larry Stylinson when I was about sixteen. I mean I loved 1D too but Larry - I was obsessed. The thing about louis’ baby being fake was what put me off, I felt it was so disrespectful to Louis and such a reach. Also his little boy looks the SPIT of him now so there’s no question haha! The band used to have a build-a-bear mascot, nicknamed Rainbow Bondage Bear - it used to have a twitter account dedicated to it which posted such cryptic messages/countdowns... e.g it’d post a picture of Freddie Mercury, then the next day at a concert the bear would appear wearing a similar style of outfit. this must have been 2016? People including me were INSISTENT that this bear was counting down to the day Larry Stylinson would come out obviously nothing came of it. Laughable now though!
Oh I used to waste hours and hours watching ‘Larry proof’ and reading Larry analysis blogs on tumblr... I was never the type to reach out to the boys or their families and a lot of the theories made me laugh with how tenuous they were... I have honestly never found a ‘hobby’ as fun and as absorbing that was
I still personally believe Harry is bisexual, and that H&L had something but tbh I don’t care enough now to get invested in it. I don’t even know why I was invested at sixteen - I think it was just the drama of it all - forbidden love, like Romeo and Juliet. Didn’t have a life boyfriend of my own to swoon over so redirected it elsewhere

I never truly believed one way or another about Larry but used to read a couple of tumblr blogs out of sheer interest because I found it so mind boggling the reaches people would go to.

I used to like the band in x factor days and for a bit after - even had a 2012 calendar The real fan girls were next level, I'd have loved some sort of psychological study of the batshit fangirls and what was missing from their lives for them to be so obsessive.

I think it's very possible Harry had a crush on Louis at the start - he definitely idolised him a bit because Louis was older. Louis played along with it as that was his personality. No matter what happened, they were clearly best friends for a time and it's sad they drifted apart but that's life.

I've seen enough manipulated video footage to realise #larryisreal only for those with photoshopping and editing skills, because there is no actual proven evidence of Styles and Tomlinson in the same building, let alone the same room, for several years.

And these are men madly in love with each other, and secretly married?

I worry for the mental health of the people that seriously think, after all this time, these men still hold a torch for each other. Maybe it was an infatuation, a teenage reach around or something, but it didn't last for long, that's if it was an actual thing.

Whatever it was, if it really was anything at all, and not the pair of them playing up to the fans, it died a death a long, long time ago.

The build-a-bear, if it wasn't the mastermind of Louis and/or Harry (as many believe), then it was their team, not some random member of the crew. Too much money and effort was put into that.

The batshit fangirls I can understand to a point. Obsessively following a boyband in one's teens is fairly normal behaviour, although the gay shipping is definitely something new. It's the middle-aged Mum Directioners that utterly baffle me. Their obsession with a group of men the same age or younger than their own sons is just bizarre.

Does anyone remember a voice recording of two members of 1D talking to fans on the phone and arranging for them to come to their hotel room? That was right at the start of their career. It might have been fake, of course. I get the impression they were so absolutely micromanaged, they would have had very little freedom or free time. I can't remember who the other man was, but one was definitely the Bradford chav with the ugly knob

I think the most scandalous thing I remember was a video recording of Zayn and Louis smoking weed and discussing buying chicken - which is apparently slang for a kilo of cocaine. I am not into recreational drugs at all, so this could be incorrect. I was surprised there wasn't more outrage from the parents of Directioners, because their main fanbase were young girls.

As long as the girls were over the age of consent, then for many fans, this would be a dream come true, the chance of a shag with the popstar you believed you were in love with. But you're right about the imbalance of power, and the NDA must have happened too because I don't remember ever reading a kiss n tell on any of 1D from fans. Wannabe actresses and models though, there were a few of those claiming to have done the deed with a 1D man.
