I'm watching an old vlog of hers where they go skiing and Joe is carrying BOTH sets of skis, so his and niomis. Skis are heavy and awkward to carry, let alone two pairs! She is such a little snowflake

Poor Niomi, it has been such a tiring day unpacking vegan ready meals and having lunch with a hot PT
She leads such a busy life. Us mere mortals who just have jobs and look after family cannot simply know how tiring it is to attend a 7am yoga class and drink a matcha latte in one day.

That's probably it. Progressive overload is necessary for any type of exercise if you want to see any improvement both performance and physique wise. For yoga this would be going in deeper, variying flows and staying in pose for longer. She is obviously under-eating, not much body weight exercise going on. That's why she is still soft around the edges with little to no definition. There is nothing wrong with that btw, except for possible eating disorders and controlling what your partner eats.

Yeah we had this whole debate not so long ago on here, some people got really angry at calling her skinny fat/saying she lacks definition etc. I was very much of the opinion that her body fat is so low she could look unreal if she started lifting. However someone made the very good point that not everyone wants to do weights or cares about being toned, perhaps she is just happy to be slim etc, and I think that does make sense for her. Like, she’s around enough frequent exercisers and PTs etc that she must know she would tone up if she did weights, so the natural conclusion is that she isn’t bothered, and that’s fair enough really.

I am in 2 minds about this, I would say the internet generally, yes, undoubtedltly has had a positive effect (despite the downsides). I grew up wihtout it and the access to information etc now is amazing. Social media instead..... it just encourages a superficial look at things IMO, having a really limited word limit on twitter, for example, doesn't encourage meaningful debate but just adversarial views.... and I see a lot of this in other scoial media forums... there is little room for dialogue or nuance anymore in social media which is not at all helpful and is reflected in the politics of many countries atm

I have a feeling she is the type of person that thinks lifting takes away your femininity, makes you more masculine and a bit threatening for potential suitors. I also saw that skii carrying post and it kinda confirms that. Think American dream 50s housewife stereotype. Don't quote me on that tho

I found lifting weights and especially compound exercises such as deadlifting and squatting helped me with cardio because it builds muscle and with stronger legs I felt better running etc. It's not always for an aesthetic thing but also for performance reasons. I think the fittest I have ever been was when I was circuit training, running, skipping and doing compound weight training as they seemed to complement each other in one way or another.

Although Niomi is clearly a good runner so perhaps for her she is working towards a certain goal with her running and yoga, rather than wanting to be strong or look a certain way.

Yeah I totally get that vibe from her too tbh. Like @HelloStereo says there are so many health and performance benefits from doing weights but I imagine she’s one of those people who thinks it’ll make her bulky or she doesn’t want to eat more to help her muscles grow or whatever.

I’m 35, so I experienced what life was like before social media. Life was so much simpler. People didn’t have anxiety and depression to the extent they do these days. And it’s all been linked to the introduction of the smart phone in 2012. Suicide rates have increased since that year. Even I’ve got horrible anxiety and depression. I compare my body to other women on Instagram and I’m a 35 year old woman! I can’t imagine how it much affect young minds.

I feel really sorry for young people growing up with social media. I have no idea how I would’ve handled it during high school.

I work as an interface designer and developer, so I literally manipulate you guys for a living. (Not proud of it). I use psychology to keep you addicted to your phone. And don’t get me started on how damaging porn is for young people. It reduces the grey matter in your brain. So yeah, if we could all go back to 2012, that would be great.

I remember by first mobile phone had flashing lights on the side of it and I felt soooo cool. I’m so glad that was the extent of what I could do on a phone at age 11!

This really speaks to my soul! I’m 35 and I miss the days before social media/smart phones more than I can say. I’m so grateful I grew up that way and also depressed that it will never be that way again. Social media is so toxic for all the reasons you mentioned. I’ve caught myself so many times thinking more about an instagram post I will make on some day out, than actually enjoying the moment. It sickens me. Niomi is a great example of how empty it all is. She’s trying desperately to prove she has this pahfect life and in reality she is broken. I feel sorry for her that she has the pressure to have to portray this fake image. It’s all so tiring and just bull shit.

I think Louis Cole's girlfriend (Raya? I think) summed it up really nicely in that vid with Zoe and Alfie where she said she has so many memories where her and Louis would have traveled to this amazing place and she'd think wow this is so romantic and look around and Louis would be there talking to his camera and completely ruin the moment. Even scarier that her mentioning that in the video was clearly the first time it had even crossed his mind

I don't think I can respond to specific posts yet because my account is fairly new, but I just wanted to offer another quick opinion on social media. Obviously I understand where people are coming from, but I do believe it's very much about how you use it. This year I was diagnosed with breast cancer and instagram was by far the easiest way for me to reach out and find a whole community of young people dealing with the same thing. Instagram has provided me with a support system I couldn't have done without this year for sure. Also as someone having to get the train to and from chemo during rush hour at the moment, I find it so frustrating to see influencers getting the tube at the busiest time of day for things other than work or meetings (basically leisure activities) and adding to the crowds
