It’s dependent on how she’s registered, e.g. in her maiden name? Or, ofcourse, she could be just saying she’s a nurse. Lots of carers call themselves nurses and wear the uniform but aren’t. Yes they do. They study for two years for it and abide by NMC regs. They are band 4 and can do much of what the nurses do.
Why doesn't Angela Rayner have a contract? Mines unlimited mins for £15 a month rather than doing things like expensing a single call for a tenner. She shouldn't pay for work calls but lots of their expenses don't seem a wise use of public money, it's small change but doesn't inspire confidence.
Angela had that whole airpods fiasco, didn't she buy two £250 pairs charged them to the tax payer and then ended up paying it back. She said she used them for work calls, then it turns out she hasn't been seen on zoom with them and that she could pick up free (non premium) headsets at work anyway.

I feel sorry for all those who will be sat in pain in a hospital bed, or deteriorating whilst this political stunt goes on.
What do you expect them to do? The government won't even come to the table to negotiate. The union offered to suspend the last lot of strikes if the government agreed to talk. They rejected the offer. Have you any idea what the NHS is like now? In my area, most hospital referrals have a waiting time of at least a year. A year just to see a specialist! Minimum 12 hour waits in A&E. My friends grandad fell down the stairs last month. By the time the ambulance arrived, 14 hours later, he was dead. This isn't just a winter crisis, this is the NHS, full stop. One of my children has a condition which would require a category 1/2 ambulance response should anything happen. This is a first world country. We should not even be worrying that an ambulance may not arrive until an hour or more after an emergency call is made.
It will only get worse if pay, conditions, retention and recruitment are not improved. Yes, people will most likely die as a result of the strikes. But the government is happy with that because they'll lay the blame, as ever, at the feet of the medical professionals. The other devolved nation governments have managed it, why not ours? The strikes will continue, more people will die because the government is hell bent on painting the nurses out to be the bad guys. The government always has money to throw around - to bail out banks because of their preposterous budget, for their backhanders and cronies, for overseas wars, for furlough, the billions on HS2, but they won't even come to the table and discuss the NHS crisis - something that affects every single person in this country (except them of course, with their private health care).
They want the NHS to fail, and they want the medical professionals to be vilified. They have constantly used the media to whip up animosity amongst the public, and I love that people aren't falling for it this time.
I would say the next election can't come soon enough. Wes Streeting is not the man for the job,but anything is better than the current lot.

Exposure is what they could do. Film the conditions, get Dispatches to do a feature on it for Channel 4, or Panorama. Shame the government. Look at what the exposure of black mould in council houses has done. The man in charge in Wigan was sacked when the press started making a fuss.
Striking will only cause a further backlog to patients. The waiting times will increase.
Rational thought knows that the government is tit. But if I’d lost a family member or friend due to this I don’t think rational thought would come in to it.

Agree the election can't come soon enough but we've heard so much "anything is better" and it just gets worse. Despite the current mess there's still lots of room for stuff to get worse.
Countries like Venezuela and Sri Lanka totally collapsed in recent years thanks to mismanagement.
Life and limb commitment remains the same. Life preserving services should continue through the wider workforce and clinicians. As I’ve said previously cancer patients are already breaching, preventable accidents and deaths along with unsafe staffing levels across all services is happening daily not just on strike days.
NHS Scotland have sent their pay offer for 23/24 to unions. This has been communicated to members today.
Offers for 22/23 were imposed on members already with unions not accepting it but agreeing not to strike until the offer for 23/24 was communicated.
