I'm wondering what we do about milk once LO turns 1 at the end of the month. Do we just stop formula and only offer water and maybe cows milk occasionally? Do I need to now move to the next stage formula (we've kept him on the baby one just because I couldn't be bothered with the faff of changing over)? Does he need to stop having milk and go to solids for all meals?

Also whilst we're on food - what do people do for snacks? We're a big fan of the packaged snacks, like the melty wafers and bags of melty sticks that you get but I'm starting to feel like maybe I should make a bit of effort and give him something that isn't UHP...
I think if they’re having enough nutrients etc through their food you can move to cows milk but if you’re concerned they aren’t getting enough through solids you can stay with using a formula.
We use the melty wafer things too, as well as breadsticks. Tbh he doesn’t snack in between meals yet but I’ll give these to him whilst he’s sitting in the chair waiting for me to get his dinner ready or after he’s eaten if he’s not had much interest in food.

How many bottles do your 9/10 months old have? My little boy is almost 10 months and he’s on 3 bottles a day and has been since he was 9 months. This is 3 during the day and then sometimes 1 overnight. He rarely eats lunch though, he basically just eats snacks for lunch like breadsticks or the baby wafer things you can get. Sometimes he’ll have 1 or 2 mouthfuls of yogurt or fruit purée but whenever I’ve served toast/ bread/ egg he doesn’t seem to eat much and I’m just wondering if I should be decreasing the bottles to 2 to try and encourage lunch more?!
My son 9 and a half months is still on 4/5 bottles inc 1/2 at night, has around 7oz each then 8/9oz at bedtime one. He eats pretty well too but still wants milk

just turned 10 month still has 3/4…. But he snacks someone’s, taken him a few attempts to finish a bottle…. So still feels like we are constantly feeding. Has 1 overnight still.

It’s so nice to read all this about milk- she’s 10 months old and still on 3-4 bottles of 7oz a day. The last couple of weeks she seems to be eating more and dropping a bit of milk but from everything I’ve read it should be less? But I’m
Not going to deprive her of milk.

Also when I prayed to the nap gods for her to nap more than an hour I should have specified I meant waking up before 4:30pm…. We’re on an hour 20 which is great but bedtime is gonna be soooo late 😭

After a 5 month wait, we’ve got our dietician appointment tomorrow… over the phone. But better than nothing.
Really hoping we get some help but already doubting it 😫😫

@themuffinwoman baby wotsit has suddenly started eating more solids and still drinking pretty much same amount of milk…I’m figuring he will refuse it when he doesn’t want it…if he doesn’t have it in the day he just wakes for it overnight.

do they drop to just milk in morning and before bed at one? Or do people still offer through the day?

Baby VT is 10 months (almost 11 🥹) and we’ve just dropped her two day time bottles as we found she wasn’t drinking much of her mid morning one and she wasn’t eating her dinner if she had an afternoon one. So now she has an 8oz bottle when she wakes and one at bedtime plus her 3 meals and plenty of drinks of water plus usually one snack mid morning. Shes definitely enjoying her dinner more since we dropped the afternoon bottle xx

Mine just did an almost 2 hour nap as well.

he was doing 1 hour ones for ages but the last few days I’ve had a fair few almost 2 hour ones.. he must be levelling up 😂

it has meant bed times have been later.. but if he needs the sleep..

Did anyone else’s baby not go to nursery until say 18 months/2 years.
iv decided not to go back to work yet and so baby wotsit won’t be going to nursery. But I worry he will get behind in development or socialisation. Anyone tell me this isn’t the case

Not mine but I used to nanny for a baby who was 1 when I started and 3 when he went to preschool. The teachers were amazed he could do things like use scissors/ write his name, was super social.
I think the key is still getting out & about with baby, activities at home that don’t have to be hard just simple engaging ones. Baby won’t get behind at all 🙏 My son won’t be going until 2/3 too.

Wow the 8 month sleep regression is fun isn't it. Baby breakfast just refusing to sleep. At least she's happy I guess which makes a change from the silent reflux days but I am exhausted.

So… I can’t offer tons of advice but my elder 2 went to nursery at 11 months and I’m in the same boat this time that I’m not going back to work. So Baby Natter will start nursery at 18 months!
So far, I’ve not seen any difference albeit it’s only 6 weeks 😂
I also think back that I personally went to no childcare whatsoever until school nursery at 4. So I don’t think starting a tiny bit later (in the grand scheme of things) will make that much difference. My son is 7 and he’s got friends that didn’t start til 3 and friends that went at 3 months and you definitely cannot tell xx

Sorry this is my outlet atm and I realise this is completely my own fault but she was rubbing her eyes so so so much I brought her to bed and she fell asleep in my arms then after 5 mins she was awake and I’ve put her in the cot and gone to sit for 5 mins in another room as I cannot deal. I’m knackered too. Urgh.

Sending love. We’re still cosleeping at 12 months because he won’t settle himself and he won’t be moved once sleep. Feel your pain massively ❤

❤ Were your other two like that? It’s my own doing but I can’t take the unpredictability of it- if she goes down great, I can transfer ok. But nights like this I can’t just put her down and walk away and she’ll settle. I have friends saying oh you have to do it she’ll get over it but she won’t- it’s clearly not the right time to try this.

A bit more milk and rocking and tears (from everyone) and she’s asleep on me and seems settled 🤞

My eldest co slept til 18 months and didn’t regularly sleep through the night til 5 🙈 my middle was a different story, never wanted to be touched and self settled from very little!
No, I agree with giving them a chance. Baby Natter has surprised me a few times when I’ve ran to get milk and then he’s gone back to sleep but I don’t think leaving them to cry is the answer! In fact at breaking point we tried cry it out (where you go in after intervals) and it made my first worse! Wouldn’t go in his bedroom without crying and it broke my heart.
Hope you have a good night once she’s settled 🥰

I realise this conversation has probs been had like 100/ times and I’m so sorry to ask again but. Baby monitors. Are they worth it? Now she’s got her own room (first night is tonight!), do I need a fancy one? I saw one which shows the temperature which would be quite handy, and plays white noise although I have an old iPad I’ve set up in her room to do that. Is it worth having a different little monitor? Atm we use a plain old camera, doesn’t move or anything, literally just pointed at her. Also do people keep the video feed on all night? Her room is like 4 feet from mine but I can’t help but think I will wanna check on her 🙈 or I randomly become a deep sleeper, but doubtful.

I’m sorry your childhood was like that, it sounds like you have a lovely day planned for baba and you.

Yes, sort of. I feel like she’s naturally made me want to be a better person, which sounds really selfish lol but I’m always thinking oh I should eat more healthily, be a nicer person etc etc and since she arrived I feel like I am and it’s not even a concerted effort, it just feels right?
We have the boifun monitor which was bought as a gift - the video quality isn’t great but it does the job. It gives me a giggle cos it plays music but the songs are so random - there’s a bit of Elton john, groovy kind of love and most entertaining to us the sound of silence. Thought I was losing it at 2 weeks pp when I heard the melody “hello darkness my old friend” playing from the monitor 🤣

Baby T is having a full bottle early morning (5am ish, about 7 ounces) then about 5oz before morning nap. I always offer him one before afternoon nap and bed but he only takes 1/2oz of each so it’s barely working out at 3 bottles a day now.

Sometimes he is needing one between 10pm and 2am, sometimes not it depends how much solids he’s eaten. I’ve been really worrying about it for weeks (feel like all I do is moan about it on here) but because he is gaining weight etc the health visitor said it was ok, just to keep offering it but not to stress. I do add extra formula to his food where I can - we always do cereal for breakfast for example, and if he’s having a pouch I’ll maybe mix in an oz of milk. He’s just really not enjoying milk anymore unless he’s really tired but he is on three meals a day.
Sorry for the really long reply lol

He got on really well, I was so proud of him - he said they had a lovely morning, he got baby bandit to have a 1.5 hour nap and they had fun playing ☺ the only issue was he wasn't drinking much because his teeth hurt and then by about 2pm he'd become really grumpy and upset, so when I arrived home my husband was very ready for a break! They both did great without me though, and Mr bandit even logged things exactly how I wanted him to (bottle timings, nappy changes etc) so I was thrilled! He confirmed he's glad we didn't do shared parental leave though 😅 leaving baby bandit at nursery is going to be so hard, but knowing he coped fine without me for 6 hours and that I enjoyed being back at work will make it a lot easier when the time comes. I know you're upset about MMs settling in sessions but I think the thought of it is probably worse than the reality, and hopefully knowing that she's being well looked after and that you can have a bit of breathing space will make it easier ❤
I’m so glad they had a good day! It will put your mind at ease and will help their bond 🥰

Is anyone else struggling with acid reflux/vomiting after pregnancy? I'm 12 weeks pp and this is the third time in a few weeks that I've woken up being sick. It's absolutely vile and I don't know why it's still happening (used to happen regularly during the third trimester) I feel absolutely disgusting.
